Writing Dimensions Apart

This is my first ever fic, I chose to write this because I really wanted to start something new, and odd enough, I came up with an idea for this story. It has taken me awhile to write up the prologue, but it shouldn't be a problem though. Zyflair/Incinermyn I'm sorry if this is formatted wrong, I've been looking at other people's stories to format mine, if mine isn't, I'll polish it until it's in the right format.

What Really Happens In the World of Limbo?

Limbo has been speculated upon by many, a place where the dead wait...wait for final judgement. What if you just couldn't go on without doing that one very important thing? In Dimensions Apart, the world of Limbo is explored, and, sacred rules are explained that cannot be broken. Limbo is a broken realm, governed by vast fields and towering mountains that go on for an infinite range. For centuries this hallowed entrance to both Heaven and Hell has been populated by the people of every time, as well as Limbo is ruled by two governing powers; The Republic, which is ruled by the common people; and the Warlords, a brutal empire made up of many different armies, as well as violent people. Murderers and famous people traverse this world as well, as does as our friend, Ensis. Now, enter the life of Ensis, who lives in a time no different than ours, and who soon delves into a most infamous place...Limbo

Dimensions Apart

Prologue

4/6/88
Lightning roared as a lonely, dull grey house that stood out from the land before it was filled with relief. A baby was born into the world! The sobbing mother, with all her family in an embraced ring around her were calling for names, until a piercing, but calm voice broke through the squabble, saying "Ensis," and with that, the room fell silent, the family members bowed in respect for the family Elder.

Calmly, the mother spoke, "thank you, Malum, for helping me name your grandchild." Quietly nodding, Malum strode out, leaving the family members to take care of Ensis.

Six years forward, 7/4/94
Ensis and his grandfather were very close, even closer after Ensis's father had died. After this event, Malum knew what he wanted for his grandson. Malum was always a wise man, as well as a very strong man. He towered over others, being 7'4, and was also very strong, so strong in fact, that he could very easily lift boulders that no one else could lift. He had piercing blue eyes, and a relaxed attitude. However, he had one flaw; power. He hungered for it, he desperately wanted it. Keeping this secret ambition to himself, he created his clan, training each member to be fit, as well as intelligent. Malum saw something else in his grandchild, something far more powerful in him than the rest of the family. He saw desire, and raw power itself. Every day Malum would take the young Ensis out, and everyday Ensis would grow stronger, quite so that his strength would double everday.

One day, during Ensis's training, a robed man dressed in white appeared, and suddenly, Malum's eyes grew wide with fear. With a panicked frenzy, Malum struggled with the robed man for awhile, until eventually, the robed man lifted him like a rag doll and declared in a booming voice; "Now, Malum, for your crime against his Holiness, I condemn you to a place worse than the fiery pits of Hell itself; Limbo!"

With a sudden surge of air, a black hole opened, and Malum was devoured by the strange hole. As immediately as the hole appeared, it was gone, as well as the robed figure. With tears running down his face, Ensis ran home, unsure of what to say. As soon as his mom noticed him, she saw the tears in his eyes and asked "What's wrong son? What happened?" Immediately, one thousand voices filled his head, each with a sinister voice telling him to lie. Ignoring the voices in his head, he quickly screamed out all of the events he had seen happen with his grandfather. His mother replied with a hushed and sad tone "Are you sure? I think you're using your imagination Ensis..." Ensis grabbed his mother's hand and immediately pulled her to the boulder-strewn training ground he and his grandfather were at and had her look around with him.

Worried, his mother started pacing back and forth, walking faster with each foot step. After 45 minutes of searching, Ensis and his mom rushed quickly backed to their home and the Police were called. After a four day investigation, the Police had given up, and his mother kept a tired look from that day forward.

A week after Malum's mysterious disappearance, the family held a funeral, and many people were there, crowding the church up. Noticing the many people, Ensis looked around and spotted a mysterious figure that looked similar to the robed figure that had caused Malum's disappearance. As both eyes met, the mysterious man started walking quickly away, and Ensis had immediately started to follow him. Leaving the church, Ensis quickly found his target bounding away, towards a near forest. Angrily rushing into the forest, Ensis spotted the man, who was unaware of Ensis's presence. Quietly Ensis trudged forwards, until the two figures were a mere five feet apart. Immediately, the man turned around and chuckled. Surprised, Ensis was suddenly jerked forwards by the man. With quick speed the man asked "Do you believe in angels?" and with an uncertain reply, Ensis answered back with a quick nod. Gently, the man put the boy down and told him not to worry about his grandfather, and that the truth will eventually be learned, and with the blink of an eye, the man was gone. Stunned, Ensis stumbled back to the Church, millions of thoughts rushing through his head. Soon after his return, people began to slowly shuffle out, most still mourning.

Dragging their feet, both mother and son walked home, the mother now blankly staring off, and Ensis, pondering what the man meant.

That night, Ensis awoke with a start, his rest disturbed by a blowing wind. For a second Ensis thought it was just the wind blowing, then realized that a note had blown in. Delicately picking it up, the note read "Your grandfather is not the man you think he is. Divine Intervention is the only way." Ensis threw away the note in disgust, and immediately went back to sleep with a tear in his eye.

The next day was a bleak one, a storm starting to arrive, so Ensis decided to quickly do his outside chores then go to sleep. In the middle of raking leaves, another note fell from the sky which Ensis read loudly "You will be called upon one day, you are the Hero Limbo needs." Unsure what to say, he crinkled the note up and hid it away, not telling his mother any of what happened.

That night, Ensis was laying in bed, trying to sleep, when thunder started to echo outside. Suddenly, his stomach lurched and the room started to spin, and Ensis had fainted. Ensis awoke startled, waking up in an unfamiliar room that was full of strange markings, standing in front of him stood the mysterious man, which held his hand out to help Ensis stand up.

In a strange, calm voice, Ensis asked quietly "Who are you? Tell me what you want with me, and what exactly did you do with my grandfather?"

With an odd grin, the man replied back "I am The Watcher, I watch over the world of the living and I know the fate of all men. I have brought you here to tell you the truth of your fate."

Shocked, Ensis whispered "M-m-my fate?" and The Watcher replied "Yes, for it is your destiny to save the world of the living from the world that holds man back; Limbo."

Ensis's mind started to swirl with the very idea of himself being the saviour of the world, but was interrupted by the Watcher, who told him only time will tell when Ensis will be called upon to save the living world, and immediately Ensis fell asleep, the next morning he woke up in his room, now wondering if everything that he saw was a dream.

It was a nice intro to the whole story, Equinox! Plot seems interesting so I'm looking forward to the next installment. ;) One tidbit of advice though, don't mash the series of events into just one chapter. Slow down the story and start from the top and you should be fine. :)

Ahh, that was what I felt like when writing the prologue, as was also one of my worries, but I couldn't put it into words :p Chapter one will begin when I get the time to write it.
