For those of you who haven't had the experience of listening to the best band in existence ever (okay maybe par the Beatles), they are called Rise against and they have a new album out. I loved it and wanted to know how many other fans are on the beach. What did you think of the latest addition to the band's collection? Some of the messages are a bit deep, but I really liked the album.
The songs are catchy, lyrically thought provoking and all a great listen. The only criticisms I have (and they are very minor) are firstly that the album likes a bit of variety, perhaps an acoustic song would balance this. Secondly I think that some of the songs are trying to get a reaction out of the listener (make it stop september's children lists names of teenagers who committed suicide due to homophobia) and whilst I think the song is a fantastic tribute to these people and the tragedy that happened as a result of other's ignorance, songs should never try and get the listener to react in a certain way (I had the same problem with 'cancer' by My chemical romance. I think that other than the name listing the song was incredible, and of course many people may disagree with me and think the names were effective.
Well, I think the album deserves a 9/10 overall. It looses a point for not having enough variety in it, whereas appeal to reason and the suffere and the witness got the blanace just right.
If you haven't heard the album of any of Rise Against's stuff its all on itunes /spotify.
Your thoughts?
