Any suggestions before I turn this in?
I need to write a short fiction story about somone who makes an important desiscion.
March 22
The girl turned around to look at me. I did not who she was, and neither did I. I looked at her, and stared hard. I remembered her. I knew who she was…I just…can’t remember. She smiled and turned away. I looked away for a second. I don’t know why I looked away, I was still trying to figure out who the girl was. In a flash, suddenly, everything was gone. Everything I knew, or I least I thought I knew, was gone.
That is the dream I have every night. I don’t know why, I just do. They told me that I needed to record what was happening in my life from now on, maybe so it will help me remember. But, I’m not sure that I have anything TO write down. I have only been here for a week. Before I was here, I don’t remember anything. My name, age, family…
But, it’s not like anyone has come looking for me, anyways. No one here ever has been looked for. It’s as if…as I we don’t exist.
March 25
In my earlier writing, I forgot to mention my name. Since I don’t remember it, I have been given one. They call me Jade, because of how my long hair shines a dark green in the light. By “they”, I mean the others who are like me. They are the ones who found me in the middle of a highway, just lying on the ground, unconscious. They all have similar cases. All of them have some kind of “mutant power”, and can’t remember a thing beyond the day they were found by someone.
I’m not sure if I can trust anyone here. I’m pretty sure I don’t have a mutant power. The issue is, they do. It’s real. They can read minds, fly, all that super-hero stuff, except, it’s not fiction. It’s real.
I can’t tell if this place is a dream or not. They tell me that I will get used to it, that one day my power will show.
I have no friends here, no memory, nothing. All I do is try to “find” a power in me that doesn’t exist, and write in this stupid journal. By the way, this stupid thing isn’t helping me at all with my memory. If anything, I remember less.
March 29
Someone actually bothered to talk to me today. The only time they talk to me is to explain things, but this was different. A girl walked up to me. She has black hair, and looks as if she’s Asian. Her hair was messy and full of knots. Her bright green eyes frightened me at first, but then, she told me her name. She said her name was “Neko”. Apparently, that means “cat” in Japanese.
She sat beside me as I waited or the day to end, and started to talk to me. She told me about how she was found in the basement of a business building in Japan. It was strange, she had no accent, but showed me that she could speak fluently in Japanese. That must require a lot of skill, I guess.
I’m not too sure that we can be considered “friends”, but, at least she seems different from the others.
April 2
After Neko started talking to me, others started to warm up. The issue is, I didn’t want them to warm up. I wanted them to leave me alone. I would prove that I had no powers and show them.
That didn’t stop Todd, who blocked my usual trail to my room. He said that my hair was pretty. I definitely was not in the mood to be hit on(when am I ever?!). He tried to touch my face, and in my head, I kept telling myself “Stop, stop, stop!” I closed my eyes, then opened them again. Todd’s voice started to deepen, and…it was almost as if…as if, he was talking slower.
As he continued talking, it seemed as I he was literally talking in slow motion. I turned and walked away, hoping that he was just joking around.
The next day, he stopped me in the hall again and asked me how I moved so fast. I asked him what he was talking about, but he just shook his head and turned away.
I’m not sure what’s going on…
April 3
I figured out why Neko was named “cat”. She literally, seems to have cat-like reflexes. She constantly visits the gymnasium, where there are a bunch of high bars that, if you fell, you could easily break your neck on those things.
Neko invited me to watch her. As she entered the room, girls hushed their gossip and stood quietly and watched. I turned to see that Neko was already on the bar, I didn’t even hear her jump and start swinging. She swung straight off the bar, but missed catching the next one. I almost screamed in terror, as she started falling, 60 feet from the ground. There was a problem with this catastrophe though, Neko didn’t seemed worried. In fact, she was falling…gracefully.
She landed on the ground without a sound, and looked at me and smiled. The girls continued to their conversation, as if nothing had happened.
I asked Neko how she could possibly do that. She told me that that was the reason she was called Neko. She was found in Japan, and always landed on her feet.
Also, for some reason, I know the girl’s name now. Her name is Alexa.
April 4
They told me that they were going to take some tests on me. They said that if I couldn’t find my power, they could help me. I’m not sure whether to be upset that I probably don’t have a power, or by the fact that they have to test me to find it.
April 6
They finally let me write in this again. The tests were long, and hard to endure. I found my power out by this one test the made me do.
Before I started, they told me that I was going to go in a room, and everything that I would see would be very convincing. If I got lost, they would pull me back.
I wasn’t too sure how I was going to be “convinced” about something, but I found out as I entered the room.
It wasn’t really a room. It was as if I walked outside. I was in a big meadow. The grass was a beautiful green, and it was as if I was dreaming. I couldn’t tell myself that the things around me weren’t real.
I explored the area. As I walked down the meadow, I noticed a river. I follow the river up until the point where I saw this huge waterfall. I thought about swimming, but then saw a figure on top of the huge cliff. It was hard to see, but I was pretty sure that the figure was a small boy. I waved to maybe catch his attention, but he couldn’t see me. He walked closer to the edge, and jumped. I don’t know how I did it. Suddenly, I was running into the water, hurrying to help and catch him. I had to save him. I guess I didn’t notice the act that the water totally froze, or the fact that the boy seemed to freeze in the air. I stopped and looked up, the boy landed in my arms. I smiled and cried.
Then, it all started to fade away. The waterfall vanished, and the boy disappeared. I was in a blank, white room. I realized that that was all fake. I don’t know what the doctors say my power is...but, I guess I will learn tomorrow.
April 7
I have super speed. I just couldn’t tell, because to me, it looks like they slowed down, because I think faster, and move faster, than all of them. So, super speed. Cool enough. It’s better than nothing.
They assigned me this therapist. His name is Gary. I’m not too sure how I’m going to take therapy, but, apparently everybody gets it here to try and remember.
Neko asked me if I remembered anything. I told about how I dream about this girl, and how I remembered her name was Alexa. She nodded and told me that when she was found, she was only seven, so there really wasn’t much for her too remember anyways. In some ways I thought she was lucky, but, in others, her life was sad.
April 8
Gary asked me if I have ever felt extreme pressure. I asked him what kind. He told me that sometimes when people get nervous, they do things differently than usual. I said that from how long I have been here, I have only been under pressure twice.
Neko says that she wants to go to Japan. When I asked her why, she only told me that her heritage is important to her. I’m not too sure how it’s important if you don’t know what it is.
April 10
Gary asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I told him I couldn’t remember. He told me, and I quote “You don’t have to remember the past to want from the future.”
I think therapy might not be that bad.
April 15
The reason I haven’t updated in a while is because Neko has gone missing. She didn’t tell me where she would go, and now she’s gone. I don’t know why she left. I don’t know why she left me.
I don’t know whether I should stay or whether I should go.
April 18
I had a different dream last night.
I was watching Neko and the girl walk together. We were walking on a highway, except it was empty. They were walking side by side, while I was a few feet behind them. As we walked over one of those bridges, Neko and the girl leaned over to look below. The both lost balance. I caught Neko’s hand, and the girl caught Neko’s foot. I wasn’t sure how long I could hold them both. Neko looked up and smiled at me. She let go.
I’ve decided to go after to look for Neko. I know it will be dangerous, and I may never find her, but what do I have to lose. I’ve lost my life beyond 27 days ago.
I remember who the girl is now. She’s my little sister. Maybe I can find her too.
