dark metal energy

i'm confused about this card...
if i attach dark metal energy to a pokemon that needs a dark and metal or double colorless energies to attack, i can perform that attack immediately after i attached it??? kinda like attaching 2 energies in one card??? or do i have to choose which type i want (dark or metal)???

u will have to choose which type u want (either dark or metal but these energies dont provide effects)
