If you have any questions about whether or not you can evolve Card A into Card B, look at Card B. It will say "Evolves from ________" on it.
That is the ONLY thing you can use to evolve into Card B. Example:
Let's say Card B is Wigglytuff ex. It says "Evolves from Jigglypuff" on it. That means that any card called "Jigglypuff" is a valid option to evolve into Wigglytuff ex. Cards with names in them, like Erika's Jigglypuff, are considered part of the Pokemon's name. You could NOT evolve Erika's Jigglypuff into Wigglytuff ex because Wigglytuff ex does not say "Evolves from Erika's Jigglypuff" on it.
In order for you to evolve Erika's Jigglypuff into anything, it would have to say "Evolves from Erika's Jigglypuff." Note that since it doesn't say "Evolves from Jigglypuff", you couldn't use a regular Jigglypuff - the card would HAVE to be "Erika's Jigglypuff."
A few cards let you pick what you want to evolve from. A good example of this is Scizor ex. It states that it "Evolves from Scyther or Scyther ex."
That means that you can either evolve Scyther into Scizor ex, or you can evolve Scyther ex into Scizor ex. Either one's fine.
However, you can NOT play Rocket's Scyther and evolve it into Scizor ex, because Scizor ex does not say "Evolves from Rocket's Scyther."
This goes for Rocket's Pokemon, Dark Pokemon, Light Pokemon... it's all the same. The name on the card has to match EXACTLY. "Numel" and "Team Magma's Numel" are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT Pokemon. You can't evolve Dark Charmeleon into Charizard ex because Charizard ex evolves from Charmeleon, not Dark Charmeleon.
Light Dragonair can't evolve into Dark Dragonite because Dark Dragonite evolves from Dark Dragonair, not Light Dragonair.
I think I've given enough examples. Let me know if you're still confused.
