Hey guys, I got a blister pack that had a Darkrai Holo Promo, so I'm like, hmm, Dark Wind, 60 damage, Plus 60 if the opponent's Active Pokemon is asleep, and heal 30 damage from it, I had a Malamar-EX card in my collection, so I said to myself, Let's make a deck out of it. Help me out with this deck, please! :3

Pokemon: 15 (So Far)
  • 4 Darkrai (XY Promo 22)
  • 4 Malamar-EX (Phantom Forces 115/119)
  • 2 Darkrai-EX (Dark Explorers 63/108)
  • 1 Jirachi-EX (Plasma Blast 98/101)
  • 3 Yveltal-EX (XY 144/146)
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 24 (so Far)
  • 4 Professor Sycamore
  • 4 N
  • 3 Skyla
  • 2 Colress
  • 2 Sky Field
  • 1 Computer Search
  • 4 Switch
  • 2 Shadow Circle
  • 1 Teammates
  • 1 Professor Birch's Observations
Energy: 10 (So Far)
  • 6 Darkness Energy
  • 4 Double Colorless Energy
Strategy:

The strategy for this deck is for Darkrai to use it's Deep Wind attack to deal 120 damage, and heal itself 30 Damage. To do this, I will use Malamar-EX's ability, Hyper Hypnosis to make my opponent's Active Pokemon asleep, whiling having the Darkrai as my active, Also, since it's retreat cost is 1 Colorless, Darkrai-EX's ability, Dark Cloak, to retreat for free, Having Yveltal-EX in this deck is pretty self-explanatory since it's a Dark Deck, but with a Jirachi-EX in it, which I try to avoid, but having one copy of it can help. Sky Field is there for more bench Pokemon, and 4 Switch just because you gotta know when to bail.

In order to put the Defending Pokémon to Sleep, you need to first attach energy from your hand to Malamar EX. I would incorporating some Energy Switch cards into your deck in order to then energy from the Malamar EX onto your attacking Pokémon. (Do you really need Switch cards since Darkrai EX' Dark Cloak can provide free retreat?)

An alternative would be to do something similar to what's done in the FairyBox deck where Fairy energy is attached to Malamar EX, but then moved with Aromatisse.

I really like the idea you have there. Is the Promo legal for standard?
Yes, it's currently in XY-On and BCR-On.

Thank you for the reply, I agree on the Switch cards, I'm not really good with deckmaking :p
