The Flights of Fancy
Workshop
Workshop
Hello, all! I am back, and I have decided to mark my return to Pokebeach forums, I would post a trio of poems I created, starting this thread as my own Poem workshop! Neat, right? ...Or should I say, fancy?
First off, I want to introduce this poem I wrote in order to cheer up a friend who was really depressed. I hope you guys can find some enjoyment out of it as well!
The Sum of its Parts
"Composed of many, but only one. I do not hide what I have begun.
Each and every side of me holds a different shade.
A color, a hue, and a darkness that will not fade.
But it is true, colors are made of different hues.
With other tones of brightness, darkness, and blues.
I, myself, am composed of many, but only one.
And with these erasers clouding me, I feel myself coming undone.
I do not want to be erased from the spectrum, I am afraid.
And these darker colors enveloping me, I almost feel betrayed.
But my resolve will not shrink, for it is true.
Through a part of me, I gave life to a character anew.
I, myself, am composed of many, but only one.
And through the sum of my parts, I have already won."

Next up with this Fancy Poem Trio is a poem that I had created upon looking at a little painting here called "Landscape with the Fall of Icarus". I had to do an assignment for english class and write a poem mirroring a poem already done for this picture, but I had to fancify it, and take my own interpretation of the events!
Picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landscape_with_the_Fall_of_Icarus
Original Poem: http://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poem/landscape-fall-icarus
Original painting done by Pieter Bruegel, of course. While the original poem to go with it was done by William Carlos Williams. Gotta give credit where credit is due, after all.. That is the fancy thing to do!
The Waxing Angel of the Seas
"According to the captains of the ships, Icarus fell on a spring’s setting sun.
Some of the sailors would recall that above them swung an angel with wax wings having fun.
It delighted in its freedom like a bird that had newly learned to fly and began to fly higher and higher.
While the sailors looked up at the heavenly being filled with envy and desire.
The Captain steadied his crew from thoughts of fancy, He warned them that the skies were chancy.
As they sailed along, they eventually lost all sight of their inspiring waxing angel of the seas.
And among them the loneliness felt emphasized by the sea’s cold breeze.
Unknowingly, they departed the Waxing Angel of the Seas after the clock had hit seven.
The Waxing angel had sweated its wings and fell from the heavens.
The Sailors wondered how high the angel had been as they wiped the sweat off of their chins.
A Fallen Angel he had become and fell down to the earth with a splash for his sins.
Icarus’ drowning became an old sailor’s tale
Too bad Icarus didn’t live so he could tell."
One last poem, which was written with all my friends in mind. I hope you can find the same sentiments and emotions I found when writing it. ^_^
Take Heart, My Friend
"In my heart lies many chambers, and in those chambers people walk in and get closer and closer to the core, while others walk out and shut the door. With every beat of my heart, I can feel them knocking at the door. To let them in, so I will be alone nevermore.
Yes, in my heart I carry my friends and family, and even strangers. But my heart beats regardless of danger. You, my friend are within my heart walking through the open door. And those that remain in my heart, will be in there forevermore.
So rejoice that you are within my heart. And it will beat for those that walk through those chambers until they depart. So take heart my friend, For at the very core of my heart, you are a part.
And if my heart were to break, from some foul mistake.. If my heart were to ache, and its core were to shake..I will rely on you to mend it in its wake, stitch by stich, until I awake. And take heart, for I will mend yours, stitch by stich, for both of our sakes."

Well, thanks for reading guys. I make poems in my freetime, and I'll be sure to send some poems your way on this little thread as well to keep you updated with my writing and what not. As for my stories that reside on this forum, fret not! I have taken a short leave in order to work on pursing other stories and other trades, as you can tell by the sudden advent of fancy poetry, but I promise to get back to working on Trump Card and Knighted. I'm also collaborating with a few friends to make some short stories, which may pop up around here soon.
So, stay tuned!
