Dark Explorers Prerelease Tips

Hello everybody! The Dark Explorers prerelease tournament will be this Saturday for me, and I was wondering if any experienced players could offer me some good general advice! As for me, I noticed that this set has JUNIPER, so we're gonna see some speedy play for sure! You guys think Juniper will make this prerelease feel like the current meta? I do. We've even got Ultra Ball, essentially a reprint of Computer Search in Base Set, but under a different name. I wish I could offer some advice here as well, but I need to take a reeeeal good look at the upcoming cards, first. Its generally a bit tougher to build a strategy when you don't even know what cards you have, huh?

Wait, oops! Of course Ultra Ball only searches for Pokemon! My mistake. Computer Search let you search for any card.

Well, here's a pretty good article about the prerelease.

Well, that is preeeetty goooood, but I'd like more specific advice that considers the metagame in the Dark Explorers Prerelease. For example, that prerelease advice reccomended 17-20 Pokemon?? Well I think that number can afford to be reduced in favor of more Trainer cards thanks to Professor Juniper!

Okay, when you get your 6 packs and you open them do what it says in thearticle (sort by type and remove any imcomplete evolution chains), then make a deck with pretty much all of your T/S/S that you pulled, this will help.
Also the Pokemon:Trainer:Energy looks like 40%:20%:40%, but that can change depending on your pulls.

I honestly don't believe there is a thread on how to approach a prerelease. If anything, this is one of the only times where you can relax and just do your stuff without any stress of prizes or damaging your record. Just enjoy yourself.

There's honestly not too much different about Dark Explorers than any other set in the Limited Format. If you have a bunch of Dark Pokemon, play them with Dark Claw+Dark Patch. Play any Supporters you get, etc.

I will say that if you get Plusle+Minun, that is one epic potential start that you have. There's not too much of the set that helps out in the starting department like Foongus Find a Friend from Next Destinies.

dmaster out.

Yeah, Plusle+Minun FTW. PR takes everything you know about the TCG and thows it out the window.

I'm actually honestly looking forward to going to my first one next Saturday, it'll be a long ride, but it'll be worth it

i went to one today and i'm saying if you get any jolteons at all USE THEM!!!!!! they are life savers, the chansey's that flip until you get tails aren't bad either :p
