XY Dialkia's Y Egglocke

Too lazy to put something new here

Good afternoon, fellow denizens of Pokebeach. You may remember me as the person who wrote a storylocke called "Nuzlocke 2: Black in Time", featuring a plot so unnecessarily convoluted that even I barely understood it, a plethora of two-dimensional characters, and overall poor writing. You may also remember me disappearing in early February and never touching that festering carcass of a story again.

Since then, I have decided to go back to the sort of thing that started it all - an Egglocke. Hopefully, this one will not devolve into a distorted story-continuum-blob-thing like last time.

1. I may only catch the first Pokemon I find in any area. If I fail to catch it, too bad - I don't get a catch.
--Exception: at Route 2, I can only catch my second encounter, since the first one is guaranteed to be a Pidgey.
-1a. Any Pokemon received via gift count as the catch for that area, provided nothing is encountered prior to it.
-Dupes Clause: If I encounter something that I have already caught, I may skip it and continue searching until I find something that I have not already caught.

2. If a Pokemon's HP reaches zero, it is now dead and can no longer be used.

3. Blah blah nicknames blah.

4. All legendaries must be destroyed.
--Exception: Yveltal will respawn until it is caught, so I must catch it. However, it may not be used.

5. I may not use the EXP-Share unless I feel it is necessary. No having it on all, as people say, 'willy-nilly'.

Egg Rules:

1. Fifteen eggs are available. They will be donated by you, the viewers. Please do not tell me what is inside the egg(s) you send.

2. The maximum amount of eggs one person can donate is 4.

3. The rules for hatching eggs are as follows:
-One egg may be hatched at the start of the journey.
-One egg may be hatched every time I gain a Gym Badge.
-One egg may be hatched every time I defeat Sycamore or Calem in a battle.

4. In order to hatch an egg, I must either give up a future catch in an area or give up something that I have already caught.
-4a. I may not give up a catch in an area in which no catches are available.

5. I must catch fifteen random 'mons to trade for the eggs.
lovandra- 4 eggs - Received!
Reggie McGigas- 1 egg - cancelled until further notice due to wifi problems
raichulover11- 1 egg
Vom- 4 eggs - Received!
Lugia123- 1 egg - Received!
Drohn- 1 egg - Received!
11/15
Without further ado, let us begin.

So, starting off. Insert joke about professor not knowing my gender here. I choose to be a girl, because why not. For a name, I choose Anna. I like palindromes. Palindromes like me.
Anyway, I wake up in my room and what the - OH NO FLETCHLING NOT THE GALE WINGS IT HURTS.
Bleh. Now that my ordeal with the murderbird is over, I go downstairs and meet two of my designated rivals, Calem and Shauna, and go down to Aquacorde, which seems to be built specifically so that you cannot walk away from the meeting with your 'friends'. Well, at least I have running shoes from the start in this game. Finally! Now I can start running!

So, starters. Since I used Chespin in X and Fennekin in my initial playthrough of Y, I decide to go with Froakie here. I name him Range. Then, I face my obligatory first rival battle against Shauna. Given that I have the type advantage, it goes pretty much just like you would expect it to go - that is, a small animal being knocked out by bubbles.

After the battle, I check Range's nature, and to my dismay, it's Brave (+Attack -Speed). Ugh. Oh well, I guess I'll make do. Anyway, I buy some Pokeballs and Potions and go on to Route 2, shoving the Pidgey aside. My second encounter, as per the rules, is a Scatterbug. One Pound from Range brings it to just above half health, so I figure I'll hit it one more time before I try to catch it, just to be safe. Aand it faints. Stupid damage variation. Then, I brave the obligatory Catching tutorial [sarcasm] which is simply the most amazing thing ever and everybody loves it and we should never have an option to disable it [/sarcasm].

At this point, I decide not to go any further until I get my first egg.

It's been a few days. Let's get back to it.
So, a few days ago, I received my first egg from lovandra. I give up my right to catch something at Route 7. Upon hatching it, it turns out to be a Phanpy! I name her Merall. And of course, she has Pickup! After a quick grinding session, I proceed into Santalune Forest. Shauna insists on tagging along; well, at least I get free healing.

Upon searching the grass, my first encounter is a level four Metapod, which I succeed in catching. However, I accidentally hit B after the Pokedex screen, so it doesn't end up with a name. Whoops. Not as if I'm really going to use it, anyway.

I proceed through the forest, effortlessly defeating all the trainers on the way. Merall and Range are at about the same level by the time I reach Route 3. All the rivals meet up here, and I get Adventure Rules. Oh joy. Totally needed those.

I continue into the grass, and find a Pidgey as an encounter, which I catch and name Robin for lack of any better ideas. I then go on to Santalune City, where I heal and receive the rest of the eggs. Santalune also has some cool things to get; namely roller skates, hats I don't really need, and roller skates. Finally! Now I can start skating!

On the next route, I find a Bunnelby in the grass, which I catch and name Sally. Meh, at least it also gets Pickup for twice the pick-upping. Which, now that I think about it, sounds remarkably like hiccuping, though I don't suppose the two are particularly related. They could be, if... wait, I've lost my place. Where were we? Ah, yes.

So, I switch-grind Robin up a few levels in the tall grass, then go and beat all the trainers on the route. On the way, I have a particularly close call against the Rising Star with a Riolu, which manages to survive a tackle from Merall with very low HP, and then uses Counter. I am very scared by the experience, but Merall survives the hit.

After the trainers, with Robin now being of a sufficient level, I challenge the Gym. None of the trainers are at all troublesome, and Robin defeats them with ease. I face Viola, and her Surskit and Vivillon, which, while making me keep an eye on the HP bar, are still taken out with a few gusts.

With my new badge, I go and hatch another egg, giving up the nameless Metapod. This one hatches into a Pidove. Huh. I would probably use it if I didn't have Robin, but for now it's boxed.

Reggie McGigas said:
Can I give you an egg tommorow?

Why yes, you can give me an egg tomorrow! I probably won't be able to hatch it for a while, since, with the gameplay I've done, I won't be able to hatch another egg until after Gym 2, but I will still take it, thanks.

Sign me up for the egg donator list!!!
I have 10-ish eggs available. Just PM me or something to trade ^.^

To all of you volunteers, thank you! I will contact you soon.

So. When we left off, I had just boxed the Pidove I received from my second egg. Continuing from there, I go to the entrance to the next route, where I get an EXP Share, which I turn off as per the rules. I then go to the yellow flowers, and unsurprisingly enough, find a yellow Flabebe there. I catch it and name it Chrys, short for chrysanthemum. I train Chrys, and continue on my way.

After dealing with all of those Gardeners with Corphish, which I have nothing to effectively deal with at this point, I am blocked from entering Lumiose by Sina and Dexio, who ask me if I want to be shown the way to Sycamore's lab. Since I have played both X and Y to the end, I say no, since I know where the lab is. Unfortunately, I played them long enough ago that I forgot that until you say yes, they won't let you into the city. I am forced to accept.

Once in the city, I go to heal, then do a bit more training, then go to the lab. Honestly, most of the machines there are rather extraneous, seeming to serve no real purpose other than creating blinking lights and soft humming noises. On the third floor, I meet Sycamore and the rest of my friends, if you substitute friends with 'people who follow me around and fight their pets against my pets'.

I am immediately challenged to a battle with the professor. My team makes short work of his Kanto starters. I am then allowed to take one of said Kanto starters. Though the thought of Charmander's OP earlygame Dragon Rage is tempting, I decide on Bulbasaur, to take care of my current Water vulnerability. I name him Asparagus (pronounced azz-puh-rah-guss, not like the vegetable).

After getting off the elevator, I run into Lysandre, who is totally not the villain. He leaves, but I see him again when I am railroaded over to one of the Cafes. He's standing next to Diantha, talking about how he wants beauty to never be tarnished, and would destroy the world just to keep beauty from fading... Yup, totally not the villain! He and Diantha both leave, and Calem now feels the need to tell me that we are going to be rivals. As if I didn't already know that and state it.

Anyway, having now battled Sycamore, I go and hatch my third egg (giving up my potential catch in Laverre) which, given the spacing of the first and second gyms, will be my last egg for quite a bit. It turns out to be a Scatterbug. I name it Nameless, in honor of the nameless Metapod I permaboxed recently, though now that I think about it, The Nameless or something to that effect might be a good name for a demon or something, Vivillon being the Pokemon number 666. Anyway, Nameless is boxed for the time being.

So, I continue to Route 5, where Korrina and her two Lucario make an early cameo. In the grass, I catch a Skiddo, and also press B at the wrong time, leaving it without a name. I have a feeling this is going to be a trend. At least now I can rename it in the next town over.

So, Tierno shows up, displays a bit more of his two-dimensional dancing obsession, and challenges me to a battle. Asparagus Vine Whips his Corphish into next week, or whenever the next time I fight Tierno is. He and Trevor decide to leave me alone for the time being.

Now, I move on and fight a Rising Star. This particular Rising Star happens to use a level thirteen Kadabra, which, I may note, is illegal. I have Chrys up front at this point, and one Confusion from this thing cleanly takes off 50% of her HP bar per hit. I am forced to resort to healing whenever it attacks and waiting for an opening. Unfortunately, the one thing this Kadabra does other than use Confusion? Spam Kinesis, lowering my accuracy. Now, even when Chrys gets an opening to attack, she doesn't even hit.

My potions are running thin at this point, and in a desperate attempt to end the battle, I switch into Robin. A Confusion takes off about two thirds of his health bar, but he survives. I calculate that a STAB Quick Attack, on top of the damage that Kadabra had already received and Kadabra's innately low defense, will be enough to knock it out.

But, of course, you know I wouldn't be going into this much detail if something didn't go wrong. The Quick Attack knocks the Kadabra down to a few hit points... and stops. I am forced to watch as Robin is killed before my eyes.

I send Range out, and a Quick Attack finishes the job. The battle is over, but not without a cost. Unfortunately, the game does not allow me to cause any bodily harm to this trainer, but I attempt to anyway. I then run back to the Center, and open up a new box, titled Valhalla. Robin is deposited into Valhalla, permanently.

At this point, I decide to grind more, getting my team up to level 16. I add Nameless to the team as Robin's replacement. An unorthodox choice, I know, given that I have a Pidove in the box, but right now, a Vivillon gets me more in terms of power and speed.

It is at this point that I discover that Route 5 is a very bad grinding spot. Let me list out the reasons:
1. A lot of the time, you will find Furfrou, which have very high attack stats for this point in the game, and high enough speed that they are very difficult to run away from, not to mention an ability which halves damage from Physical moves.
2. You can also find Doduo, which are dangerous for pretty much the same reasons, as well as STAB Peck.
3. You can also find Pancham, which also have a high attack stat, as well as STAB Arm Thrust. Multi-hit moves like that can be lethal if you're unlucky, as I know from my White 2 Egglocke.

All in all, I end up just going to Route 4, despite its low EXP gains. After some time, I get everybody to level 16. Range and Asparagus both evolve, as well as Nameless, who turns out to be a Polar Vivillon. I continue back to Route 5, now with an improved team.

Chrys/Flabebe lv 16

You can have one egg from me.

Okay, thanks. I'll contact you later.

Okay, so after last part, I cleared out the remaining Route 5 trainers, none of which posed anywhere near as much of a threat as the illegal Kadabra. Upon reaching Camphrier town, I take the Skiddo I caught and rename it Carrie. Get it? Because Skiddo and Gogoat... carry... things... eh, whatever.

So, I go to Shabboneau Castle or however it's spelled, where I hear about the Snorlax blocking the road and have to go to Parfum Palace and get the Pokeflute to awaken it. I do so, defeating the trainers along the middle pathway. Before I get to the palace, I go to the grass on route 6 and catch an Oddish, which I name Phil, because Chlorophyll. I should stop making so many bad puns.

After being charged 1000 poke as entrance fee, causing me to wonder what would happen to someone who had spent a lot on items and didn't have enough money, I get let into the Palace and immediately have to go find a Furfrou. After getting some freebies from the gardens, I locate it. Since I have played this game twice already, I remember the puzzle and have no trouble cornering the Furfrou in the conveniently-shaped hedge wall.

I'll skip over the fireworks because who has a fireworks show in the day. Also I wasn't paying attention and missed the fireworks completely. I get the Pokeflute and go back through the grass.

Now, here's where things get interesting. The first trainers I encounter on the way back force me into a double battle against two Furfrou. Presumably this was to show off the haircutting mechanic, but that's not the point. The point is, I have to face two Pokemon with base 80 Attack, STAB Headbutt, an ability that halves the physical damage I do to them, Growl to make sure I do even less damage, and Tail Whip to make sure that they do even more damage to me. Also, since it's a double battle, both of them are fully capable of ganging up on one of my Pokemon. Yeah.

I have Asparagus and Merall up front. I focus my efforts on the blue Furfrou, with Asparagus putting it to sleep and hitting it with Leech Seed, and Merall using Tackle when she's not healing or using Defense Curl. Of course, when the blue Furfrou was just about to faint, they use a Super Potion on it, thus making just about all of my efforts for nothing. I have to start over.

Unfortunately, I never get far enough to be able to Leech Seed the second Furfrou. At a critical moment, the Leech Seed misses. Soon after that, the two Furfrou gang up on Asparagus, who was at about -2 Defense at this point. Asparagus dies. And, of course, he was the one I was planning to use to beat the Snorlax.

So, none of the other members of the team really have the defense to stand up to two potential Headbutts at once. As a last resort, I send in Nameless, hoping to end the battle quickly. It is at this point that I realize how miraculous it is that Struggle Bug hits both targets in a Double Battle. Though Nameless is forced to heal every now and then, the blue Furfrou goes down in a few hits, with Merall assisting by doing minor chip damage with Tackle. A few more Struggle Bugs and one Psybeam finish off the other one, which had been preemptively slowed down with a Stun Spore from Nameless a few turns ago. Both Nameless and Merall level up... but it was not worth the cost. I return to Camphrier through the middle path and place Asparagus in the Valhalla box, right next to Robin.

Taking Carrie as a replacement, I return to Route 6 and clear out the remaining trainers, again, none of which pose anywhere near as much of a threat. Merall is now level 20, so I decide to use her against Snorlax.

So, I hand the Pokeflute over to the Karate guy, and Snorlax goes berserk, except not really. We both start off with a Defense Curl. I go for a second Defense Curl while it uses Amnesia. Next, I have Merall use Natural Gift, which, with the Oran Berry she is holding, is an 80 BP Physical Poison Type move. It does next to nothing, however.

Knowing that the Defense Curl the Snorlax did is the cause of this, I start to use X Attacks to get it back to equality. The Snorlax responds with even more Defense Curls. I realize that this is getting me nowhere before I can use my last X Attack, and just end up beating it with Rollout.

Continuing on, I train a bit more in the grass, unable to catch anything because, remember, I gave up my catch on this route. At the end of the route, I run into Calem. Trevor and Tierno follow, and a double battle ensues. I have Carrie at the front, which is good since Razor Leaf hits both targets. Coincidentally, both targets ignore Calem's Fletchling and go for Carrie. What the heck? I mean, I didn't really have any trouble regardless, but what the heck?

Anyway, I continue to Connecting Cave, where I end this part with a catch. Seeing as this area is subtitled as Zubat Roost, I fully expect to get a Zubat. But instead, an Axew turns up! I Stun Spore it with Nameless, but am forced to constantly heal with its barrage of Dual Chops and Dragon Rages. Then I realize I am being an idiot, and I can just wall the heck out of it with Chrys.

After getting it to low HP with Tackle, I capture the Axew with a Great Ball. I name her Tyrfing, after the mythological sword. I rush back to the daycare to check the PC, and Tyrfing has an attack boosting nature! Given, that nature is Brave, so speed is also lowered, but still. GET ON MY TEAM.
Range/Frogadier lv 18
Merall/Phanpy lv 20
Chrys/Flabebe lv 18
Nameless/Vivillon lv 19

Thanks! I did find it very fun when I did an egglocke 2 years ago, which is what inspired me to try it again. I may end up taking you up on that offer, too.

Also, I considered registering this there, but hesitated because egglockes weren't mentioned on the page. Definitely going to do that soon, though.

So, after having caught Tyrfing the Axew last part, I train her up to a good level and make my way over to Ambrette Town, clearing out all the trainers along the way. On the path, Chrys evolves into Floette! Upon arriving, I go around the town collecting the Old Rod, Rock Smash, etc., and then continue towards Glittering Cave.

On the route immediately prior to said Cave, I get a Helioptile as my first encounter. After making a bit of a derp with Nameless and forgetting that Stun Spore doesn't work on electric types, I catch it and name it Komodo. In Glittering Cave, I catch a Machop, which I name Bruce. In a lot of the encounters following that, I end up lamenting that I didn't get anything else, but whatever.

At the innermost cave, I encounter teemphlair Team Flare and proceed to chase them away with their metaphorical tails between their non metaphorical legs. When the chance comes up, I take the Jaw Fossil over the Sail Fossil, but immediately ignore that fossil in favor of the Old Amber I find when using Rock Smash. Upon returning to Ambrette, I revive the Old Amber into an Aerodactyl and receive the corresponding Mega Stone.

Afterwards, I go over to Cyllage City. I purposefully neglect to get a catch here, so that I may take whichever option (fishing, rock smashing, or just giving it up for an egg) suits me best later. At the next route, I catch an Electrike, which I name Pepper. At this point, I stop to grind my team up to a decent level for the second gym.

Of course, I make a crucial mistake - I don't do my research. As far as I know, Run Away is the only normal ability for the Eevee that populate the route, with Adaptability being the Hidden Ability. I have Merall up front at this point, since she has the best defenses of the team. I run into one of the aforementioned Eevee, which is no big problem. Merall's best attacking move at this point is Take Down, which I don't like to use to much because of recoil. Here is where I make a second mistake - choosing to lock Merall into Rollout instead of use Take Down and take some recoil damage. (You can probably tell where this is going.)

Eevee uses Quick Attack. It gets a crit, taking off a decent chunk of Merall's HP. I'm not entirely worried yet. Merall uses Rollout, giving an insignificant amount of damage (probably because of a previous Baby-Doll Eyes by the Eevee). Next, Eevee uses Swift, taking Merall down to low health. Now I start to realize the gravity of the situation, and start praying that Merall gets a lucky crit or misses, breaking the chain. Neither of those things happen. I am forced to sit by, helpless, as Merall, who had been an amazing 'mon right from the very start, is killed by a merciless Eevee. Range is quick to dispatch the murderer, but the damage has already been done.

Looking it up later, I find that Adaptability is, in fact, Eevee's second normal ability, with Anticipation being hidden. I understand now - there's not much I could've done against 120 Base Power Swift. This death, out of all of them, is the worst, because unlike the others, which fell to unfair trainers, Merall died out of my own ignorance and overconfidence. She deserved better. She deserved to at least reach evolution in a few levels. But no.

Tired of taking these risks and spending so much time, I go into intensive training mode, which means EXP Share is temporarily on. Range and Carrie are now at level 26, and the rest of the team is at a suitable level too. With the EXP share now off, I decide to challenge the gym. Fighting the various trainers, Carrie and Range both gain an extra level. Finally, I challenge Grant.

Expecting to see Tyrunt first, I have Carrie up front. However, Amaura is the first to be sent out, so I immediately switch to Range. Its attacks, while keeping me on my toes, don't scare me too much. Even though it gets lots (and I mean LOTS) of hax with Thunder Wave, I hit it with Water Pulse enough that it faints.

Next, I switch back to Carrie for Tyrunt. I outspeed initially, but one Bulldoze doesn't do nearly as much damage as I would like, and the Tyrunt does more damage than I would like. I am forced to heal just about constantly, while the Tyrant lowers my speed with Rock Tomb. Nevertheless, I eventually manage to get in enough Bulldozes to win the match. For my troubles, I get a Rock Tomb TM and a shiny new Badge, meaning it's egg time!

For this one, I give up my potential catch for Couriway town. I decide to take the first of Vom's eggs. Using my newly acquired hatching path on Route 7, I ride back and forth and hatch a West Sea Shellos! I name her Raine. Truth be told, I would normally use Raine, but I already have a good water type in Range, so, yeah.

Nameless/Vivillon lv 25

If you knew what's in the eggs :p
Well it evolves in a ground type XD
Also, I still have more eggs if you want them.

Hmmm... it wouldn't have anything to do with rain, now would it? ;)
Yes, yes it does. In the end, that type overlap doesn't really matter anyway.
I still might take those eggs, but it all depends. Rules are rules, anyway.

Right after hatching Raine, I decide to temporarily box Tyrfing. This is because she takes a while to level up, not to mention that she would have a hard time keeping up until she evolves from this point on. I leave her in the Daycare, so that she can gain a few more levels while she waits. As a temporary replacement, I bring Sally the Bunnelby back to the party for Pickup and HMs.

After this, I continue through Route 10. I meet and subsequently beat some Team Flare grunts with no real problems. I arrive in Geosenge Town, and pick up an item vital to my next battle - a Soft Sand. I give the Soft Sand to Carrie. Then, after a bit of precautionary training (specifically, training Bruce the Machop as a backup), I head over to the Route 11 gate.

Korrina immediately accosts me, not allowing me to pass until I have beaten her two demon Lucario. I have no choice but to accept. As per my plans, I send Carrie out first. Lucario #1 goes first and uses Swords Dance, which is scary, but not entirely unpredicted. Carrie uses Bulldoze, taking Lucario down to just above half HP. Next turn, Lucario goes first again, topping off its already impressive attack stat with yet another Swords Dance. Carrie uses Bulldoze again, and Lucario is now at very low health. I pray that the speed reductions from Bulldoze are enough to make Carrie outspeed... and my prayers are answered. Carrie goes first, KOing Lucario #1 with a Bulldoze. One down, one to go.

Lucario #2 is next. It outspeeds, of course, and hits Carrie with a Power-Up Punch. Carrie survives, and hits with Bulldoze, once again taking away just under half HP. Next turn, Lucario uses Metal Sound, which is utterly pointless as Metal Sound lowers Sp. Def and this Lucario only knows physical attacks. Carrie hits it with another Bulldoze. She then outspeeds the next turn, KOing Lucario #2 and winning me the battle. I had honestly expected to lose someone here, so this came as a great relief.

Korrina departs, leaving me to heal and continue to the next route. As my first encounter, I find and catch Harriet the female Hariyama, who I promptly add to the team and train up as a replacement for Bruce. Skipping over the potential lethality of the Brains & Brawn Duo, I head immediately towards Reflection Cave. As my first encounter there, I find a horde of Mime Jr., but Nameless, luckily, is up front. She is forced to take a while KOing the other Mime Jr., to the point where I was very tempted to just off every last one of them with Struggle Bug. But eventually, I get to the point where there is only one left, and I catch it. Afterwards, I make sure to use a constant supply of Repels to avoid the inevitable Wobuffet Shadow Tag catastrophe.

So, a little ways into the cave, I encounter a Battle Girl. She first sends out a Throh, which Nameless deals with, taking a little bit of damage in the process. Next, she sends out a level 26 Hawlucha. As a response, I send out Chrys, who has dealt with the wild Hawlucha on Route 10 in the past. One Aerial Ace leaves Chrys at about half HP, with one Fairy Wind leaving Hawlucha just above that. To make sure that damage variation doesn't screw me over, I heal Chrys. As I feared, the Aerial Ace takes away more than half HP this time around. I am forced to keep healing until I find an opening, which this Hawlucha simply does not want to leave.

Hoping to find a way to better take the hits, I switch out to Range. Aerial Ace does just over 50% of his HP. I keep healing, still unable to find any openings. After a bit, I decide to try to weather the storm, and shore up Range's defense using X Defends. But once I've used the first one, disaster strikes. That Hawlucha scores a critical hit, and without full HP as a barrier, the Aerial Ace strikes Range dead. And just like that, my starter, my first Pokemon, is gone.

Enraged, I send out Nameless to end the battle with a quick Psybeam. But the unthinkable happens once more. Not only is Hawlucha faster, it proceeds use a completely unexpected Rock Tomb, killing Nameless instantly.

My options are running out at this point. Chrys will fall to one more hit, and Carrie and Harriet are both liable to be one-shotted by an Aerial Ace. My attention drifts to Sally, my faithful Bunnelby HM slav. It is my only option - I send Sally out, and use the turn I just got to heal Chrys back to full health. Sally, of course, never had a chance. She meets her end to a Karate Chop.

Fully rejuvenated, Chrys reenters the battlefield. The Hawlucha uses Aerial Ace again, with predictable results. Chrys' following Fairy Wind is enough to bring the Hawlucha to the brink of defeat, but not enough for that final push.

It is here that I realize that the sun may just be shining down upon me now - damage variation caused the Hawlucha to bring Chrys down to a few points over 50%. At this point, I am desperate enough to win that I make a dangerous gamble, and that is that the next hit will not do enough damage to finish Chrys off. I hit the button, and hope for the best.

Hawlucha outspeeds and hits with Aerial Ace, bringing Chrys' HP down, down...
And it stops - Chrys survives the attack with just two HP remaining! Chrys uses Fairy Wind, ending the monster's rampage once and for all. It is finally over.

In a daze, I exit the cave and return to the Center, where I lay my fallen comrades' bodies to rest in the Valhalla box. Range was supposed to make it all the way to the Championship with me. Nameless was supposed to live for a bit longer, then reach a peaceful retirement. Sally was never even supposed to see battle. But they had it all robbed from them. I only have half my team left now...

...but that half is all I need.

I withdraw Raine the Shellos and Cormag the Aerodactyl from the box. They are the most suitable replacements at this point. I know now that I must go to train, and that when I return, it will be time to bring this region down around me. I cannot let their deaths go unavenged. I cannot let this insult go unchallenged.

My thoughts on recent events:

AAAAAAAAAUAIRHFGAAOIDHFAAARHHGAAAHHHH.

Oh, you were expecting actual coherent, understandable thoughts. Just a moment.

So. That happened. Not much to say about it other than that. I guess that I should say that there are very few good reasons why they should give a random unimportant trainer such a strong 'mon with such good coverage this early in the game, but this game seems to be founded on the assumption that you will use EXP share all the time, in which case it would be considerably easier to deal with. Also, I hate Hawlucha with a burning passion now. Anyway, remember this?

So, anyway, I have not even reached the third gym yet, and already Pokemon Y Version has a greater death toll than any of my previous runs. Being realistic, I can only predict that the body count will rise from here. But to give up would be an injustice to the lives that have already been lost.

So, in any case, I will now grind everybody up to level 32 and exact revenge, the good old-fashioned way. Don't expect an update any time soon because URRGH SO MUCH GRINDING.

I actually don't remember. Half of the eggs I have are actually good tho, the question just is...did you get one of the good ones??? ;)

PS: RIP Range.

Hmm... well, once I reach the next city, I'll have the opportunity to hatch two eggs, so I guess we'll find out!

Also, quick update to say that I have finished my training session, so updates should resume soon - that is, once I have completed a sufficient amount of gameplay. For those who are curious, my current team is:

Chrys/Floette lv 35
Carrie/Gogoat lv 35
Harriet/Hariyama lv 34
Cormag/Aerodactyl lv 32
Raine/Gastrodon lv 32

Right. Let's get on with it.

So, as you know, I recently did quite a bit of training, getting every member of my current team up to at least level 32 (going a bit over, because EXP Share cannot be controlled). Most of my training, I did at the Battle Chateau, and the trainers there posed no threat (despite the illegal level 25 Rhydon what the heck). During this time, both Carrie and Raine evolved into Gogoat and Gastrodon, respectively. Raine actually became fully super-trained by the end, leading to a rather amusing image in my head of a Gastrodon with muscles. Also, for some reason I seem to imagine Cormag and Raine as having a big brother - little sister dynamic. I guess it's because they both joined the team at the same time.

Anyway, after this training, I turn off the EXP Share, then go and traverse Reflection Cave. None of the trainers are able to do any harm to me, not even the Ace Trainer with the Absol and Pinsir. I then arrive in Shalour City, where I heal up. I then immediately go for the loot, letting Cormag help someone reach a shelf, getting me five Stardusts as a reward. This adds to my already impressive wealth from all that battling at the Chateau, and I quickly nab a sixth Stardust using the Dowsing Machine.

So, on my way to the Tower of Mastery, I am met by Tierno and Trevor. Trevor proceeds to battle me in his own way by comparing the amount of 'mons we've seen, and then proceeds to win in his own way by losing. Tierno gives me a stone that he got somewhere, which doesn't actually do anything for the plot.

Upon entering the Tower of Mastery, I meet the Guru. All my other rivals promptly burst in, and the Guru decides to give one of us (hint: me) a Mega Ring. Tierno, Trevor, and Shauna immediately drop out, leaving just me and Calem. The battle begins.

I start off with Cormag against his Meowstic. Predictably, it hits first with Fake Out, but it doesn't really matter anyway. Cormag hits with Crunch next turn, which doesn't quite KO. That problem is easily solved next turn.

Next, he sends out Absol, and I switch to Raine. Quite honestly, I don't know why I did that, given that Harriet would've been a much better choice. I think I thought that Raine's Hidden Power type was Bug, when it was actually Dark. I realize this mistake when I send Raine out, and end up using Mud Bomb instead. Taking minimal damage, a Water Pulse takes Absol out next turn.

Last, Calem sends out Quilladin. Cormag comes back out and OHKOs it with Aerial Ace. I win the battle. I also win the Mega Ring, except I don't get it yet because that would make things too easy. However, I do get to hatch an egg now, thus starting a period in the game where eggs will be given out like Halloween candy. I grab one of Vom's eggs from the box, and bike around with it, giving up Komodo the Helioptile. After quite a while, the egg finally ends up hatching into a Larvitar! I name him Titus, and not only does he have a Jolly nature, he also starts with Dragon Dance and Outrage.

So, on to the gym. Cormag and Chrys do a nice job of taking out the trainers. At one point, however, Cormag winds up in battle against a Throh. He uses Aerial Ace, which takes off almost all of Throh's health. And then Throh uses Revenge, the power of which doubles because it just got hit. Combined with STAB, that's a neutral 180-BP Attack off of a very respectable attack stat onto a not-so-respectable defense stat. It hits, and Cormag's HP goes down, down...

and stops at half. He uses Aerial Ace again and wins the battle.

(Bet you thought he would die there :p)

So, after beating all the gym trainers, I heal up and challenge Korrina, who I am just noticing is very flexible. She leads off with Mienfoo, who, despite using Fake Out first, falls to an Aerial Ace very quickly. I should note that I am listening to the original Pokemon theme song on my headphones as I play this, leading me to sing along at times. Remember this, and it might make you giggle a bit more during the next segment.

Next, she sends out Machoke, and I respond with Chrys, who is at this point level 36. One Fairy Wind brings Machoke down to low health, and Machoke uses Rock Tomb - enough to slow Chrys down, but not enough to stop her completely. Another Fairy Wind finishes the job.

Next, she sends out a Hawlucha. It sits there, mocking me, daring me to attack. I oblige. It starts off with Hone Claws, and Chrys scores a critical Fairy Wind, just barely not earning the KO. Next turn, Korrina uses a Hyper Potion, forcing me to start over, with Fairy Wind taking Hawlucha down to just under half health. It uses Flying Press next turn, which Chrys easily survives and responds to with Fairy Wind for the victory! I win the Gym Battle, and all while singing along to the Pokemon theme. For my trouble, I get a shiny new badge and the Power-Up Punch TM, and am instructed to go to the pinnacle of the Tower of Mastery.

On my way up, I notice that there are several living quarters in the tower. I guess they rent space out in there. Huh. Anyway, I reach the Balcony, where I meet Korrina and her Lucarios again. One of them insists on joining me, and the Mega Evolution tutorial begins. My Lucario goes first thanks to his default Hasty nature, Mega Evolving and then hitting with Power-Up Punch. The other Lucario does exactly the same thing, and both are left at very low HP. My Lucario goes first with Power-Up Punch for the win! I get to keep the Lucario, who I name Priam, and the Mega Stone. Also, Cormag can now Mega Evolve, aww yis.

Anyway, I will end the part with another Egg. Taking another of Vom's eggs and giving up the Mime Jr. I caught in Reflection Cave, I bike back and forth for a bit. I accidentally go too close to the town gate, leading Calem to bump into me and give me the HM for Surf! Anyway, after not quite so long as it took last time, the egg hatches into a male Ralts, meaning potential Gallade, aww yeah. I name him Mercurius.

New part time.

So, starting where I left off, I go to the grass in the next route, and catch Onion the Slowpoke in the grass. Then I meet up with one of Carrie's relatives at the ranch and go for a little ride, during which I find the Shiny Stone. I immediately use this on Chrys, evolving her into Florges. Upon arriving in Coumarine City, I go to the hotel and get myself a Lucky Egg! Grinding shouldn't take nearly as long now. Afterwards, I take the monorail to the upper section of the town, and battle Calem.

I send out Cormag against his Meowstic. He Mega Evolves, but predictable Fake Out is predictable. Cormag goes first the next turn and OHKOs with Crunch. Next is Absol, which Harriet OHKOs with Force Palm. Next up is Quilladin, so I switch back to Cormag. Unfortunately, I am playing this battle during a car ride, and a bump in the road causes me to select Crunch instead of Aerial Ace, so Quilladin survives and hits with Needle Arm, dealing a laughable amount of damage. Cormag wins the battle with Aerial Ace next turn. It is now egg time!

Giving up my Azure Bay catch, I take the last of lovandra's eggs out of the PC box and go to explore the aforementioned bay. I discover, to my surprise, that there is actually much more than I remember. I land on several little islets after clearing out the remaining trainers. I eventually find a secluded little island with grass, also containing the Deepseascale and Deepseatooth. It is here, I decide, that I will hatch the egg. After running around on the island quite a bit, the egg hatches into... an Axew. When it hatched, I was literally laughing for about 20 seconds over the situation. I name him Balmung, and I do not intend to use him unless something happens to Tyrfing later.

With that done, I then proceed to the gym. The entirety of it, including Ramos, went like this:
Cormag evolved into Mega Aerodactyl!
Cormag used Aerial Ace!
The foe's Pokemon fainted!

Repeat ad not-quite-infinitum. Anyway, I get a new badge, and you know what that means. Giving up Phil the Oddish, I get Vom's last egg and fly over to the conveniently sized runway at Camphrier Town to hatch it. After a shorter amount of time than I expected, it hatches into Zorua! I name him Tybalt; after all, he's more than prince of cats! If anything, he's the prince of foxes. Anyway, with that dated reference, I end this part.

Team:
Chrys/Florges lv 36
Carrie/Gogoat lv 36
Harriet/Hariyama lv 35
Cormag/Aerodactyl lv 38
Raine/Gastrodon lv 35
Tybalt/Zorua lv 1
So Vom, does that answer your question about if I got the good eggs or not?

I'm back. Sorry about the wait, but I had midterms this week, so yay for that.

So, after training up Tybalt, I go around in the water areas I missed, catching a Goldeen, a Skrelp, and a Remoraid. In Route 13, I catch Doug the Dugtrio. Team Flare is holding the Power Plant hostage, so I defeat all of them with relative ease. Afterwards, two masked heroes appear! They are disguised, so it is impossible for me to know who they are. This is a thrilling new development, and I cannot wait to figure out the identities of these masked heroes.

So after all that, I head back towards Lumiose City, and see a mysterious tall person who walks away before anything can happen. Upon arriving in Lumiose City, Shauna forcibly railroads me towards Prism Tower - clearly, the game is trying to squeeze in every last drop of "you can't go here yet". Oh, wait, did the tower light up just now? I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention.

Inside the gym, I deal with pitifully easy quizzes and even easier battles. Raine just wrecks everything with Mud Bomb the whole time. Upon reaching Clemont, I start a battle. Raine easily beats both Emolga and Magneton with Surf and Mud Bomb, respectively. I switch Raine out for Harriet next. Why? Because Clemont's Heliolisk is packing Grass Knot. Since Heliolisk is part Normal, a Force Palm does quite nicely. Badge get!

After leaving the gym, I am called to Route 14 to meet up with the rivals. Time for a Calem battle. Tybalt beats Meowstic, Harriet beats Absol, Cormag beats Chesnaught, no surprises. They all leave, and now I can get another egg! But first, a catch. In the grass in Route 14, I find a Haunter! This is quite a stroke of luck, as they I believe they are the rarest encounters in the tall grass. I catch him and, keeping with my theme of naming members of the Gastly line after Dark Magic users from Fire Emblem, name him Pelleas.

So, eggs. Giving up Doug the Dugtrio, I go to hatch Drohn's egg. After some time, it hatches into a Bagon! I name him Muffin. Next, giving up the Goldeen I caught at Parfum Palace, I hatch Lugia123's egg. It hatches into... a Bulbasaur.

I... I'll keep this one safe.

Muffin the Bagon and Celeris the Bulbasaur are both boxed for now. It is time to train. Luckily, Lugia123 also helped me by trade-evolving Pelleas. Temporarily boxing Harriet, I bring my new Gengar onto the team and train everybody up to level 42, so that they are all on par with the upcoming gym. Afterwards, I check the daycare and holy smokes, Tyrfing is level 48. This is, I think, about the right time to take her out. The daycare fee barely takes a dent off of my massive money pile. Afterwards, I put Mercurius the Ralts and Titus the Larvitar in the daycare, since they are my two primary replacements at this point.

I return to Route 14 and go over to the haunted house. The man there tells a story that is 100000spoopy200000me. For his story's amazing spoopiness, I tip him 100 Pokedollars, which is enough to seem nice, but not enough to actually allow him to buy anything useful. In Laverre, I search around the city, obtaining a Gengarite for my troubles, aww yis. Time to challenge the gym.

So, with Pelleas now being able to Mega-Evolve, all the enemy Pokemon essentially curl up and die to one Venoshock, with the sole exception of a Klefki, which is dealt with just as easily by a Mud Bomb from Raine. I finally reach Valerie's room, and the battle begins. Mawile is dispatched easily by another Mud Bomb from Raine. I decide to leave Raine in for the Mr. Mime, since she knows Clear Smog, but immediately remember upon having already made that decision that Mr. Mime probably knows Magical Leaf. As Mr. Mime puts up a Light Screen, I switch out to Carrie, having made the decision to simply bludgeon it as hard as possible with Seed Bomb. This strategy is used to great success, and Mr. Mime faints. Next, Valerie sends in Sylveon, and I switch to Pelleas. Pelleas Mega-Evolves and blasts Sylveon with Venoshock, which takes away a little under half-health, not nearly as much as I was expecting. The Light Screen wears off later that turn, so I have Pelleas use Venoshock again. I honestly can't remember if the Sylveon fainted after that or I had to use Venoshock again, but I still won. I win a shiny new badge, and an actually decent attack for Chrys.

Team (can't remember levels):
Chrys/Florges
Carrie/Gogoat
Cormag/Aerodactyl
Raine/Gastrodon
Tybalt/Zoroark
Pelleas/Gengar
