Hey everyone, so Today I got a hold of 4 Donphan Primes, and I really like the card and well I need to but my Scizor deck down for a while because of all the fire in the format, so Im trying to figure out which pokemon to pair with Donphan. I know there Yanmega or Machamp or Samurott. anyone have opinions or ideas?

Please remember to include card scans when looking for combos/ideas. Thanks! ~Gliscor

Kingdra Prime? Make Kingphan! I played this combo for awhile and found it alot of fun. Both 1 energy attackers and both can setup fast! (Wasn't abnormal to have 1x Donphan prime, 1x Kingdra prime setup t2)

If you don't go with the kingdra, I would say go machamp as you can abuse fighting tag when your active get's low on HP (then seeker or SSU to heal)

^Kingphan is probably the best idea, even though Dragon Steam only does 20 if there are fire in play. Or you could run Donphan with Cincinno. Here's a basic Pokemon list for it:

4-4 Donphan
2-2-2 Kingdra Prime or 2-2 Cincinno
3 Cleffa HGSS/CoL or 3 Mantine HGSS or 3 Smeargle UD/CoL

And there's a Basic list, though with Cincinno you'll have to run many Basics. You could even run Pichu HGSS as the starter.

What about Reuniclus + Seeker? You can keep your Donphan alive perpetually forever. Nidoqueen is also good to go with Donphan (never mind Reuniclus), since it heals all your guys 20 a turn. It nulls EQ bench damage.
Of course, those are defensive. As for a combo attacker, the best one is obviously Kingdra Prime - good damage input for very little energy.

Donphan with Zekrom is the best, play two DCE and 2 Zekrom. Counters most Water types, Earthquake builds up Outrage damage, you can also use Boufallant as well to counter RDL. Works beautifully.

Zekrom??? eww

I'd recommend Ampharos Prime. Its lightning typing will help to counter the water types that hit Donphan for weakness and the fliers that resist it such as Mandibuzz. The Poke Body will also give a helping hand in the Reshiboar and Blastgatr matchups.

I just feel like it takes to long to set up and its not what I need for a late game attacker Ive tested it with Ampharos and its deccent and I plays ruins of Alph so no one resists me :p

Machamp prime is probably best. load up at least 1-2 energy on donphan. then fighting tag it out when its about to die. Seeker/SSU it back up to heal. DCE on champ and you swing for 60 or 100. I've tried it online and love it

Donchamp is imo the BDIF right now. It really does work well, especially with Seekers and Fighting Tag to heal and deny prizes. While special energy denial ends up being your weakness, it's also your weapon, so it's not so bad. Consider Lost Removers to back up Crushing Punch. Ampharos Prime is a nice tech against Reshiram, which is imo one of your worst matchups.

Donphan/Samurott has a LOT of potential as an anti-metagame deck, and in fact 2-1-2 Samurott teched into Donchamp isn't out of place at all. You've got switches, and it will take fighting energy nicely making it another candidate for a Fighting Tag.
