Emboar has been around for a long time, seeing some success in Reshiboar. Sadly, its time is probably up with the introduction of Keldeo EX to the format.
Onto the card. Emboar is a 150 HP Stage 2, which, among non EX Pokemon is only topped by Charizard, at 160 HP. Its Fire typing isn't ideal considering that Blastoise/ Keldeo EX, one of the most hyped decks, hits it for weakness. It has no Resistance and a terrible retreat cost of 4. Its attack is rather boring, doing a vanilla 80 damage for 2 Fire and 2 Colorless. However, its Ability, Inferno Fandango, is something worth looking at- it lets you break the normal rule of Energy attachments and attach as much Fire Energy from your hand as you want during your turn. Obviously, this is best paired with Pokemon that uses a lot of Fire Energy. There are 3 ideal candidates for the job- Reshiram BW, Reshiram EX, and the newly introduced White Kyurem EX. With Reshiram, your goal is to simply attach Energy to keep on using Blue Flare. Reshiram EX enjoys the fast attachments, allowing it to use Brave Fire as early as turn 2. White Kyurem EX does the same thing as Reshiram, but does 150 damage rather than 120. Emboar decks suffer from inconsistency and bad typing, making them worse than you'd want in a tournament deck. Overall, Emboar gets a 6/10 for playability.
