Today it started off where I met up with Colleen a little after 9 in the morning. Once we got down towards the tournament site it was still early so we stopped for a bite to eat at a nearby Arby's. Once we are able to go inside the building, we get everything set up and registration begins soon after. I believe there was a total of 27 players that were actually playing. I think 2 or 3 had to drop right away. Once everyone was all registered we got to open our packs. I did manage to pull one of the good Emboars, but unfortunately did not pull any Pignite to use it. My deck ended up as this:
Pokemon (15)
2 Snivy BW 1
1 Servine BW 3
1 Servine BW 4
1 Serperior BW 5
1 Maractus BW 12
1 Petilil BW 9
1 Lilligant BW 10
1 Purrloin BW 66
1 Liepard BW 67
1 Zorua BW 70
1 Zoroark BW 71
1 Lillipup BW 81
1 Minccino BW 88
1 Cinccino BW 89
Trainers (10)
2 Poke Ball
1 Full Heal
1 Revive
1 Potion
1 Switch
1 Energy Search
2 Super Scoop Up
1 Professor Juniper
Energy (15)
8 Grass
7 Dark
Round 1: vs Bye
I ended up getting the random bye in round 1. It is very rare for me to get a bye in tournaments. It did allow me to finish some trades with Ed, which worked out well.
Round 2:
This game was over fast. I ended up going first. I attached a grass energy to Maractus and flipped 3 heads against a lone 60 HP Pokemon. I felt bad for her since I donked her when she didn't get a turn. After I reported the result, we played another game and it was a lot closer. I ended up winning that game as well.
Round 3:
I got unlucky and was paired down to a 1-1. This person happened to have everything my deck was weak against (fighting and fire). He gets amazing set up while I get basically nothing. The highlight of the match was me copying the attack of the promo card Pokemon (can't think of the name off hand).
Round 4:
This person was undefeated so it was kind of funny that I ended up facing her since I was paired down the previous round. She wasn't getting good draws, while I was setting up. Maractus was doing a lot for me since she wasn't able to do more than 50 damage most of the game. I think her Zekrom got off one big hit, but then I got rid of it soon after. I ended up winning that round.
I ended up with a record of 3-1. In tiebreakers, I had won. I was surprised since I had a bye and one round that I got paired down. In the two additional packs I pulled an additional Emboar.
Props:
Arby's
My opponent's for being good sports
2 Emboar
Zoroark
Finishing up some trades
Colleen for running the tournament
The Source Comics and Games for hosting and for me always having good luck there.
Slops:
Winning by getting a donk instead of having a real match in one round
Still don't have a Pikachu.
