Ruling EVolution

This question maybe is a kind of Noob, but i play for 7 years or more, but i went to compendium Ex, and i didn't understand a rule.
A friend of mine said that we can evolve in the first turn, or when we put a pokemon to the bench from our hand, is this true? can we evolve at the first turn or when we put it from our hand?

You can't do normal evolutions on the first turn a card comes into play.

If you have a card that specifically tells you to evolve a Pokemon, such as Rare Candy, you may use that and evolve a Pokemon on the first turn.

There are also a couple cards from Secret Wonders with items that allow you to evolve that specific Pokemon normally on the turn you play it.

i always did that way..but i was playing with my friend, and he said i was wrong..and i went to read a rule that was a lil bit confusing! but now im without any doubts
