Ruling deck positions

hi my friend in a tourney had his deck turned 90 degrees to the side and he got warned it was illegal was this a correct ruling or not, bearing in mind this is a medical issue.

Technically the deck isn't suppose to be turned to the side

17.1. Cards in Play
Cards in play should be managed in such a way that they are organized and neat and easy for
opponents and judges to interpret. The following are some guidelines for card organization:
 Each deck should be oriented in a north/south direction, with the short sides of the
cards facing each player.

If a medical reason forces him to play like that, he should speak with the Tournament Organizer or Head Judge of the event.~KA
