Do World Champ decks include normal cards?

Hi deck mechanics.

Why can a person not use a POKEMON 2007 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DECK in tournament play? Are the cards included normal Pokemon cards?

I would like to buy a couple of these decks and use some of the cards as a starting point for building my own deck. I've read however on all of the websites selling them that: "Because of the format of each card these cannot be used in tournament play."

u can't cuz u are buying practically fake cards. look at bthe backs of the cards. theyre different.

It's because some of the decks come with really rare and hard to get cards, so getting them from those decks would ruin their rarity status.
It'd make having to buy packs and relying on luck pointless.
So that's why.

if the cards in Worlds decks were legal, then pokemon would go out of buisness because you could get all the cards you need in them

Thanks for the clarification.

It really did seem too good to be true ... so where do I dig up tips for buying cards and building decks cheaply?

I'm hungry for cards, Munchlaxx.

buy em on card buyer sites such as www.collectorscache.com they should have the cards you want

Look around in deck garages. Ask for advice on your own deck. Buy a starter or so. Buy the loose cards needed for a deck. You can start off pretty cheaply depending on the deck you want.

I would recommend you buy a theme deck first, and play it against your friends for a while. Then buy some boosters/single cards to edit your theme deck to make it better. Finally, when you think you are ready, get some of your loose cards and start building your custom built deck.

here is an example of a good cheap priced deck
u use 4-2-2 of wormdam plant and mothim. 2 mothim and 2 wormadam 1.60 on ebay
and 3-3 venomoth secret wonders. 3 venomoth for 0.35 cents.
hope this helps

Thanks for the tips.

Does anyone have any suggestions what single or combo cards to buy and swap into our theme decks to... :

1. ...help us get our heavy hitters active faster?
2. ...heal them or support them easier once they have taken a few hits?
3. ...or add some other new dimension to the deck stratgy?

My son and I each have a theme deck now, he has Powerhouse (a Secret Wonders Theme Deck) and I bought Shadow Blaze (an Ex Dragon Frontiers Theme Deck)

I recommend buying DP-onwards theme decks because the ex-decks are getting out of the format very soon. So far, among all the decks I've seen Empoleon deck is probably the best for making a meta-game deck because it has Empoleon which is one of the most popular pokemon in the 2007 World Championship, modify it by buying a few more to get several Empoleons or buy booster packs or buy individual Empoleons online. Use the Piplup-Prinplup-Empoleon line in numbers of 4-3-4 and add in some rare candy cards, it will make a naturally good deck.

An Empoleon deck would be fun ... I did order a set of 4 World series decks from eBay yesterday ... but maybe we will build a "real" one based on the Royal frost theme deck someday.

Empoleon deck is nice
Wht don't you build one, with 2-2 Mantine, to retreat cost 0 for empoleon

That sounds like a good one ... How do I research various Empoleon deck list options without asking anyone to post a deck list in the Deck garage?

P.S. this is getting off topic so maybe I should start a new thread.
