Ruling Does Special Energy Follow The Same Rules As Basic Energy?

So i have been getting back into pokemon TCG after about 6 months since school was overwhelming, and i am unsure whether i can use my old special energies, such as my Blend Energy. I also could not find any information about it online. Thanks in advance!

No. Special Energy is subject to the formats, as any other card barring Basic Energy. Blend Energy, from DRX, is only legal in the Expanded Format.
