Dark Hammer Theme Deck

My nephew recently started playing and has the Dark Hammer (FLF Pangoro) theme deck and a few random cards. What would be a good deck that I can use against him that is pretty evenly matched. I'd rather not stomp him with my competitive decks and have every game be a possible win for either of us.

RE: Deck to be competitive with Dark Hammer theme deck

If you're talking about Theme Decks, a good one to use might be Psy Crusher, as the Psychic Pokemon in it deal X2 damage to his Fighting Types, but his Dark types have resistance to your Psychic Types and do X2 damage to that deck's Cofagrigus.

The best advice I can give would be to buy your own theme deck to play with him. All of the current format-legal decks are pretty evenly matched against each other, barring weaknesses. That said, don't pick a deck like Resilent Life, since the Psychic types will hit Fighting for weakness and the Fairies will resist his Dark types. If your nephew plays a lot , especially if he starts going to a League, he's going to want to build a stronger deck before long though. You might want to talk to his parents (or do this yourself if you're his guardian) about buying better cards and building something semi-competitive, or at the very least a deck with some Pokemon-EX (even if they're not good ones) and viable Trainer cards so he doesn't feel like a sitting duck. Kids especially can get discouraged when they show up to a League with just a theme deck and can't win a single game.

I don't think he needs a stacked deck to compete with the kids in my league. I've battled a few of them, most have 1, maybe 2, EX in their decks and those are often just promos.

In this case might I recommend getting your hands on another copy of the deck and combining cards? Perhaps get your hands on a third Machamp (the same from the deck) for re-assurance after too?

imo this is perhaps one of the best starter decks out there to begin with.
