Hello everyone, long time lurker first time poster. Recently starting collecting and playing again and started to construct a deck mostly from Pokemon I like to start off with and then refining it through single cards I purchased to get myself going. I haven't attended any Pokemon leagues yet though there is one close to me to be able to test it out at that I'm going to visit next Saturday

Pokémon: 17
  • 4 Xerneas XY96
  • 1 Xerneas EX XY97
  • 1 Hoopa EX Promo (ancient origins I think? Scoundrel ring)
  • 1 Shaymin EX ROS77
  • 3 Mewtwo EX (Photon Wave) BTH61
  • 3 M-Mewtwo EX Y BTH64
  • 2 Spritzee XY92
  • 2 Aromatisse XY93
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 30
  • 4 Ultra ball
  • 4 Max Potion
  • 3 Mewtwo Spirit Link
  • 3 Trainers Mail
  • 3 VS Seeker
  • 1 Level Ball (debating having 2?)
  • 1 Lysandre
  • 4 Professor Sycamore
  • 1 AZ
  • 2 Shauna
  • 4 Fairy Garden
Energy: 13
  • 3 Double Colorless Energy
  • 10 Fairy Energy
Strategy:

My goal with this deck is to try and start off with Xerneas then search for Hoopa or Mewtwo's to get then charged up with geomancy, I swap energy around using Aromatisse which I've also been using with max potions.

Cards I'm debating are 1 more Lysandre and 1 more level ball but I'm thinking of hex maniac as well for some of those ability locks? I'm not sure I've only really been playing since December. Any advice on how to better my deck or any swaps I should do would be very helpful I only get to play this at home with my partner. Will I get wrecked at a league? or is my deck slightly playable it's my first go at building my own deck.

Thankyou for taking the time to read and respond to my post :)

I think this is a very solid first list so congrats on that. I would start on taking out the Xerneas-EX for a Swith in case some how you can't find the Fairy Garden or it is some sort of Giratina-EX match-up.

Thanks very much :) I spent a lot of time working out what would support Mewtwo Y the best with some of the cards I had available (from the Xerneas arena deck) and came up with the fairy engine. Xerneas EX was put in with the intention of dealing with Giratina matchup, but I suppose standard Xerneas can deal with him just as well.

From doing some testing with a similar deck on the online client I'm having some issues with night march (as expected tbh it hits me for weakness and is a top tier deck from what I've seen on these forums?) and Regice, is there anything I could put in to help me deal with this matchup? I suppose lysandre it in asap and get it killed off is my best bet but it's always a slow way around it. Hex maniac doesn't help me with that as it's not an ability linked to the pokemon but to it's attack right?

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post I really appreciate it! Any other advice would be fantastic if anyone else has any input on my deck :).

Maybe you can run Aegislash-EX as a wall for stalling. With a muscle band it one hit knock outs Pumpkaboo and Joltic. You also 3HKO Giratina withour it touching you so Aegislash-EX could be a good 1 card tech.

This Jirachi is very splashable if you can track one down. Might be the answer to any special energy decks you are worried about.

I think I would consider adding a pair of level balls to this list, in order to ensure you hit that Aromatisse line as early as you can. Perhaps in place of some energy which you have in abundance. I know that is the more the merrier for Mewtwo's attacks, but since the plan is to have Xerneas searching it out anyway, it might be the place where there is the most leeway.
