Do sleeved cards still get scratches?

If you play with them?
We all know that they get brutally scratched when played without sleeves, but do sleeved cards still get scratches?
I remember playing Yu-Gi-Oh and I don't even think that it really scratched any of my cards, but from what I can tell, Pokemon cards are definitely much more prone to scratches.

I also bought some Card Barrier by KMC, does anyone know how good these sleeves are?
Japanese sleeves are usually thinner, are they also smaller in terms of length and width?

Last question, why are reflective sleeves banned?
Those are the only thing that I used to use, they do fade out easily, but they make your cards really cool.

1. They don't get scratches - within reason. If you play the cards, it is inevitable that they will take SOME wear and tear.

2. I don't Know

3. Reflective Sleeves are banned - any that it could be possible to see the card above it using the back of the card. Also, See-Through sleeves are banned also, in case there are some sort of subtle markings - or legitimate damage - that will let you discern one card from another.

While not really scratches, most cards when played with for an extended amount of time will pick up small roundish marks, usually on the back of the card. I'm not entirely sure why, but they're definitely related to play. Pokemon cards usually don't get standard scratches if you play with sleeves. The exceptions are reverse holos, which are extremely sensitive and tend to pick up scratches on the card face even when sleeved.

In short, yes, Pokemon cards are very prone to wear. I find Japanese cards to be a bit better than their english counterparts, though.

KMC produces VERY good sleeves, they're my sleeves of choice for most decks in every TCG I play. I find their Matte sleeves to be better than the rest of their lines, like Super, but that may just be me. Regardless, you're getting a high quality product. Far better than your average western brands like Ultra Pro, Dragon Shield or Max Protection.

I am 99.99% sure that sleeved cards are almost immune to scratches ETC. Proof: I never sleeved when I fist bougt caards. Byy the end of the day (I had hardly used them) They were COVERED with scratches. I bough this big pokemon card folder a now, playing with them for months, you can only see 1 or to scratches. In face 3 quarters of my cards are in perfect condition.

The only cards that ever get messed up are the sleeves you get at a prerelease. Mine got trashed when I shuffled them.

I hate to burst your bubble, but... No. See-through sleeves are perfectly acceptable as long as you are not playing Japanese cards. I used clear sleeves at Nats last year, and Worlds the year before.

^As long as the cards can't be distinguished by just the backs, it's fine. If all backs are clean, sure, you can use clear ones.
If the card type and name/type/description/image/whatever can be clearly seen by reflection, sleeves are illegal.
Anyway @OP I know what you're talking about, but it's not so bad. Most cards you won't be able to play enough with before they get rotated out to see any noticeable damage. The only ones that are clearly ruined through time are Energy cards. I'm not sure if playing them causes the damage or if it's just resleeving them all the time (for people like me who don't play often that's probably it, lol).

If you don't make sure there are no crumbs or anything else in the card sleeve when you put the card in there, and make sure that it doesn't get those kinds of things in the card sleeve with the card, then yes, it is possible for cards in card sleeves to get scratches
