I have always enjoyed Pokemon since I first picked it up for gameboy color so Pokemon X was a no brainer for me.

Zelda was another game that sent me back to my childhood and looked awesome on the 3ds I picked up both A link between worlds and Ocarina of Time 3D

Mario cart 7 brought me back to my childhood playing the original ones
Donkey Kong country returns- I first played donkey kong country on gameboy color I had a lot of fun with it.

My love of mario games spans back to the original nintendo, what can I say as I got older I kept on buying the new mario games.
New super mario brothers 2-
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon

I'm always looking to try new games. What is your favorite and why?

Note: Please remember to explain why you like certain games, and refrain from only listing games (such posts will be removed). Additionally, feel free to recommend/not recommend certain games or even give a game review.

Re: What are your favorite 3ds games?

Not in order. All games below are 3ds games that I played and enjoy.

Mario kart 7
My first 3ds game is Mario Kart 7. I still play it whenever I need quick game. I usually play it with my brother for many reasons *including when we have silly argument like what should we have for dinner, etc*.

Pokemon X
Best game that show what 3ds can offer. I really enjoy feed my Vulpix and used to, forget to continue my journey ^^;. I still play it from time to time now, even after finished the story line, just to adore my team.

Rune Factory 4
I only buy this game cause this is Rune Factory game. This is the best Rune Factory game that I've played so far *I played RF 1-3*. The story is good, have varians of area I can explored and long gameplay. I've stop played it for several months now, to try other games *a.k.a pokemon X* but still not finished it yet. But this game still a good game to play.

Harvest Moon: A New Begining
I grew up with Pokemon and HM's series and still enjoy both, very much. For the one who don't know, HM is really repetitive game. But as casual gamer myself, I don't mind it too much. In ANB, we are challange to revived a city and unlocks all the characters available by Farming *of course* and build city. Ohh.. and *if you don't know* we can get married and have a child here.

Fire Emblem Awakening
This is my brother's game. But I play it sometimes cause he is too stupid to see the obivious strategy to win the stage ^^;. This is game when you can customized your character and lead your team to kill enemies *kinda like pokemon conquest pokemon conques made based on Fire Emblem series, so the gameplay is similar*

The 3DS has been one of the best hand held systems ever, as well as the games that have come with it!
I can't list all of the 3DS games that I have and love, (as there are to many), so I'll list my top five.
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
This game was the absolute, perfect game to appear in 'The Year of Luigi'! Luigi and all of the ghosts were hilarious! (and the Polterpups were so cute!) The 3D visuals were pretty good and the graphics were great. I've played it twice since its release, and can't wait to play it again.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
I'm a huge Zelda fan, and playing the classic game in 3D with two screens was awesome! I think I've played it 3 or 4 times since 2011. :p
Zelda: Link Between Worlds
AMAZING GAME!!! THE best hand held Zelda game ever! I loved the story and the new villians. It was awesome to see A Link to the Past's Hyrule in 3D. Also, the Hero mode in this game was one of the hardest challenges ever! There's not much to say about this game, other than, AWESOME!
Pokémon: Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity
This game has got to be the most beautiful 3DS game ever. The story was great and realy emotional. If I remember correctly, I believe my "manly" eyes teared up a few times throughout the game. :p The story realy had feeling and drug me into the game. (I played as Axew) :) Not to mention, all of the dlc was pretty great!
Pokémon XY
Pokémon is my favorite game series! (which is why I'm here :p) The sixth generation being introduced on the 3DS and giving the Pokémon series a 'real world' feel, has been awesome! XY have been the all time best Pokémon games ever! I can't wait for the third instalment, or what ever else comes out next!

This system is just so damn good. So many great games to choose but I'll list a couple I guess. I'm excluding the obvious Pokemon X/Y and remakes like OoT 3D just because they're either obvious or not really new/innovative enough for me to consider them favorite. They're both good games though.

Super Mario 3D Land impressed me so much when it came out. I can definitely feel like 3D World surpassed it in almost every possible way, but I still consider it the best platformer on the system.

Virtue's Last Reward and Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies are pretty similar in terms of content style. I like them a lot and both are just more of their respective series which I already loved.

I feel like Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon were also sequels that improved on the formula from their past games and I loved them a lot while playing on my 3DS.

dmaster out.

Hmm I have not played animal crossing, Virtues last reward, phoenix wright, Rune factory or Harvest moon. I will have to check them all out.
There are so many games out for the system it's nice to see what everyone else enjoys playing.

I have spent over 500 hours on Animal Crossing: New Leaf. My most played game ever - I even got a second copy. 'nuff said.

I'll list my top 4 here, in descending order, and a brief explanation for why for each one.

1) Fire Emblem Awakening
...quite simply because it's the greatest 3DS game ever made. The only real flaw about it is that you can't really fight with another player over Wifi - local wireless, sure, there's Double Duel, but nothing long-distance. There's little incentive to really make a super-powerful team unless you have a lot of time to burn or want to get back into it. ...and I want to, but I'm finding it hard to inspire myself.

2) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies
...second best. It is standard par for the course for Ace Attorney - great as always and there's little if any complaint I have with this game. I do think it's a little simplistic at times, and I feel like just skipping to the point where I could just be wrong on purpose and I'd still technically be 'right', but it hardly detracts from the game. My favorite part is how smooth everything looks, and, of course, the breakdowns.

3) Zelda stuff on Virtual Console (Link's Awakening and the Oracles)
I had Link's Awakening DX on GBC a long time ago and have since sold it because I played it so many times I got bored. Then I learned the Color Dungeon existed (which I never went into) and was sad with myself. Thus, the first order of business when I got a 3DS was to get Link's Awakening from the eShop - thus technically making it the first game I had on 3DS. I got to rediscover it all over again and it was just as glorious as I remember. And then the Oracles came out, two games I really wanted to play but never did, and the rest is history.

4) Wait, you mean there are OTHER games to get for the 3DS?

I don't have much besides pokemon, but i'll list some of the best games I have played

-Pokémon X and Y
Graphics are probably the best new thing in the newest series of Pokémon. Music is also very good. The region has a lot of new cool pokemon (like Zygarde, Mega Charizard Y, Klefki, and Trevenant) but the addition of the fairy type is very upsetting (you don't have to make a new type to nerf dragons, the steel sword kills the dragon after all) and probably the only reason not to buy this game aside from a weak postgame plot.

-Nascar Unleashed

I haven't played this game in a while, but it was a fun time waster. Probably the main bad thing about this game was a limited selection of drivers, but other then that it's a decent game

And finally, my #1 is

-Pokémon Rumble Blast
Easily the Best spinoff game pokemon has ever made, and my favorite 3ds game of all time. The polygon like pokemon made it cool looking, the game plot was really interesting and sad at the end, and there was a very hard postgame challenge that I haven't beat after 3 weeks of trying.

Ugh, Gates to Infinity. Don't get me wrong, it was a solid game, it just felt like a huge let down from the perfection that was Explorers of Time/Darkness.

Favorite game right now would probably be Link Between Worlds, followed closely by Pokémon X. Only real complaint is that it felt too short, but the dungeon design and side quests were engaging and very fun. Looking forward to playing Bravely Default, hoping it'll live up to my expectations.

I have had to remove some posts due to spam (only listing games). Please remember to explain why you like a game. Thanks!

Pokemon Y... if it wasn't obvious enough. Animal Crossing New Leaf in 2nd, I love that it's the same formula but with new additions like being the mayor/public works projects/etc.

Also don't know if this counts as a 3DS game, but I downloaded Four Swords last night and it's reaaaally good. Probably one of my new favorites.

Edit: Also to respond to the Gates of Infinity comment

UGH I downloaded the demo... honestly it's nothing compared to the originals/Explorers of Time/Darkness. The graphics are OK, but I hate how the text moves so slow. Nothing will top the originals for me honestly.

I bought the new Donkey Kong Country game for the 3DS recently and I'm just curious if anyone has played it and likes it. I like it, but it seems like I can only play 2-3 levels at a time and I have to stop, possibly because of boredom, but I'm not sure yet. I could play the original DKC games for the SNES for hours, but I don't know if this one is lacking in something or what.

Have you played the original Donkey Kong Country games in the past

I don't know

Ten years

Because the originals have some of the worst physics ever, and the level design really isn't as good as most remember it. The graphics have also aged poorly for the most part.

(In regards to Returns, now) I can only play a few levels at a time as well, but only because I played it for so long on the Wii that everything is basically a retread for me. It's still fun though. The game's level design is, for the most part, top-notch, and the graphic style is vibrant and upbeat. I think the biggest issue you're going to run into with Returns is that 3D lost a lot of the shine. It feels much less enjoyable whenever the presentation falls off so much from what it was meant to be.

Also it's on a portable even though it's really not a jump-in game. Maybe it's just me, but I feel that if I can't dedicate some time to actually play it that it's not as much fun. Like I miss out on the small details in the level if I play it in short bursts. It's a much greater experience when some time is set aside to play and just really take in the game.

I really want to sit here and write essays on all of my favorite games, but that's going to have to wait. Blasted blurry eyes...

I've only got three games on the 3Ds due to my preference to playstation games apart from really pokemon. The games are,

1. pokemon X/Y.
which is easily the best pokemon game i've ever played and i've had all since red and blue. The graphics are stunning and the way the pokemon look blew my mind, i still play it all the time using my Eved trained team on random spot.

2. Super Pokemon Rumble
A great spin off game that kept me entertained for hours and looked great, turning my favourite pokemon into toys.

3.Super mario 3D Land
This was such a good game for me, it really got me into the franchise and when i've saved up enough money i'm definitly going to be buying another Mario game.

I haven't played all too many 3DS games, honestly, but I've thoroughly enjoyed all of the games that I have played, so I think it's worthwhile for me to list them as favourites and give a bit of a rundown. Listed in order of when I played them.

Fire Emblem: Awakening: I've been a huge fan of the FE series since it came to the States, so I was greatly looking forward to this release, so much so that I actually bought a 3DS just to play it (hell yes, Fire Emblem Special Edition 3DS XL). I was definitely not disappointed. The gameplay is spot on, bringing in mechanics from different old games into one cohesive package. The varying difficulty levels make it fun for anyone to pick up and play, from the seasoned FE veteran to the newcomer. Even the plot is pretty good for a SRPG; obviously due to the mechanics there are a lot of constraints, but I think they did a very good job and I ended up playing for the plot as much as the gameplay. If there's a downside, it's the DLC. FE:A has the second worst kind of DLC, where you pay for extra levels that mostly just exist to give you extra XP, money, and fancy items. And because you can play the DLC levels over and over as much as you like, whenever you like, it basically turns the game into easy mode, allowing you to level your units indefinitely. However, it's very easy to ignore the DLC by simply not playing it, so as a con, it's not a bad one to have. Would definitely recommend this game to.... pretty much everyone.

Pokémon X: A solid entry into the Pokémon series. The plot was "meh", but who am I kidding, no one cares a lick about the plot in a Pokémon game. The new Pokémon are all solid, the music is great, and the gameplay is there. As far as new features go, Trainer Videos get a thumbs down, and Amie is so-so at best, but I love the Friend Safaris, Wonder Trade, and the Battle Chateau. Better training and breeding mechanics make it easier for people to get into the competitive game, which doesn't quite make up for the lack of post-game interesting things to do, but at least it's something. Kalos was nice and big, and with a variety of routes and trainers there was a lot of exploring to be done, and so I felt the length of the game was good. I can't wait until Bank comes out so I can transfer my Pokémon over and restart my game to do a Wonder Trade nuzlocke. Not much point in saying tonnes about this game, though, since I'm sure everyone here has played it. :p

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies: I have been waiting for this game for years and it definitely did not disappoint. As the 5th game into the main series of AA games, and coming 6 years (!!) after the last game in the series, there was a lot of hype (at least from me) regarding what this game would bring to the table. It somewhat abandoned the darker themes introduced in AA4, instead following more in the footsteps of the first 3 games in the series, albeit with 3 attorneys to play as instead of one. The story was wonderful and fun and the new gameplay mechanics were fun to play around with. If I have any complaints, it would be with the hand-holding nature of the game; thought bubbles and hints from attorneys sometimes flat out tell you what to do next, and the game often moves you automatically from place to place, not letting you explore unless you're in an area where there are major clues. As such, it's probably a great game for newcomers to the series to play. The real heart of this game is the characters, though, and all of them were awesome, especially the newcomers. Attorney Apollo Justice actually got more characterization in this game than he did in his own game, which was also nice. Again, highly recommended.

Yeah, I have played them. I said that in my OP. I actually still like the graphics in the original games. I don't know if that's the nostalgia judging them, or if I really do just like them. I thought they were great when I was a kid.

It could be that this game is on a portable system. I do have the one for Wii, and I could play that one a lot longer than the one for the 3DS. I think I'm used to RPG-like games for my portable systems, where I can set the game down for a few minutes and come back to it, because I'm not in an actual level that I have to complete.

Kid Icarus: Uprising

This game, man. This game. The best way to describe Uprising is Smash Bros. meets Cartoon meets Tetris meets Action meets On-rails Shooter meets... It meets a lot of stuff okay.

The gameplay isn't flawless, but it does everything so well that I never could complain about it. The flying, on-rail portion of the game is always action-packed and keeps you on your toes for the five minute limit each stage has. The enemies vary throughout the entire game, so it never feels old, and the locales are beautiful for 3DS standards. The cast of cheery, humorous characters also pulls the game along in these sections with constant bickering that kept a smile on my face the whole time. Controls for this part are basically perfection.. unless you're uh... Left-handed. Can't speak for that, being a Rightie. And if the game is just a bit too easy for you? Well this game's got you covered, with a difficulty system that gives the player all the choice, by giving you the option before each round which difficulty to play on, from 0.0, all the way to 9.0. Default difficulty is 2.0, if that tells you anything about how far a range you're given.

Now, I think, would be a good time to mention the parts of the game that aren't entirely gameplay. In between every mission, you get sent back to the central hub (A bunch of menus). From here you can do a number of things: Buy, fuse and test weapons; collect in-game figurines, or start another mission.

Buying and testing weapons doesn't need an explanation, but the fusing part does, because it's a big part of the game. Every weapon you obtain has a certain power level (shown in stars) in Ranged attacks, a certain power level in Melee attack, and assigned skills such as "Extra Health", or "Poison." These skills can be sent forward onto other weapons by fusing two together. Though what skills get passed are randomized, meaning you can't make a super weapon of doom to breeze through the game.

The figurines can be collected by playing "Egg Toss," a game which... Really isn't a game, honestly. You take some eggs from the side of the screen, put them in the bowl that rests in the middle of the screen, then launch them by pulling the bowl down and releasing. It's basically like the Trophy Machine in Smash Bros Melee; more eggs give you a higher percentage of getting a new figure, just like putting in more coins did. The eggs grow while you play the main game, or you can spend you Play Coins for an instant egg, if that's more your thing.

Back to the game itself: the on-land portion. This is probably one of the most divisive parts in a game I've ever seen in recent times. The gameplay is kind of like what Smash Bros. Adventure mode would be if it was in 3D. Beat enemies, proceed, do a bit of exploring, beat more enemies, and so on until you reach the boss of the level. Me? I loved it. People complained about hand cramps and the controls generally just being un-intuitive. Ask me, and I'll tell you the exact opposite - The controls fit the gameplay style here perfectly, allowing for snap reactions and unmatched accuracy. Though I do think that some of the stages went on a bit too long in this part, I'd say that 80% of them are fine considering you can always pause.

Now, it's already a great game at this point. It'd still be a favorite if I ended right there. But it goes even further, with an online mode that is unmatched on the 3DS. Everyone chooses a weapon of their own crafting, and then assigns skills via a sort of Tetris grid before getting thrown into, depending on your mode of choice, an all-out Free-for-All to see who gets the most points (Kills), or a 3v3 Team deathmatch that culminates in having to destroy a main target once the team dies enough. I was never one for Free-for-All, but I spent so much time playing Light Vs. Dark (Team) and can safely say I was never bored.

Though the gameplay is awesome, I just can't mention Uprising without mentioning it's amazing score. Some of my favorites are: Dark Pit's Flight Theme, In the Space-Pirate Ship, Dog's Theme, Solo Menu and so much more.

Basically, everyone who owns a 3DS should give Kid Icarus: Uprising a shot.

Unless you're a leftie, in which case take everything I said with a grain of salt because I don't know any lefties to give the game for testing.

I like donkey kong country. Similar to the game I had for Game Boy color.
I have been watching videos on kid ICarus ,Bravely default, Super Mario 3d land.
They all look good. I will probably buy them all.

The game I like the best for the 3DS, so far:

Pokemon Y - do I really need to explain this one? 200+ hours into a game can't be a bad sign.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf - does everything the previous ACs did, only better! You can get a bigger house, a lot more fish, be mayor of a town, buy various things for your town (like a bridge), and more! I skipped City Folk (due to the grass glitch + my general dislike for the Wii), so it's been great being able to get back into that game. I also really enjoy going through other people's houses via streetpass (got a Reversi piece that way, among other things) and visiting other people's towns.

Responding to other people who've played games I have:

I've played Kid Icarus, and to be honest I think it'd might be better on a console. The controls are very strange. It's a shame because the dialogue is very reminiscent of Star Fox 64 and it has the potential to be a great game, but I just couldn't do more than say one stage at a time. A more conventional control scheme would probably help the game, maybe a remake on the Wii U?

Super Mario 3D Land is an okay game: it's a solid Mario game, but it doesn't really do anything new aside from a few perspective tricks. I think it would've been so much better as a 3D game in the vein of Mario 64. The racoon/tanuki doesn't seem like it gives you as much freedom as it did in Super Mario Bros 3, although that could be nostalgia kicking in a bit.

I have Luigi's Mansion and Donkey Kong Country Returns, but haven't gotten around to playing either yet. Animal Crossing and Pokemon are just such good games! Not trying to detract from anyone else's fun, just my views.
