Fakemon Pokedex Competition!

Hi guys, I'm planning on organising one mother of a competition, but I need to know the general interest of the public before I start it.

The goal is simple enough. Using our collection of artists, we will hold a fakemon competition every month (public votes), and slowly but surely invent a complete fakedex consisting of a 100-something Pokemon (where the winning entry for that month obviously gets added to the fakedex). It will also be the artists responsibility to come up with a name and pokedex entry for their submission (stats and movepools can be ignored, this isn't like Smogon's CAP).

In each competition, I will only give you a few restrictions: the Pokemon must be of a certain type, of a certain build (like bulky, or fast looking, etc), and how many Pokemon are in the evolution chain (all of which the artist must draw). It's pretty straight forward and I won't give you a bible of rules to remember or anything, so don't worry.

I'm also pretty flexible with who enters this. Anyone can join, you don't have to sign up. There can also be any number of participants. All you do is read the restrictions and come up with an awesome Fakemon. I must stress though that your final submissions must be clearly scanned and coloured in. If I don't think an entry is of high enough quality, I will not put it up for the public vote.

So, who's interested here? I'll definitely be joining in on this, of course 8D
 
I've been busy and stuff recently, but summer is coming up very soon and I think this could be fun. =]

It sounds like it would be fun and I would defenitely try to enter it considering I have some fakemon of my own and a scanner to upload the drawings. I think it would be a great way to have our fakemon recognized on Pokebeach. I'm always interested in fan creations and this would be a great way for me to show my fakemon to other people. I'm up for it but would this just be one-time event or would we hold this every so often like the short story competition? :)

If it's held more often, I would probably join the time after the first, considering I don't know if I will be in "Project Custom 4" or not considering I am an alternative.

Once every month, each time with a different idea for a Pokemon. So one month I might ask you to draw a tough looking grass/dark type, and then the next I might ask you to draw a 3-part evolution line for a speedy looking psychic/flying type. Stuff like that.

Keep in mind that while I give the types, the actual concept behind the pokemon is entirely up to you. For the grass/dark type for example, you could try out a gnarled looking oak tree Pokemon, or perhaps some sort of evil looking daisy thing. :p

I am not 100% sure with how the voting system will work here, but I'll find a way to incorperate things such as originality and style into the competition- so even if you are no great shakes at art, you still have a good chance of winning (although due to the nature of a public vote, the better looking your submission, the better).
 
Is this going to be used for anything, other than as a showcase? I would enter, as long as people don't randomly use my Pokémon without telling me...
 
Just a showcase for now, the entries will not be used in any fan game or feature on any other forum unless the artist says it's Ok. If people want to use the art submitted in this project, they must contact the artist (not me) and get their permission to use it. Once this gets up and running, I'll make this perfectly clear in the first post.

I will let all artists know if there are any significant changes to this project too.
 
count me in Btw maybe we could make a fan game (pokemon beach version) for all pokebeachers and if anyone could do the same we could have our own kind of pokemon line ex. pokemon beach, forest, mountain version

In two weeks I can compete, so then count me in! (don't expect me to participate each month though)
 
We gotta draw 'em??? There goes any hope of me entering. :[ Are you sure there will be no room for us, the "artistically challenged," in this contest? :[

But one problem:
I don't own a scanner, so what I usually do is take a picture of it, trying to make it as close to a scan as possible. Its not the greatest of ways to upload, but its something. Is that okay?

Well ya. If not, I can try to access a scanner.

Just remind me of the compitition days, because I won't remember. :p
 
Ah.

Does sketching or spriting count as drawing? I can hand draw anything and sprite anything, but computer art is not my strong point...
 
Any medium of art is accepted really, so long as the quality is high enough. Hand drawn, computer art, even paint.

Are aloud to do coloring/touch-ups on the computer?
