Which takes precedence over the other, the effect of Crystal Shard or Weavile's Dark Engage power?

Another quick question, if I have Sidney's Stadium out in play ("Each player's Dark pokémon can't be Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.") and I use Dark Engage on a previously Asleeped, Confused, or Paralyzed to change it to Dark type, will it negate the status ailment?

question 1:
i think that depends on what you use first
eg: you use crystal shard on your active empoleon to turn it colorless
then you turn it dark with dark engage
eg 2: you use dark engage on empoleon to turn it dark
then it turns colorless if you use crystal shard after that

question 2:
i'm not sure but i think its like this:
you have absol (sw) asleep
if you put sidney's stadium it stays asleep but it cannot be confused or paralyzed
but if you have a fine absol sw and put sidney's stadium you cannot be afected by any of those 3 conditions

hope i helped

When multiple effects apply to a Pokemon simultaneously, the owner chooses the order in which they are applied. So you would get to choose.

Apparently, Crystal Shard overrides all other effects. So the Pokemon would be Colorless.

Yes, since it says "can't be" -- it means that those special conditions cannot exist on Dark Pokemon at all. If they are there, they are removed.

Q. If I have a Pokémon with basic Grass Energy attached that is affected by one or more Special Conditions, when I attach Holon Energy GL is it cured of those conditions?
A. Yes, it would remove Special Conditions on that Pokémon. (Nov 3, 2005 PUI Rules Team)

== SIDNEY'S STADIUM (EX: Power Keepers)

Q. If my Darkness Pokémon is already affected by a Special Condition and then I play Sidney's Stadium during my turn, will the Special Condition be removed?
A. Yes, similar to Holon Energy GL rulings the Special Conditions will be removed. (Apr 5, 2007 PUI Rules Team)

You did. I was thinking (hoping) that Crystal Shard + Dark Engage = dual type Colorless/Dark, but I figured that'd be too good to be true.

Awesome. Thanks.

Chairman Kaga, what about this:

== CRYSTAL SHARD (Skyridge; EX:Deoxys; EX:Crystal Guardians)

Q. If I have a Kecleon with several basic Energy cards attached and I attach a Crystal Shard to it, does its Type change back to Colorless or does its Power override the Tool? Would it be 100% Colorless or would one of its Types become Colorless (and you would get to choose which Type now is Colorless)?
A. Crystal Shard does override the Poké-BODY, and a Pokémon Crystal Shard is attached to becomes "Colorless" only. (Jan 29, 2004 PUI Rules Team)

Wouldn't Crystal Shard override Dark Engage?

I think we can all agree on the answer to the second question, it's just this first one I'm confused about.

Hmmm...:( You are indeed right, sir. Off hand I would think they were both effects on the Pokemon (and thus the player's choice), but it appears that Crystal Shard overrides all other effects. I found this with some more searching:

== TYPE SHIFT (Salamence EX - EX: Dragon Frontiers)

Q. If you attach Crystal Shard to Salamence-EX and then later during the same turn use its "Type Shift" Poké-POWER, what color would Salamence-EX become?
A. As long as Crystal Shard is attached, Salamence-EX's type remains colorless. (Feb 8, 2007 PUI Rules Team)

Apologies. I'll edit my previous post.

I've also asked over at Pokegym why this is the case: http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?p=989093

So... Shard does override Engage (and other type-changing effects) but we don't yet know why?

That's correct. At least we know that Crystal Shard DOES override Dark Engage.

The question's been answered, but I still want to know the reason behind Crystal Shard's superiority over everything. So I'm gonna leave this open.

Unless your name is Chairman Kaga, you'd better not post in this thread >:[

OK, it dominates because...
It is a trainer (tool) and since Weavile power says you may use this then, you don't have too and shard makes it colorless, but no matter what shard makes it colorless because it's a thing that can go on for longer than a turn and then gets discarded, making shard have more superiority.

I think the "may" implies that it's elective to use Dark Engage, but if you do choose to use it then the Poké becomes Dark-type, unless of course it's holding a Crystal Shard.

Exactly, the point is if you want to add a shard then don't even bother to use Dark Engage. End of discussion...
lol

Well, I knew that. :p This is all just out of morbid curiosity.

Crystal shard probably because you can use it only 1 time before you have to discard the card but you can use Weavile's attack Poke Power as many times as you want but I could have this backwards. Weavile could override it too because you can use it more than once so it could be either or but it is probably Weavile for that reason though.:)

Wow thank you Chairman Kaga for posting with your like, 6 accounts. :/
