Dialga EX / Xatu

Note: I realize that cards like Level Ball and Super Rod would be useful in this deck, but I am trying to avoid cards that will be rotated soon. I am a new player, so I would have to buy or trade for older cards (except Skyla, which I already have).

Pokemon (15):

  • 2 Dialga EX
    3 Natu
    3 Xatu (Legendary Treasures)
    2 Pikachu
    2 Raichu (XY)
    2 Druddigon (Flashfire)
    1 Sigilyph (with Safeguard)
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums (34):

  • 4 Shauna
    2 N
    2 Colress
    2 Skyla
    4 Ultra Ball
    3 Evosoda
    1 Sacred Ash
    1 Energy Retrieval
    4 Trick Shovel
    2 Colress Machine
    2 Switch / Escape Rope
    2 Startling Megaphone
    2 Hard Charm
    1 Silver Mirror
1 Dowsing Machine - ACE SPEC
Energy (11):

  • 4 Plasma
    3 Double Colorless
    4 Psychic

Strategy:

The strategy is to mill my opponent's cards with Dialga EX and Xatu. Raichu and Druddigon are there to put pressure on my opponent to not just set up a single Mewtwo/Keldeo/Yveltal and sweep. I want them to draw and play cards to thin out their deck on their own. Also, taking prizes might be helpful to rescue a Plasma Energy. Sigilyph, Hard Charm, and Silver Mirror are for stalling while I set up at the beginning or to force my opponent to draw their last few cards at the end. Sacred Ash and Energy Retrieval are there because decking myself out before my opponent is a very real risk. My main worry is that I will end up losing rock-paper-scissors too much and discarding important cards. For the same reason, I decided against Juniper/Sycamore because I want to avoid discarding and would rather be able to shuffle a large hand back into the deck with Shauna.

Other cards I've considered: Town Map, Umbreon/Leafeon, anything that discards my opponent's hand
