Strategy:

My son Has been casually playing pokemon for about a year now since the first XY set came out and as of late he has been wanting to play more seriously and doing well at our local pokemon League. I myself used to play back in the wizards of the coast days so I have helped him a little bit but need some more expert advice and suggestions on how to make this deck more streamlined and competitive. Thanks in advance! :)

RE: Fairy Deck (Xerneas EX / M Diancie / Aromatisse)

Hi wkdwayz,

I assume that you want modifications that mainly use cards from XY-on, Here are some suggestions:

Pokémon:

- 1 M Diancie EX (not that great in competitive play)
- 1 Diancie EX (not that great in competitive play)
- 2 Xerneas EX (two of them will suffice)
- 1 Carbink (not that great in competitive play)

+ 2 M Gardevoir EX (great fairy-type attacker with ohko potential)
+ 1 Gardevoir EX (needed to mega evolve)
+ 2 Florges EX (great early low-cost fairy attacker)

Florges Ex at least used to be rather inexpensive, which leaves M Gardevoir EX as an expensive card for the deck but it seems to be worth it.The proposed modifications would leave you with 16 Pokémon in total.

Trainers:

I would suggest to run the following trainer line:

4 Professor Sycamore (best draw supporter in format)
4 Shauna (second best assuming you do not have access to four N)
3 Pokémon Fan Club (great with Xerneas non-Ex and Florges EX)
2 Professor Birch's Observation (nice shuffle draw card assuming you do not have access to two Colress)
2 Lysandre (nice control card and also helps you to handle Garbodor)
1 AZ (nice healing card that allows you to return Pokémon without needing to discard energies due to Aromatisse)
1 Startling Megaphone (discard opposing tools and handle e.g. Garbodor)
2 Gardevoir Spirit Link (mega evolve without ending your turn)
3 Ultra Ball (searches your evolutions and may also search for missing basics; most versatile search card)
3 Max Potion (might be harder to get but it is the back-bone of Fairy decks)
3 Vs Seeker (reuse supporters from the discard; better than Pal Pad)
3 Fairy Garden (free retreat helps)

The proposed trainer line leaves you with 31 trainer cards. You can use the last trainer slot for Scoop Up Cyclone or Dowsing Maschine if you want to invest into an Ace Spec card from the Black and White sets that are legal in the current format. The other option would be to include either a fourth stadium card or Lysandre's Trump Card to reshuffle your discard back into your deck.

Energy:

The modifications outline above leave us with twelve slots for energy cards. I would use them for twelve basic Fairy Energies in a mono fairy deck. The deck suggested above should do fairly well competitively although it has an autoloss to mono-metal decks because they hitit for weakness.

If you or your son want to try the suggested list out before investing into some of the cards that you did not list simply built the deck on http://www2.bebessearch.com/pokedex/Login.aspx. You can use it in Playtcg.com/ online matches to see whether or not you like the deck.

If you are willing to also invest into trainers from the BW area that are currently legal in tournament play I would suggest to use N instead of Shauna and Colress instead of Professor Birch's Observation. You can see card scans for all cards suggested on Pokébeach and the two online match programs listed above. Hope this provides some initial assistance.

Thanks for all the info, will definitely be looking into the cards you suggested!!! Really appreciate it! :)

I built a similar deck, and posted it on Pokebeach as well.

Comment all you want, and take suggestions from there, since it is almost the same deck!
