How can you tell if a pokemon booster pack or a card is a fake? do all stores have the real deal? like does target have real cards?

How to tell them apart from Real to Fakes:
Fakes:
They look more shiny & have a plastic feel to them.
Boosters look like they've been glued & the picture on it is out of focus.
Places that you get them from: Chinaese (not trying to be a raceist or anything) shops, $2 shops.
Real:
You can easily tell....they feel like cardboard.
Boosters look like they haven't been glued & the picture on it is in focus.
Places that you get them from: Wal-Mart, Target, Woolies, Sydney Games Center (Sydney only shop), EB games.

You can tell if a Booster Pack is fake...well.....

- If the Booster Pack looks blurred, the writing and/or picture is blurry
- If it feels like really, really crappy plastic
- They are usually shinier

wat are ex's? ALSO...why are reverse holos more valuable than normal holos? becuase i was checking prices on a card site and the holo lucario i have is like $19.99 and the reverse holo form of lucario is $21.99...its like $2 more.

Reverse holos are really not more valuable than normal holos and the prices that you saw are really exaggerated.

An ex card is a card which has ex after its name (eg mew ex). It has a special border which is silver holofoil instead of normal yellow.
A fake booster is normally very easy to open. Look for suspicious glue marks. I am guessing some reverse holos are more rare than usual holo.
To test a card you can hold it up to a light bulb. Most fakes are thin. The text should be clear. Also check it has the right number in the bottom right corner and the correct symbol for the set (if unsure check it with the scans on this site). Also check it has the right rarity (circle/diamond/star).

are you new to pokemon? you really don’t have to worry about fake cards that much any more . that was more of a serious thing back when pokemon first came out and everyone wanted to get there hands on as much pokemon merchandise as possible. as long as you dont buy them of the street or in a flea market , you really don’t have to worry about them being fake. but just in case you still want make sure there real just try out what beatiful-swablu says, because real cards aren’t really transparent trough light. but if that still doesn’t convince you could also try taking your index finger and your thumb, put one on top, the other on the bottom of the card then press them until both ends meet. if its real you wont notice bend marks across the middle , if it is fake , the card will be completely damaged. do it carefully though .
