Ok, todays topic on the Dr. Eric show is "do you think Pokemon is geeky?" Like yesterday, I'll go first. When the TCG first came out, I never thought it was geeky (but I was in like 2nd or 3rd Grade). But now I'm 13 and back into the games, and honostly.....I think it is kind of geeky. However I love to play it, som I'm willing to sacrafice being a geek to have fun :D. Alright guys, your turn.
 
No I don't think its geeky. I think its a complicated metagame that is worldwidely popular even in older kids. Btw, I'm 14.
 
I played ever since pokemon can out. I am also 13. I know a lot of people in my middle school that plays pokemon and we all don't care because no one make fun of us or anything.
 
100% Yes. A bunch of Teenagers spending all there money on pieces of cardboard with pictures from an 8 year olds TV show. Yeah, that's geeky alright. Do I care? Heck no! Geeky or not, it is non and played on a global scalle, is profitable, and is an enjoyable way to hang out with people, and test your mind in ways beyond chess. No one plays it in my school though, so i keep the fact I play quite, but if they find out, I really wouldn't care. After all, I'm sure people said Bill Gates and Al Einstein were geeky.
 
Of course not, almost everyone in my class play it and it's an acticity that could eat up your time so quickly you woudn't know it, and you could meet new friends by playing.:p
 
pokemon takes strategy to play, you need to plan ur moves right.building a deck makes you strategize.so how can u say its geeky?it makes you think before you act.

btw, its only geeky if ur an addict to it and keep buying cards
 
I don't think its geeky, and i'm 17. 8D ~ I've been obsessed with the cards since 3rd grade ( and i'm going into my senior year ).
 
It's not geeky to someone who is play the game. People who don't will think that people who play are geeky as it isn't as popular as it used to be. If it became a global phenomena again, then it wouldn't be geeky in the slightest. So it basically depends on how popular the game is at any time.

oh no you didn't, chess isn't geeky.

and anyway no card game is geeky. they're just hobbies, and if someone thinks your geeky because you play it. they're are the real geeks. Because someone who judges you based on your hobbies, they are in no way cool. TCGs will conquer the world when every single human is fat and cant play sports. That is all ready in the process because of games like world of warcraft, runescape, maple story. And activities such as tv, video games, and whatever else i can think of.
 
The way I see it a game is only as geeky as the fans make it. Pokemon is uncool but I can think of things that are far more geeky.
