What's up guys, this is my rookie season playing Pokemon and here are all of the tournament reports that I did well in!
Hey guys whats goin' on. Today I went to the O'fallon MO City Championships (right outside STL). Today I was running the same deck as I have been throughout city championships, Tornadus EX/ Landours EX/ Mewtwo/ Bouffalant. I didn't fare so well last week so most of the week was spent testing a Ho-oh build . I ended up deciding to switch back simply because Ho-oh has to much of a wide variety of options with it so I didnt feel comfortable going into cities with a deck I hadn't full tested. If any of you live withing resonable range of STL I would highly reccomend going to a tournament there. The community is just fantastic. All the players are really nice and its just a good time getting to talk to everybody in general. Needless to say before going into the tournament I needed to reevaluate my strategy and list because last weekend I had went 2-3 last weekend. In testing I usually do fairly well with one of my friends, but he always does better than me in tournaments. What it came down to was that in a tournament setting, I become a complete nervous wreck because of how badly I want to do well. I don't think my plays all the way through and end up making stupid misplays because of simple math errors. With that being said, I went into this tournament indifferent on how well I did and just kept in mind that slow is smooth and smooth is good. I did tweak my decklist a bit and beefed up the supporter lines and swapped one of my bouffalants for a terrakion NVI. Anyways onto the rounds!
Round 1 VS. ??? with Darkrai/ Hydreigon
I don't remember a ton from this matchup except for a few key points. I knew that Landorus is supposed to be very good while in theory against darkrai, his energy cost is much to high and his splashability is low. I start denying his deinos with my tornadus and he finally gets a Darkrai going. He Dragonblasts against my Tornadus for the KO which I am more than okay with and then I KO a darkrai with land crush. The next turn he made a major misplay that cost him the game. My terrakion was active with 3 energy and my tornadus was on the bench with one. Instead of knocking out the terrakion threat with Hydreigon, he deciedes to catcher landorus and night spear him, needless to say I have the switch to win the game. ( I don't know if KOing a terrakion would have helped though. I had like a 10 card hand and he neglected to N me down to one. I had the super rod, energy switch, catcher, skyla and computer search in hand, which should have made me able to hit that retaliate again even with the KO. GG

Round 2 VS. ??? with Sigilyph, Mewtwo, Meloetta.
I faced this guy last weekend and he is an awesome guy, fun to play against all around. He smashed me last weekend though. His sigilyph wall was to much. However, yet again the big bull pulls through. I N'd aways his mewtwo and Land Crushed my way to 2-0.

Round 3 VS. Zack K. With Keldeo/Blastoise
This guy is very, very good. His list is also amazing. I couldn't deny the squirtles and with my list in this matchup, if I can't stop the blastoise I lose.

Round 4 VS. Sam with Darkrai/Terrakion/Shaymin
This is one of my better matchups however this guy is a frequent worlds competitor and was very good. He ended up winning the entire tournament. He gets a Darkrai going pretty quick and I though I was screwed because I missed a few energy attatchments and my bull was prized. The game comes down to 3-1 with him in the lead. I have a Landorus active with 1 energy and a Tornadus on the bench with eviolite and aspertia with 60 on it. I am working on hammerheading his sableye/darkrai to take 3 prizes in one turn. He benches a shaymin and attaches a grass. I can get the knockout on darkrai but not the sableye by catcher, but I decided not to as that would give him the catcher wins with the shaymin so I simply hammerhead leaving sableye with 10 hp and less than 30 on darkrai. He was not pleased I noticed this but he retreated to shaymin and catchered tornadus and hit it for 120. For some reason I play a pluspower not really thinking about KOing Shaymin and power blast. He proceeds to put shaymin in the discard and I was wondering what he was doing but then I realized I played the pluspower. Misplay in my favor. He can't return the attack and I hammerhead for the knockout on sableye. GG.

Round 4 VS. Mitchell with Rayeels
When I saw I was playing Mitchell I was a bit nervous. He killed me in BRs in the fall and he is a very good player I have alot of respect for. We start off and I go aggro landorus. He starts Raikou and a benched Tynamo and I catcher knockout the tynamo. He level balls for another Tynamo, but there all prized. Lucky for me. I end up discarding on a lands judgement for a KO on a rayquaza EX and the prize race is very close. I need two prizes and I think he only needs one or two himself. I was slowly hammerheading his Raikou and I get it up to 90 in two turns. He hits a juniper and has a massive hand. I know im in for it next turn if I dont do something. I had a pluspower and N so I played the pluspower knowing that even if I don't draw into catcher to KO raikou with hammerhead, I won't need pluspower later. I N'd and on my second card I draw catcher for the game which I think was rather unexpected. Either was it was a great game.

I was so relieved I hit that 4-1 mark because there was only a top 4 and my last 2 opponents were both very good players. I come in second in swiss because zack got a tardy so Im facing him again in 3rd. At this point im so excited about just making cut, im not really concerned with winning.
Top 4 Vs. Zack K with Keldeo/Blastoise
There really isn't much to say about these games. Unless I can deny the blastoise, Im in for a tough match. I have mewtwo, but he runs mewtwo with DCE. He smashed me both games, but I wasn't to upset. I finally hit a top cut which was what my goal was.
Overall it was an awesome day. I finally managed to top cut and perform how I wanted to perform. Im also finally on the board with 30 cp! I got 4 packs for prizes and started the hour drive home.

Hey guys i'm back with another t4 tournament report. This time I decided to run Keldeo/Blastoise and managed to borrow 2 Tropical Beach for it. There were 14 masters with a top cut of 2, top 4 got CP. Anyways on to the games
Round 1 VS Sigilyph/Mewtwo
I was worried when we opened and he had 2 Sigi out. This was my worst matchup because I didn't run Keldeo 47. I did however decide to run 4 Blastoise to improve consistency and to better my odds against sigilyph. I don't remember to much about this game except for that I KO'd Sigilyphs with my Blastoise and had some crucial topdecks.
I don't remember the prize count but I ended up taking the game by Mewtwoing his Mewtwos. GG

He starts Darkrai and Landorus to my Keldeo and Squirtle. He gets a T2 Goldbreaker on my Keldeo so I retreat to Mewtwo and let him KO Mewtwo while I set up Blastoise. I ended up streaming 8 water onto a Keldeo EX and taking 2 of his Darkrai and then an easy final prize on Landorus EX. GG

I knew if I won this game I would Top Cut but it came down to him streaming energy easier than I could. I couldn't really do anything because he KO'd both my Mewtwos and had a 6 energy Keldeo. GG

He goes aggro Mewtwo Bouffalant and I take care of the Bouffalant first knowing that it can be a problem if it gets set up. It comes down to a Mewtwo war and I end up winning by manually retreating Mewtwo, beaching, hitting comp search and skyla and grabbing to energy retrieval for game. GG

I ended up missing Top Cut but I did get 3rd place. 4 more packs and 30 more points. Of course I didn't pull anything out of said packs but I did trade a Terrakion EX FA and a Celebi EX FA for another FA Skyla! My buddy I playtest with also took first place using the Darkrai Hydreigon I helped him build right before the tournament. Sorry the report wasn't longer, there were only 4 rounds and I don't remember everything from all the games. I have another City Championship tomorrow though so hopefully i'll be back with another T4 report tomorrow!

I go into Sedalia deciding to play HydroPony again since I did fairly well with it yesterday. We ended up getting 34 masters which is just enough for a top 8. I was excited because there were some pretty good players there and a top 4 would have been pushing it. Anyways onto the matches
Round 1 VS. Mitchell with Mewtwo Eels
For some reason me and him face each other in every single tournament. For some reason the last two games we played, we both knew that the winner would cut and the loser would not. I won the last 2 games but I knew I was in for a tough round 1. Our games always come down to who can draw that last card. We open and I see he was playing Mewtwo eels. I start and manage to get out 2 Squirtles and he begins to set up Mewtwo. I'm drawing nothing at all so I get out another Squirtle and continue to draw into absolutely nothing. He KO's 3 Squirtles and my deck doesn't have room for rod. I know i'm screwed and a few turns later he benches me out after I haven't taken a prize. This wasn't even a game, but these things do happen once in a while. At least I knew he would give me some decent resistance so I was okay with that. GG

Round 2 VS Rob with Hammertime
This is one of my friends that I drove to Sedalia with and I knew I should win this game. I had so much trouble getting Blastoise out this game as well. It wasn't till probably T6 or 7 I finally got it out. I helped Rob build his list on the way up and it was actually a really good list. I think I confused him though when I was trying to explain to him the ins and outs of when the right time to junk hunt in the middle of a game was. That and he used a Dark Claw'd Confuse Ray at one point when he could have Night Spear'd if he wanted to so I was able to come back fairly easily. It was frustrating but I managed to pull out the win. GG

Basically this game I hit Stoise T2 and went at his Eels until I built a 7 energy Keldeo and going at his Rayquaza. He came back with a Dragon Burst for 180 KO'ing my giant Keldeo but I brought up another Keldeo and 2 Energy Retrievals and a Cilan did the trick. GG

I knew out of all the people playing Rayeels, she probably had the best list but what it came down to was me getting set up first. Quick Blastoise and I had the game. GG

I didn't think it was likely that both my prizes were energy so I Juniper and the water was the LAST card in my deck. GG man
