I definitely have a feeling that Dorapion is related to Gligar, wether it be through prevo or evo. His eyes are the same, same color, same general appearence, and they're both scorpions. Anyone else have ideas about this?

Yeah, but he still learned posion moves and is still classified as a Scorpion. Also, check out my sig. Either way, I like Dorapion very much. He's gonna be awesome to train (and if he doesn't evolve into Gligar, I can't wait to see what he does!)
theres a posiblity that he looks big but he is small.

well, you can train him as soon as you get your balls, cause he's aviable at the begginning!

Score! If not, I'm sure he evolves into some uber kinda Stage 1 (Kinda like Gulpin-Swalot is the man!)

I don't hope he's small, I hope one of two things:
He's HUGE and doesn't evolve.
He's average and evolves once.
He's tiny and evolves twice (like Aron).

Dorapion and Gilgar do have some similarities, being the fact that they are both Scorpions. Although, I don't know how a Flying type becomes a Ground/Poison type? If Dorapion is related to Gligar, I hope this is how it works out:
-Dorapion evolves a few times.
-Gligar is either a prevo or the basic form of the whole line.

Yeah, they have similarities, but I doubt that they are connected by evolving. It just doesn't seem like it would loose it's wings. It certainly isn't little, it looks menacing. Nintendo have always followed the theory that they loose their "cuteness" as they evolve. So baisically, good point, but I doubt it.
I think dorapion and gligar are branching evoloutions of the same pokemon. For example the slopoke family
slopoke -> Slobro (so maybe-> ) preevo-> Gligar

p.s if you look at the purple pokemon on the front of the coro coro magazine it doesn't appear to be the dorapion. Could this be preevoloution?

It might. They look similar, thats all I can say. Or as what burningcharizard said, it is also possible that its branch evo.
they do somewhat alike, but Gligar might not be even in D/P. we aren't sure if it is or not.

I hope D/P isn't like Ruby or Sapphire where you can't get all the Pokemon. I hope that the Pokedex in D/P is complete. Meanwhile, I agree with what BurningCharizard said. It makes sense.
