Darkrai-EX is $50 on Troll and Toad?!?!?

As seen here, Darkrai-EX from the upcoming Dark Explorers expansion has a hefty price tag of $50 on Troll and Toad! That's almost expensive as Mewtwo-EX was! Why do you guys think that this card is so expensive?

It's because of the hype. Troll and Toad raises the prices because of how hyped a card is, since more people are willing to buy it.
 
Troll and Toad puts out a certain amount of cards at one price. Then if that gets sold out, they raise the price, add the same amount of the card back in stock, and so on and so on. It's lots of people pre ordering Darkrai that is putting it at such a high price.

This. It has nothing to do with hype, just T&T limiting the supply for each price- I believe the 9.99 price only had 1-4 stock and it just went up from there. Each time a stock pre-sells out they raise it by 5 bucks. I can only hope that once the set is released we either have a better Chase ratio or the price itself drops once the hype wears off.
 
Guys than "trollandtoad" and "collectorscache "another page exists in united states? am of Chile and only know those two.

You have to remember that because it is hyped, Troll and Toad has to continue to raise prices to keep up with the demand of the cards.

Raikou EX (I'll assume that's what you're referring to) isn't listed on T and T yet. So that's why it isn't really expensive yet.
 
Yeesh, it's situations like these that make me hope Entei EX isn't very pricey... It's my only reason for getting packs from this set.
 
I think Entei-EX is a fairly balanced card, so it probably won't go any higher than $30 dollars. I don't think Darkrai-EX is worth $50 though...$40, maybe.
 
it's worth that much because of the prerelease hype (like so many people said) right now no one has a darkrai and that makes it worth more for everyone wanting a preorder. I have no doubt it is a good card, but it wont see nearly as much play as mewtwo nor will it be worth as much (mewtwo is splashable don't forget)
 
Eeeh..even Kyurem EX hit 15...so I would imagine it would be in that range.
On a different note I think Darkrai EX will fall to about 40 and then go up at Nats, so the card won't stablize until BR's, but we'll be dealing w/ Rayquaza EX so....
 
Darkrai EX can have all pokemon in play for you have free retreat. It can also snipe 30 damage taking out the baby pokemon in late game when they are not used anymore.
 
Well, Raikou and Tornadus have reached 35 each on T&T. Getting mighty close to Darkrai and we still have a month to go. On a lighter note they lowered the non-FA Darkrai by 5 bucks- so its 45 now.
 
hmm I also just realized that darkrai can be a very effective durant killer ^^ (killing the active ant and then damaging a benched one) he can even unexpectedly ko rotom in 2 turns making it possible for something like Zekrom BW to sweep the rest of the game ^^ plus he stops durant's catcher rage dead in it's tracks :eek:
