RE: Darkrai EX/Mewtwo EX

I'll get the discussion started. This is what I won my CC with a couple of weeks ago:

3 MewtwoEX
3 DarkraiEX
2 Sableye
2 Sigilyph
1 Meloetta
11...

4 Professor Juniper
4 N
4 Pokemon Catcher
4 Ultra Ball
4 Dark Patch
3 Cheren
3 Energy Switch
2 Bianca
2 Eviolite
1 Enhanced Hammer
1 Computer Search
1 Energy Retrieval*
1 Skyla
1 Random Reciever
35...

8 Darkness
4 Double Colorless
2 Psychic
14...

*I went with this so that I could have more freedom is discarding my Psychic Energy and wouldn't have to worry as much about it late game. Plus, I didn't want to run 3 Psychic.

Why meloetta? Just curious why you didn't run 3 sigilyph.

It's meant to KO Sigilyph without having to use your own Sigilyph. It also has a much easier energy cost.

I like the Terrakion variant of this deck but I'm not too excited about straight Darkrai/Mewtwo. Sigilyph seems cool in it, I might try that out.

One thing about this deck is it has no TERRIBLE matchups that I know of, so a good player can do well with it (provided they get good draws of course.)

EDIT
777 posts. I win $3000.

I want to tell you guys that I used Darkrai/Mewtwo in a city championship today (which I won :D ) and I noticed that Keldeo has huuuuuge problems with this deck. I beated it once in the first 4 matches, beated it 2-1 in the semifinal, and I beated it 2-0 again in the final.

In my expieriance, Keldeo loses to Darkrai in general. Even a Tier 3 deck like Drakrai/Chandelure can beat it with a quick Darkrai with Dark Claw and one Chandelure out. Darkrai has too much speed for it IMO.

Usually Keldeo EX is almost as fast as Darkrai EX. With Keldeo EX being able to OHKO Darkrai EX if needed, it definately not said that it loses to Darkrai EX in general. It's actually pretty though for any Darkrai deck to keep up with Keldeo, since you can't just go all in with Mewtwo EX.

After Hypnotoxic and Virbank are introduced though, Darkrai is going to gain a big advantage over Keldeo because it can OHKO Blastoise with Dark Claw + HTL, and 140 damage to a Keldeo OHKO's it after a 30 snipe. Dealing with BKEX is harder, but I think that Darkrai still gets a massive boost against Keldeo from the new set.

If you OHKO Blastoise right after they drop it and follow up with a Mewtwo play to counter any big Keldeo EX's you should be in good shape. However, I feel like BKEX's going to rip a huge hole in Keldeo's consistency.

I don't think it'll be a huge consistency breaker, but it'll put a small dent in it. It's two slots - a Lightning Energy and a BK-EX. If you're not running Tropical Beach, then these are two spots you could use. Worst case scenario is that you start with the guy and you're forced to Skyla into a Switch and waste a turn. :|

Here is the list I currently won a CC with.

Keep in mind that Keldeo EX was NOT in the deck but was a Sableye.

Keldeo EX is a good "switch around" card, and can be used against Landorus for the 2HKO.

So in the Ho-Oh thread we were discussing this. How is this deck supposed to beat Klinklang, or atleast not get steamrolled. I'm assuming you just outspeed it?

Probably your best bet yes. I won't focus on a decklist for Plasma Gale until the set is out. :)
But I have been thinking about how you are going to beat it and trust me, it is going to be soooo hard to beat plasmaklang with Darkrai/mewtwo.

I don't think out-speeding it will work most of the time, they'll usually try to get 2 to 3 Klinks out, and I just don't think it'll be very easy to take them out fast enough. I think your best bets are either to include heavy Bouffalant and maybe Aspertia to survive Steel Bullet, or just say screw it and include V-Create Victini with Fire Energies. Or you may just want to accept the loss to it most of the time.

In my deck, I've debated maybe playing NV terrakion as one of the only big non ex basics that can take a hit from cobalion. It was just a thought though, I haven't tried it yet. What about sigilyph? That could be good, but like facing a hydreigon deck, klinklang would kill it.

Cobalion EX goes through Sigilyph's ability, so that wouldn't work. Terrakion also takes 100, then when a second Cobalion EX follows up with 30, Terrakion goes down.

It's just one of those matchups where you have to hope for the best and realize you probably aren't going to beat it. Most of the techs don't work very well.
