Definition of Mint

Ok, I am livid right now. I sold a card on ebay as mint (because it IS) and this person is requesting a refund because they say they found some type of scratch or crease that I have no idea what they're talking about. The card looked like it did when I pulled it out of the pack.

I thought mint was basically no dents, no white-wear from playing, and no scratches on the card (like if someone would take a key to it). Am I missing something?? What do you define as a mint condition card vs. say a PSA 9 or 10 card?

Mint condition is as good as new without any scratches or other damage. The only difference between mint and PSA10, is one is graded.

To me a mint card is a card without flaw, and by flaw I mean non-machine/print scratches and creases. I always have an allowance for printing issues and manufacturing scratches or scuffs because there will always be some, in some way shape or form.

That's why you often see sellers list cards as near-mint, because they may be super minty to one person's standards, but to another's not so much as it seems to be your case. It usually provides a safe buffer for the latter super-picky buyers.

Yeah, I usually say Mint/Near Mint, but I left it out for these since in my mind they were fine. I've bought and traded for cards on this very forum that were listed as mint but had a minor thing on them.

BTW, that's the scan up there ^

I never took a scan of the back :( He said he saw a scratch but I don't see any.. *scratches head* I'm using my other Shining, Steelix, as a comparison since both cards were kept at the same place and gotten at the same time, and I don't see anything off with the Steelix; at least, nothing that to me wouldn't be mint.

I guess I'm just scared he'll return the card purposely damaged so he could get his money back =/

From now on I'll always write M/NM

I dunno if it's just me, but is that corner just barely peeling in the top-right corner?
I see what you mean. It does appear to be pealing. I wish the scan was better resolution.

Sorry, it's what my scanner can do :(

And I know it wasn't peeling for sure because I've had peeling cards in other TCGs before and I know this one wasn't (and I would never call it mint if it was).

I can try to get a scan of the back of his 'brother' the steelix since they both came from the same batch of packs, at the same time, and kept at the same place. At least until this guy sends me the card back for me to re-scan.
