I want to know if any of you guys here on the Beach think donking is
bad for the game of Pokemon. A lot of these threads have been popping up on the gym and they have also been saying things that seniors net-deck these donk decks to win. So I wondering what people here have to say.

Well, I have never played donk decks, and I have only been donked by decks that weren't supposed to donk, so I'd say they don't really affect the game. I'm sure others have different feelings on this, though.

Most on the Gym are whining about it.

Well, they need to get over it :p
Same goes for Macheap. I have never been Macheap donked, and Hurricane Punch always fails when used against me.

I'll speak you when you get donked twice in the finals of a tournament by Macheap.

That's not going to happen, Lou. I've played this game for a long two years, and have never been donked by a donk deck. That's not about to change =P

If you haven't experienced it, you should not mingle in a discussion about a subject you clearly know nothing about which in this case is Donks.

There is a reason why people that have been Donked think it's bad for the game. But that reason is very hard, if not impossible, to explain to people that haven't been Donked yet. (Those that aren't should consider themselves lucky)

I understand the subject. It's not too complex =P

There are ways of not getting donked. Just play around the metagame. If your metagame is Macheap, play Unown G. Simple as that.

When you play 13 basics, AND 4 Call Energy, AND your basic has a 50-50 chance of avoiding the donk, you can STILL get donked. TWICE. So Pokechamp, dont say it aint ever gonna happen, because its all in the luck of the draw and coinflip.

Yeah. Draw that Unown G in your starting hand first. Come back to me when you did. CUZ THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN EITHER. You know JACK about donks Champ, YOU. DONT. KNOW. ANYTHING. about it. So I suggest you keep out of this as you obviously have no idea how random taurosdung luck can work against you.

In my opinion, it's too unlikely that someone will get the T1 donk, that's it's really nothing to worry about and isn't going to ruin the game. When someone gets a donk with something odd, I would feel happy for them that they would be able to pull off something like that.

That's how I feel about it. Like I said, I haven't been donked. I've seen it happen to others, but it's never happened to me. I've seen the odds in play, and it is not as easy as people make it out to be.

I have donked, father forgive me, I have donked. But it is just another way of playing. I used to hate Spread decks, because they can Ko your pokemon at once and leave you naked.

Seriously, what is the point of this thread besides being a gateway for ranting? Donks happen, whether you like it or not (and I love the classic example of Claydol vs Raichu GL/Luxray GL). If you get donked, then live with it. Actually if you're going first why are you even trying to let it live (unless it's a main attacker)?

Donks are part of the game. It's a simple truth.

For those of you who say it doesn't matter, don't you think it's annoying that some people build decks that focus solely on a T1/T2 win? What fun is it to play against a deck that does nothing but mindlessly 1HKO? Not much.

Actually, try it. See how hard it is. When you focus on get a 80%+ chance of a T1 donk (assuming you go second), the result is a fun game. And I don't care if the opponent had no basics left. Eitehr they have no recovery skills or is just unlucky (take your pick).

It's not fun. I played against a Machamp deck at Regionals, and the whole game was me watching him play card after card, praying he wouldn't get the cards he needed to donk. I was relieved when he failed, but then he donked me with a Crobat G.:(

The only thing i dislike about donking is that it discourages strategy based decks. When you find two or three cards that have perfect synergy and make a deck that runs conssitantly it means nothing if your opponent can pull the 1-0-1 Champ with a Candy. I know personally, I got lucky enough to have an Unown G out against both T1 Champ and Gengar, and 3 basics against Kingdra, which allowed me to play out the games and win. But the odds would've still been against me for that to happen, and my day would've ended a lot sooner.

And how fun is it to drive to a different state and go 3-4 with all of your games lasting about 2 minutes?
