Emerald Break Latios EX

I just saw the new Latios Ex card, and it has an attack you can use on your 1st turn, going 1st. I think this shakes things up a lot. With a muscle band, that's 60 damage before your opponent makes a move. What do you think about this card?

For the benefit of us all:

Latios-EX - Dragon - HP170
Basic Pokemon

[P] Fast Raid: 40 damage. This attack can be used on your first turn.
[W][P][P][C] Light Pulse: 110 damage. Prevent all effects of your opponent's attacks, except damage, done to this Pokemon during your opponent's next turn.

When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: Fairy (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

M Latios-EX - Dragon - HP220
Mega Evolution - Evolves from Latios-EX

When 1 of your Pokemon becomes a Mega Evolution, your turn ends.

[W][P][C] Sonic Ace: Discard 2 Energy attached to this Pokemon. Choose 1 of your opponent's Pokemon. This attack does 120 damage to that Pokemon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon.)

When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: Fairy (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 0

I have mixed feelings. I think it's a good card overall, but it might not be good for the game. Stage 2s already struggle enough with the toad out there, but now we have a card that can easily do 40 T1 (which can be boosted up to 90 with Muscle Band and Laser Bank). I mean, 40 for 1 is already pretty good on a basic, but when you add a potentially broken effect, it becomes OP. They could have easily had it do 20 or 30 with it still being a huge effect.

When the scans come out, if there is more dragon support, with something like altaria but a basic, or a dragon fighting stadium, this card will be too OP, winning a lot of it's games turn one.

OP is an overstatement. There is nothing that is screaming WOW FORMAT BREAKER RIGHT HERE about Latios EX.
Right now, for going first and being able to attack is very good...but it isn't as advantageous as Seismitoad per-say going first.
Yes, if you are going up against a Execute deck (just as an example), you can donk and KO 2 pokemon in 2 turns...but that's really it. This card won't build up enough pressure alone on your opponent to be forced to do drastic plays. In addition, after the 1st turn, Latios EX is useless and hes just as useless if you go 2nd. Latios EX also has the unfortunate Fairy weakness and his second attack is god awful with a horrible attack cost and no resistance.
He will though make it even harder for stage 1/2 decks to work well if this guy does actually become decent. With KOing on T1 to Bronzors, Swablus, or anything under 60 HP, with lysandre he can wipe out a whole deck's strategy. It sounds farfetched (haha) but could happen.

I don't like it. Although if it becomes a big problem, people will just always try to go first. I always choose to go second in a match because being able to attack first is a big advantage.

But Seismitoad can't go first...

Of course there are a billion other attacks that would be better to use on a first turn than the one LatiosEX (EB) has but there aren't any other first turn attacks out there. Right now LatiosEX has the best first turn attack, because it has the only first turn attack.

The point is this card, if it becomes part of a set, will force every deck to only have EX basic Pokemon for fear of the risk of being taken out so soon.

This card is a definite game changer in my opinion.

What I mean is that the attack has no side effects other then 'it can attack on the 1st turn.' If I'm going 2nd, I'd rather attack with Seismitoad EX rather then Latios EX for 10 more damage since the odds are that you will go 1st every other game.

I also thought of another issue to running him...which would be to get him active going 1st turn 1. Yes, in theory it seems very simple, but if your strategy doesn't rely solely on Latios EX (which I hope yours doesn't) then you will be in some trouble. Assuming you don't start with him, you'd need an ultra ball, energy, float stone/switch, and maybe a muscle band to pull any stunts off...and thats not including a T1 lysandre that would be crucial to the strategy!!! Thats extremely difficult to pull off IMHO. Unless you plan to build a Quad latios or some very heavy and techy build of Latios EX, then I find it improbable to realistically get a consistent T1 Latios EX.

Its just as likely as starting with Jirachi EX as a one of in decks or starting with the mewtwo EX in a seismitoad EX deck and it still happens.

I think M latios EX will be good in play when play against with the EX support deck like Celebi EX and Jirachi EX.
