Ruling Discarding Boost Energy

Pokedad here. The description on Boost Energy (DF) states: Discard boost energy at the end of the turn it was attached. This seems straightforward; however, I ran across the following in the WotC Compendium Rulings:

Q. If I attach a Boost energy to Forretress (Discovery) and Rapid Spin to the bench and bring up Light Dragonite as my Active, does the Boost stay on Forretress since Light Dragonite is now my active Pokemon before the end of my turn?
A. Yes it would. (May 22, 2003 WotC Chat, Q1651)

So now I am confused. If I attach a Boost Energy to the bench (say, to Ampharos d) with Magneton (PK) active, must it be discarded at the end of the turn after using Magneton's Magnetic Force attack?

Thanks!

Of course you would. The only reason Boost would stay on that Forretress is because Miraculous Wind or whatever it's called gets rid of all of Boost's effects, which include the discarding bit.

Ampharos d and Magneton PK say nothing about saving your Energy cards or changing their effects or whatnot, so yes the Boost would get discarded.

Unless there's something I'm not seeing, I read your post many times trying to see if there was something I missed.

I agree with PMJ. Light Dragonite's power negates any text in Special Energy cards and turns them into a single colorless energy, sort of like Crystal Beach. That's why it would stay on, since the Boost energy's effect is gone. However, the act of moving the energy around doesn't change the fact that you attached it that turn. It doesn't matter WHO you attached it to, just that you attached it.

Now, if your opponent somehow pushed L. Dragonite away during his next turn, causing Boost's power to activate again, my guess is that Boost would be immediately discarded since the turn it was attached on has already expired. That I'm not sure about.

Boost isn't being moved to anyone; it stays on Forretress, Forretress is the one being moved.

I think Boost would remain, but its other effects would stay (can't retreat, only attached to evolved monsters, I think that's it).

Right, but I'm saying that even if the energy was moved around (via Energy Jump or something else) it would still be discarded at the end of that turn. The L. Dragonite example is special because his power negates any text on those energy cards, which includes the discarding and no retreating effects. As soon as L. Dragonite got benched though, the text comes back up and then you have to think about Boost getting discarded immediately or not. That's the ruling I'm interested in, as it could have an effect on a couple combos of mine if Boost was able to stay.

The Magneton (PK) example though doesn't sound like a special case. Boost would still be discarded at the end of the turn, unless Ampharos δ does something that affects it, which I'm pretty sure doesn't happen.

Pokedad here. Thanks for the clarification gentlemen! What I found confusing was the meaning of the term "effects" in the description of Miraculous Wind, Light Dragonite's Pokemon Power, which from your responses apparently is quite broad. Pokemon terminology can be dense to new players like myself. In my reading, which would be reasonable in non Pokemon circles, the "effect" of boost energy is to provide 3x colorless energy when attached; the discard is not part of the effect, but rather a provision limiting the effect (or potential effect--I suppose there are ways to nullify/block the effect) to the turn in which the card is attached and so adding an element of risk to its play. Thus, the Wotc ruling appeared to be inconsistent with the unequivocal (I thought) requirement to "Discard boost energy...". I'll get better at this as times goes on...
Thanks!
