Fastest Decks in Standard?

Hey all,

I've been trying to grind the VS ladder on PTCGO and it is taking a huge chunk of time to do. As I work every weekday I don't really have time in the week to sit and grind, and grinding isn't that fun in the first place. I've only got 600 out of 2000 points so far after 8 days of playing - so at the current pace I'm worried I won't be able to complete it.

I'm looking for a deck that is both fast and consistent to help me get to the end faster. I really, really want that full art Lysandre.

What would you guys consider the fastest and most consistent decks currently in standard?

Expanded suggestions also welcome, but my expanded collection is limited.

Haha, that reward ladder is really working well to get people playing the game! :p
I'd say Night March and Vespiquen decks are both intended to be fast and consistent. You technically should be taking a prize a turn in a perfect set up. You could also try Shedninja ROS/Mew-EX if you're looking for a fast deck that is also notoriously ridiculous and fun. Swapping through decks also increases the fun factor.

I've actually got a "Night March+Vespiqueen" deck, but it doesn't feel consistent since I often get a dead starting hand (no draw). My low HP pokemon then get bowled over before I can draw into gas.

That shedinja / Mew-EX deck - how does Mew survive a hit? It seems it could get a lot of damage very quickly, but to me it looks like mew can easily get 1-shotted so it can't really retaliate.

Try running a traditional version of either. There are some good examples here.

The trick with using Mew-EX is things like Frozen City, Team Magma's Secret Base and Rainbow Energy to do damage to yourself. It's not great against non-EX decks but it is decent against setup and EX decks.

Ok, so far I've managed to find the following decks to be pretty fast and consistent in Standard (in my opinion):

1) Vespiqueen and variants
2) Sceptile-ex / Malamar-ex
3) Mega Manectric-ex variants
4) Mega Rayquaza variants
5) Lucario-ex decks

And some more unconventional ones:
1) Gyarados (Ancient Origins 21) / Team Magma's secret base.
-Can 1-hit KO EX's on it's first attack, but needs a turn to evolve unless you play Wally - so not quite as fast as Vespiqueen.
-Can go into a more heavily defensive route with hard charms, rough seas, and Aurorus if you prefer.
-Since it's water can be run alongside Regice.
-Better in expanded due to Mr Mime and Silver bangle (Mr mime getting reprinted in XY8 though).

2) Excadrill (Primal Clash 97) + Eeveelutions
-Only needs 1 energy to start attacking, but needs to evolve first.
-Can take 2 prizes a turn against low-hp decks like vespiqueen and night march.
-Shield energy makes Excadrill very bulky.

3) Miltank / Shiftry
-Shiftry sets up quickly with Forest of Giant plants.
-Shiftry's Deranged dance hits like a truck, higher damage cap than either Vespiqueen or Mega Rayquaza.
-Very good draw power thanks to leaf draw.
-Miltank is a cheap attacker.

I don't really think Lucario, M-Manectric, M-Sceptile and Shiftry are that fast. They all either require a type of set up that could take a couple of turns (Lucario, Shiftry, M-Sceptile) or fairly low damage output (i.e. Lucario depending, M-Man, M-Sceptile). Gyarados doesn't exactly feel consistent to me, so I really only recommend speed Mega-Rayquaza, Vespiquen or Nightmarch.

In standard night march is fairly slow.

imo these are the fastest decks in standard

hawlucha/meianshao (has a very simplistic engine making overall game play mechanics much faster to play, solid in all matchups)
volcarona/mega amphy (has a turn 2 setup option for mega ampharos)
manectric/variant
vespiquen... (it hasn't done very well in standard at all, lack of efficient testing? Most likely)

Expanded fastest decks

Archie's stoise (fastest deck in expanded)
night march
plasma (under rated but still one of the fastest archtypes in the game)

That Hawlucha / Mienshao deck - do you have a decklist for it?
I've been tinkering around with Mienshao but haven't managed to make it consistent yet.
