Discussion Energy Disruption?

I've been playing on PTCGO the last couple of nights. I'm noticing less and less energy disruption decks. I'm thinking that Max Elixir and more Pokemon energy drivers are starting to balance the game a bit. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed it?

Yes I have noticed it too... Suddenly there are decks burning through quicker than my fire deck! It's good fun :)

Try a deck with item lock and energy disruptors and I bet you get a different outcome.

I have been playing Shaymin and Flareon EX with Charizard EX... I find if I can get my energy out quickly with the Charizard I can set up the Flareon and knock out the Toad before it can be set up to item lock me.

How so? Flareon needs 7 fire energy attached to 1HKO a Toad without FFB. Charizard nor Entei can't 1HKO Toad even with Muscle Bands. I love to play Charizard/Entei in Standard, especially because Toad it's not so popular, but it's a sure thing it gets wrecked by Toad/Garbodor. T1 Hex Maniac if you go second kills you too. Also, Toad/Slowking with Deliquent makes you just watch you to beat up. You can even knock out the first Toad, but it's almost impossible to recover mid-late game.

I managed a win yesterday on PTCG... Lost the coin toss so went second. Drew Charizard EX Flareon. Played a hammer to knock off his Toad's energy. Played an energy to the Char, played ultra ball for Shaymin and battle compressor to discard energy and blacksmith. Played Shaymin. Drew vs seeker which I played for blacksmith to attach energy to Flareon Ex on the Bench. Played another compressor to discard Lysandre and more energy. Attached muscle band to Flareon. Then played Charizard's Stoke attack to attach 3 energy to Char.

My opponent had his Toad on the Bench - I can't remember what card was in his active space at the start of his second round. He played Garbador to bench, played AZ to pick up his active an brought up his Toad and then attached a single energy.

My second round played a megaphone to remove all of his tools. I attached an energy from my bench to my Flareon. I moved an energy from my Char to my Flareon. Then I retreated the Char for 2 energies which I attached to my Flareon with a blacksmith.
My Flareon now had 6 energies and a muscle band which I think I had to reattach because it was knocked off. Hit the Toad for 190 and knocked it out. From there I was able to Lysandre/Hex/blacksmith and win.

As I said earlier, it's a fun deck to play... I had a go a Giran/Plume this am and lost by 2. I think with a bit a skilled refining (not mine :)) it could be more consistent

I was playing Entei until recently but have moved them out for the Flareon.
The only drawback is your opponent only needs to KO you 3 times because you are only playing EX cards. But if you set up quickly you can AZ cards that have damage on them.

I really do like the synergy between Char and and the Flareon :)

PS I think we have gone a bit off topic - sorry OP....
I am a bit new here and nervous to start a new past... Maybe someone could start one for us and we could continue discussing this with a view to improving the deck?

If your opponent played any energy besides DCE energy and if toad went first I have no idea why, that's just ridiculous to me, then he's a bad toad player. Only play DCE and only play it when you're going to attack. Toad/Slow King is a pain for most decks, but in the event you don't run into your DCE energy, it's going to make for a long day.

I recommend testing it against Treventant Break decks. Instant item lock T1 or T2 depending on flip really hurts. Of course there's always the Lysandre move if they have a bench, but any smart Trevenant player should know with item lock the opponents chances of OHKO T2 or T3 are slim to none.

I have not been playing for very long and I don't know whether my competitors are good at playing their decks... But I have beaten Treventant Break a few times and last night came pretty close on a Yveltal/Zoroark Deck too. It came done to the 1 prize...
All I am saying is I have played the Entei deck since Entei Ancient Traits came out and have found in one week this Flareon Ex change to be running well. Flareon only needs 3 energies and MB to hit 130. Any additional energies added increase its attack.
Also, if Z Break tries to steal it's attack it struggles because the attacks strength is dependant on fire energies being attached. The same with new M Charizard which is also in my deck and who I have managed to get out and use a few time to win despite not having a spirit link.

Edit - I just played a Trev/Wobuffet deck. He had the player advantage and I won in 3 turns.
Item and ability locks are not a problem if you run supporters. Lysandre and Hex help and disrupt the play for your opponent.
