Durant– the awesomest mill since sliced bread

Okay, I know Durant hasn't been released yet. But when it does, it'll be pretty cool. Here's what it does:
The awesome people who designed this awesome card said:
Durant - Metal - HP70
Basic Pokemon

[M] Devour: Discard a number of cards from the top of your opponent's deck equal to the number of Durant your have in play.
[C][C] ViceGrip: 30 damage.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 1
Yeah, Vicegrip is horrid. I know. But Devour can, well, devour your opponent's deck until they don't have one. What a fitting name.
Okay, here's the list:

4x Durant (sort of need them to have a Durant deck)
1x Rotom (If we have even 1 Durant Prized, well, things don't go too well)
2-2 Weavile (While we're discarding from the deck, why not disrupt a little more...?)
1x Mime Jr (If I'm stuck with my opponent at 5 cards in his deck and 1 Prize left, but he can OHKO my Durant, this can hopestall at the very least)

4x Pokémon Collector (Gotta catch all the Durant T1)
3x Dual Ball (More Durant-grabbing power!)
4x Eviolite (Not getting OHKO'd every turn would be nice)
4x Defender (Yeah, same thing here)
4x Revive (I sort of need 4 Durant out each turn to make this deck work...)
2x Alph Lithograph TR (The one that lets me look at my prizes, so I don't run blindly with Rotom)
4x Junk Arm (getting cards back is nice)
2x Professor Juniper (Might need some refresh)
2x Professor Oak's New Theory (More refresh)
2x Seeker (Pickin' up my Weavile, Rotom, Durant...)
4x Twins (I'm not taking any prizes, so this might be a good idea)
4x PokéGear 3.0 (To drop the T1 Collector)
2x SSU (To pick up damaged Durant)

4x Special Metal energy (Keepin' my Durant alive)
5x Metal Energy (Cuz I can't have more than 4 Special Metal Energy, but I still need to attack)

Yeah, so basically I get 4 Durant in play and spam Devour. I'm looking to KO my opponent's deck instead of his Pokémon.

I'm worried about the balance between speed and recovery here. And the ability to get my Weavile out. Any thoughts?

Eviolite - Trainer

Pokemon Tool: To use a Pokemon Tool attach it to one of your Pokemon. Each Pokemon can only have 1 Pokemon Tool card attached to it.

Any damage received by the Basic Pokemon that this card is attached to is reduced by 20.

You can use any number of Trainer cards during your turn.

Super Rod - Trainer

Search your discard pile for up to 3 in any combination of Pokemon and basic Energy cards. Show them to your opponent and shuffle them into your deck.

You can use any number of Trainer cards during your turn.

RE: Durant– the awesomest stall since sliced bread

a problem i see against durant is it can be one shotted by Reshiram's outrage with a plus power. in fact if the draw is lucky at first turn, reshiram plus DCE plus plus power equals donk.

RE: Durant– the awesomest stall since sliced bread

Not if Durant has Eviolite attached or I played Defender last turn. Plus, I'm aiming to discard quite a few cards, so hopefully I'll get Pluspowers in there.

Besides, even if that was an auto-loss, there's nothing I can do short of changing the deck entirely to fix it.

RE: Durant– the awesomest stall since sliced bread

i guess every deck has a weakness. in the end what matters is the fun you get in playing a deck. good luck on this build when it goes live.

RE: Durant– the awesomest stall since sliced bread

You don't need that many Communications with only 10 Pokemon. I would take out 2 and the SSU for 3 Seeker. You want to be able to spam Weavile a couple times for more hand disruption. You're going to need to fit a couple Super Rods in once they come out too. If your Durants keep getting KOed you need to get either them or their energy back into the deck.

RE: Durant– the awesomest stall since sliced bread

^ I was about to mention Seeker. I wouldn't use that many Communication either. I also think we don't need that many "refresh" cards, so I'd take out the PONT and an Alph Lithograph for an SSU. We need to keep a couple SSU so that if we're damaged, we can hopefully Scoop our Durant and reused the Eviolite, Metal, and Durant back with a fresh 70 HP.

Now, WE FORGOT TEAM ROCKET'S TRICKERY. That discards a card from our opponent's hand and gives us two cards. We need this. We could pitch a Juniper and a Dual Ball for two of 'em. Dual Ball is a little inconsistent, and we're banking on our Pokemon Collector to get our Durant.

...and I've got a better idea.

Pokegear 3.0. This will definitely increase our chances of getting a Collector T1. I say we shove four of these in the deck while getting rid of a few of our refresh cards. That's to your discretion, because I'm probably going to be using a different mix in my deck.

RE: Durant– the awesomest stall since sliced bread

Alright, so here's how it went:
-2 Pokémon Communication
-1 Dual Ball
-1 Eviolite
-1 Defender
-1 Judge
-1 SSU
-1 Rescue Energy
+2 Seeker
+4 PokéGear 3.0
+2 Super Rod

I'm a little iffy on TRT. It doesn't really help a whole lot, I'd rather just play Juniper or PONT. I suppose it could hurt my opponent, but I'd rather use my Supporter for the turn on, say, a Twins.

I'd really like to include the SSU, but I feel like if my opponent can't OHKO me, I'm going to win either way. Anyone think Catcher could be a good idea for this deck? I want to include it, there's just not really anything I could afford to take out.

RE: Durant– the awesomest stall since sliced bread

Yeah I like the SSU in there as well. Rather than taking out that and the Eviolite, get rid of the Junk Arm or Rescue Energy. You have Revive and those Super Rod.

RE: Durant– the awesomest stall since sliced bread

Okay, so:
-1 Rescue Energy
-1 Junk Arm
+2 SSU

I'm worried about recovery a bit. I have 4 Revive, 1 Junk Arm, and 2 Super Rod. If I want to be able to get 5 Durant back in during the course of a game, that'll take a combination of 5 of those (as with Super Rod, I'll only get 1 Durant– no point in waiting until 2 are KO'd, that's 1 less card to mill). I don't know if I'll be able to get them out– maybe with a Twins chain it could work, but I'll have to see.

RE: Durant– the awesomest stall since sliced bread

I think we'll be fine. We have four Twins, those four PokeGear and quite a bit of draw power in this deck, so I think we'll be OK. Not to mention we'll probably run into players that run Copycat/Judge as well. The list looks good. I think I'll test it in a bit.

The setup is nice, it looks difficult to pull a metal energy T1 though. You have no method of getting energy at all.

This deck would do soooo well with a 4 4 PokedexDP Drawer engine....

I'd remove a Judge for a Eviolite since Judge just lets your opponent raise the amount of cars in their deck if they have a large hand.

I don't think I'll have too much of a problem with the energy. With 9 energy, having 1 in the top 8 cards (7 plus T1 draw) is pretty likely. Besides, I could always just PONT/Juniper (or PokéGear for PONT/Juniper) and probably draw into one.

I want to have at least 5 hand refresh cards, so I'll take out the Judge (as you said, Judge could be a disadvantage if my opponent has a large hand) but add in a PONT instead.
-1 Judge
+1 PONT

Thank you all so much for the input. I really appreciate it; it helps a lot.

BTW, I'm torn between posting on this thread or your thread in the Sandbox. I don't want to be repetitive, but.....

Which one would you rather have posts in?

Wherever you'd feel they're more appropriate, I guess. If it's relating to Durant in general, I guess in the Sandbox, but comments on this list specifically should probably go here.
