Strategy:

Camerupt EX, is said to be the 2nd useless EX in Primal Clash, just in front of Sharpedo EX. I haven't seen anyone try to build a deck around Camerupt EX, it's always Gardevoir this, and Gardevoir that. Camerupt has the advantage of few very useful supporters, that benefit fire.

The ideal situation is to get Victini out and with a fire energy attached to start with. Turbo Energize is important to power up a 4+ energy attack quickly. So try to attach as many energies to Camerupt, Victini, the 2 Reshirams, and deal on average 100-150 with Camerupt's Explosive Jet, discard 2 or 3 enegies, and use a Blacksmith to get it back quickly (of course i can discard more, and deal more damage if the situation calls for it.) If Victini is not in early, or is prize, Fiery Torches, and Scorched Earth gets energies in the discard pile, so i can use Blacksmith to achieve, what is basically the same effect. Sycamore gets me out of bad hands, Pal Pads, and VS Seeker gets blacksmiths back into play (I would use more VS Seekers, but i have only 1 VS Seeker in my entire collection). Lysandre's Trump Card is a last resort to get important supporters back into play. I use to Reshirams because they also benefit from Blacksmith.

I've built this deck online, and those Reshirams, have saved me, and won the game a couple times, and it's always good to have non-EX Pokemon in a deck, to counter any pokemon that has an ability that can negate all EX damage. I've been able to to knock out a M Charizard EX in one shot by discarding 5 energies from Camerupt, dealing 250, and still have enough energies attched to knock out additional EX (about 180 HP), before needing to use any Blacksmith.

It's still a work in progress, it's far from perfect, but i think it has something going for it. I think i could possibly win a local tournament, if i play my cards right. Pun totally intended. So, what do you guys think?

RE: Everyone Is Making Gardevoir Decks, and I'm Just Sitting Here, Making a Camerupt Deck

I've only got one Camerupt EX in my ptcgo collection at the moment, but I think I'll add one or two more since I already play Emboar and Typhlosion decks. Plus I think it'll be fun with some of the new team magma cards. Right now I've got him in a deck with omega-barrier Magcargo, Charizard EX - since I'm already running lots of blacksmith - and Keldeo EX for switching attackers/abusing combustion blast.

I'd like to try him out with some alpha-growth bench sitters, since the energies you discard don't need to be attached to Camerupt.

I think Reshiram's a good fit, and I'll have to give Victini EX a shot. I really think team magma camerupt is what will make this deck, though.

Yes, another Camerupt would help alot. I would even try to get another Victini. VS Seekers are important. If I could use more than 4 i would

You need better draw.

-1 Focus Sash - Focus Sash is not going to help you at all because it only works on Fighting Pokemon.
-1 Trick Shovel - Having just one of this card is not going to do anything.
-1 AZ - You only have one Camerupt, so I don't know how often you'd actually want to pick up your main, sometimes only attacker, off the field.
-1 Tierno
-1 Trevor
-2 Fire Energy

+4 N
+3 VS Seeker

I take it you're accepting an auto-loss to Pyroar? Might even be worth adding in something like Beartic FFI, or even adding Lysandre to get other pokemon active in place of the eventual Pyroar (but if your opponent realises this quickly, they'll only fill their bench with Pyroars)

Maybe something like:

- 4 Fire Energy (with Blacksmith, you won't need THAT much energy I would think)
- 2 Pokemon Centre Lady (from personal experience, you definitely don't need more than two in conjunction with VS Seeker/Pal Pad)
+ 2-2 Beartic FFI (stops you losing to ol' Simba)
+ 2 Lysandre (fantastic card for messing around your opponent's bench)

Pyroar will be pretty irrelevant once Primal Clash comes out because, as the OP said: "Everyone Is Making Gardevoir Decks". I do agree the Fire Energy needs to be cut down to 12-14, because any more will just start cluttering your hand with energy. Your Pokemon have the exact opposite problem. Right now, with 4 Basic Pokemon, you're looking at getting mulligans 60% of the time. I'd add maybe 2 more CameruptEX since it's the main attacker.

Okay so, i've taken a lot of this into account, and I think I have a much better idea, on what to do (on a side note, that focus sash was supposed to be focus band)

1. More Camerupts. This is a deck based around Camerupt, so i should have more. I traded for 1, at league today, and I'm probably gonna get a couple more off Troll and Toad, if i don't get lucky, and pull them.

2. More basics, and non-EXs. I realized how important Emboar is to a fire deck, and getting a Emboar line would be a best interest for me. Just because Reshiram is my favorite legendary, i think i'll add one more (Mainly because it's a gold card, so BLING).I might add M Kangaskan, just to combat Pyroar, but it's not likely.

3. Better trainers and supporters. Trust me. i know how vital VS Seekers are. Phantom Forces hates me, and has only given me 1, out of the 50+ PHF packs i've opened. I'll get rid of the potions, 2 Pokemon center ladies, and add Energy Retrievals to complement Emboar.

Here's my revised deck list.

Pokemon (14)

4 Camerupt EX
1 Victini EX
3 Reshiram
3 Tepig
2 Pignite
1 Emboar

Trianers (32)

4 Blacksmith
4 Energy Retrieval
4 VS Seeker
2 Pal Pad
2 Scorched Earth
2 Professor Sycamore
3 Professor Birch's Observations
2 Switch
2 Lysandre
2 Pokemon Center Lady
2 Ultra Ball
1 Lysandre's Trump Card
1 Trevor
1 Pokemon Fan Club

Energy (14)

14 Fire Energy

I'm trying to make a deck using Camerupt EX as well ( love the Pokémon :) ) and I'm using Victini EX, Charizard EX (Stoke) and M. Manectric EX to get a lot of energy flow. If you throw head with Charizard EX and can retreat you can burn a lot of energy with Camerupt EX.

I thought about something like this, and I really think Camerupt can work well.
Is there maybe a possible Growth mule (stage 1) that can let you attach two energies per turn? Because if so, that plus Energy Switch and Blacksmith should let you hit for 200+ somewhat consistently. More so than Emboar I'd think. Can't wait to see if this thing becomes a thing.

In the Team Aqua V.S. Team Magma mini-set, yes there is: Magma's Camerupt. He can attach a fighting or fire from your discard to himself.
