Hey is there any way of creating a website without having to use hosting websites or anything like that? And is there any way of doing this for free or at least cheaply?
E.G. Pokebeach (duh), 3dsbuzz.com, Serebii.net, IGN.
Thanks

That depends. If you want a special website name, then there's no helping it. Otherwise, there are places like yola.

Yeah, if you want your own domain, you have to pay at the very minimum something like $1.50 per year. But if you're fine with *.somewhere.com, that can be done for free.

You pretty much have to use a hosting website, but there are ways around it, depending on what you want to do; if you're thinking of something that would constitute a good bit of traffic (150+ unique visitors a month), you might really need to buy hosting (a frequently recommended one being Dreamhost). If not, you could go with a free host (there's a lot of them; I personally use 000webhost). If all you want is a blog, Blogger would do.

And lastly, the wildcard is something like Dropbox. I haven't looked into it too much, but here's an article from Lifehacker: http://lifehacker.com/5860139/host-web-pages-for-free-within-dropbox-with-droppages-or-pancakeio

The definition of cheap is subjective. Most free hosts are not ones I would recommend. I've heard about plenty of problems with them on other forums. Siteground is what I've always used. I couldn't be happier with them. I get unlimited email accounts, unlimited MySQL databases, unlimited FTP accounts, unlimited parked domains, and unlimited subdomains. I also have a wide variety of tools in cPanel including PHPMyAdmin, File Manager, and Softaculous. The customer service they provide is almost unmatchable. I frequently get response times of five minutes or less when I open a ticket.

If you don't know HTML just go with Webs.com

Otherwise, explore what other people are saying. I use Siteground too for my websites, and agree with King Arceus that it is a great choice.

As Chari said, but this is how I know how to do it.

If you want a specific domain (This is the URL of the site, such as XXX-YYY.com) you need to purchase that domain. This can be done from a site like godaddy for ~$12 per year.

Then you need to find a host to host the site, and finally you need to actually build the site based on what purpose you want it for.

Not sure how much of that is new content, but I hope it helped.

I've made one with wordpress and freewebs. The second isn't as visually appealing IMO, but has a shorter added URL and a forum option. wordpress looks nicer but as far as I know, doesn't have a forum service to it.

Yeah, what Nengeni said. Except for the GoDaddy thing. Anything but GoDaddy. *shudders*

What's wrong with GoDaddy?

My father and I have over 500 domains registered for both personal use and for our clients.

Commercials. Nuff said.

I recommend http://own-free-website.com/ if you need it for personal use only. You get a free namehere.page.tl or namehere.de.tl domain.
It's free, easy to use and good enough. It also puts only one commercial on your site.

If you want to know how a page made with it could look like, here is something I made: click

If you want to make "the new IGN"... well, forget it if you have to ask for help. :B

I have seen tons of complaints about GoDaddy. Just check MyBB support forums.
