Ruling Dual Armor + Shield Energy

Say I have this guy:

and I have a basic Metal Energy attached to him, activating his Dual Armor. That, then, would allow me to attach Shield Energy...

because Shield Energy can only be attached to Metal Pokemon, and until he gets that body activated, Lucario is just Fighting.

My question is, say that basic Energy would be removed somehow, by whatever means, and then the only Energy left would be the Shield Energy. Which is the correct course of action?

A. Shield Energy is discarded because the card states it can only be attached to Metal Pokemon, and without a proper Metal Energy attached, Dual Armor is not activated since its activation is dependent on having Metal Energy attached, or

B. Shield Energy is not discarded because it was already attached to Lucario, satisfying Dual Armor's requirement of having Metal Energy attached.

Personally I am leaning towards scenario A, but I could see it argued both ways.
