Here's the scenario: Your opponent promotes a jirachi and uses the attack stardust and you have a double colorless attached to your active, however you have an Espeon on your bench. Do you have discard the special energy and thus give your opponents jirachi invincibility for the turn?

Discarding a Special Energy is an effect other than damage, so Espeon's Solar Revelation would block it. If your Active Pokemon was attacked by Jirachi's Stardust, it would take the 10 damage (unless it was reduced by something else), but your opponent would not get to discard any Special Energy thanks to Espeon's Ability. The text "if you do" means anything that comes after it only happens if you fulfill the condition before it. Since your opponent couldn't discard any Special Energy, Jirachi is not invincible on your turn.
