Entering TCG Events

Hello readers,

I have some question related to the following subject:

Entering TCG events

I saw on the internet that there are some TCG events in store's, meeting places and large centers.
It seems to be quite fun to meet other people's that are collecting/playing with pokemon cards.

The problem is that I am not experienced with those places. I just dont know what to expect from such an event.

It sounds fun, But what could I expect?

Consider first joining/attending a Pokemon League (generally held at gaming stores) where you can just observe the players and games "atmosphere." Start to participate when you are ready/comfortable - maybe find opponent(s) suitable with your game experience "comfort" level. This would be an "easy" way to get acquainted with your local Pokemon community. Fortunately, you've also found the PokeBeach website where you can also find lots of information (e.g., deck examples, game strategy, etc.), as well as, get advice/help with your particular decks. As your "comfort" level increases, consider playing online and compete at local tournaments to gain more experience and to have more fun.

I've been playing a long time and have found most players in the Pokemon community to be friendly, considerate and helpful. Although we are all "gamers" to some degree, most players are also passionate about the game, but not to such an extreme point where the game intensity hinders one from having fun - in most cases.

Your expectations will hopefully find yourself in a fun-filled, competitive gaming environment. Enjoy.

Ahh, I see.

The things I have done:

# I made my own deck on Pokemon tcg online , tested the deck multiple times until It became balanced and compatible with my gamestyle.
(Took a couple of months, )

#I found out that there is a gamestore holding an TCG/VG League very close.

So actually the last thing I need to do is exploring pokemon league's and know how they handle things.

Thanks for the information, makes me more secure about how things will work out.:)

Pokemon Leagues are a lot of fun; I even run one. Players can play games against each other, trade cards / Pokemon, discuss strategies and improve their decks / teams all the while being able to earn rewards for coming. Normally you just go to the league leader and tell them you would like to sign up. If you do not have a player id yet, they will assign you one to take to events. They will usually go over some of the basics on how they run league.

Result of my first league.

First deck ''Plan A'' failed as expected.

Problems:
- Hadn't the proper trainer cards.
- Gamestyle not compatible against players. (''Foolish me >_<'')
- First time with leagues.

What I have learned
+ A better image about how League's work, and a better vieuw of how players think.

What now?:

# I will continue at 9 januari with another league. (Cause of holidays)
# I have ordened a new set of trainer cards and I bought a few booster packs.
# I am Going to craft a new deck ''Plan B''.
# Many Thinking work about players

Any sort of advice Is welcome,
#Remember that deck ''Plan A'' Is dropped.

Also, at the league(s) where you plan to attend, look for some player(s) whom you feel comfortable with and start to discuss additional ideas about decks, cards, game strategy, etc. Even if you start to play online (e.g., tcgone.net), you will find other playyers outside of your immediate area and many of these players area are also quite helpful.

Thanks for the advice,

Also I will make a new threat for the deck part. (maybe some advice wil strengthen my new deck''Plan B'')

If your expectations are to meet people you would be friends with outside of Pokemon, I would curtail them. You will more than likely find characters that differ from you in many ways, and it may be hard for Pokemon to bridge the immense gap between the two of you. You will be able to play actual card games though, which is fun in itself, regardless of who your opponent is. There is certainly a chance you meet people who are friendly and engaging, but don't get your hopes too high (this comes from my own experience).

I suggest going to a league first before jumping into a tournament.
Leagues are there so you can learn if you jump into an event with no experience you aren't going to have much fun.
