Deck Ratio?

Hey everyone I am just now getting back into the game and am trying to build a a nice deck but I am not what a good general ratio is between pokemon, trainers, and energies for a deck. If anyone could give me a lil help or advice I would really appreciate it. BTW sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

20-20-20 is not a very good ratio for competitive play, I'd try out 20-30-10, Trainers and Supporters are very important. A good ratio really depends on the deck though, for future reference.

I agree, with both of you. 20-20-20 is a good place to start, but you won't be winning any games. You will find that less Energy and more Trainers typically will get you set up faster.

For your Pokémon, I would recommend focusing more one or two evolution lines. If you have a bunch of cool strong stuff, you will never get what you need out. But if you run only one or two main attackers, and multiples of the evolution chain, most of the time you will have what you need.

I hope these tips will get you started in the right direction. Good luck! :)

Well, a basic 20-30-10 is a good start, but ratio really depends on the deck. For instance, a Jumpluff build might have around 30-20-10, where SableDonk might have around 10-40-10. The point is, it really does depend on the deck. And remember, the rules are always bendable.

Please don't listen to these people. If you are a new player, you should follow the 20-25-15 rule. (Pokemon-Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums-Energy)

If you want to see how other people run their decks, go look in the deck garage. That is a great way to start learning how to build decks.

20-30-10 is a bit extreme for newcomers, especially considering that the format never had such a low energy requirement until SP came out, and since SP is rotating out soon, what James said makes the most sense.

Thanks everyone I really appreciate the advice I ended up going 20-25-15, again thanks everyone it really helped.
