Pokemon Favorite Pokemon Game of All Time

Which one is the very best in your opinion? This includes the re-makes, Spin-offs and location exclusive games.

I have to say B2W2 comes very close to being one my my faviourite Pokémon games, as there's a ton of things to do, plus most Gym Leaders are in it. I also enjoy the Pokémon Blaze Black 2 and Volt White 2 hack of it, as the Hoenn GLs have been added as optional pre-Gym battles.

Another one my my favourite Pokémon games is HGSS, because your Pokémon follow you around, and not only did GF bring back the BF from Platinum, but there's also the Pokéathlon to make up for the lack of Contests.


As for Spin-off games... I like Pokémon Explorers of Sky, as it comes with some nice add-ons from Time and Darkness, like Chapters where you play as Bidoof, or Grovyle, Spinda Café and Shaymin.

Another one my fav Spin-offs is Pokémon XD, as it was one of the first Pokémon RPGs in 3D and unlike Colosseum, you can capture wild Pokémon.

I also like PokéPark Wii Wonders Beyond, but only because the game is so funny. I really like walking past a Primeape, while holding a Cleffa Doll.


From all of these games, I probably had the most amount of fun with HGSS. Let's hope there's going to be another re-make this year.

My favourite Pokemon game is Pokemon Conquest, because of the way Pokemon evolve by link, and the Warriors personalities are really nice. I also like the way Warriors transform with a high bond with Pokemon, putting hard work to strengthen the bond. I also like the way you can play as other Warriors in their stories, especially Nobunaga, Hideyoshi and Masamune's story, since you have to unite the Ransei region, and the endings are.....hmm....how do you say it.....funny? Amazing? Something like that.

Sapphire is my favourite of all time. It has the best map, and more things to do both during and after the game. It also added some of the best pokemon. The legendaries were amazing too. There isn't a bad thing I could say about the game.

Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky.
The main story always has mystery and suspense in it, even after playing it several times over. It also has the best boss music (see: Primal Dialga), and a great score overall (Sky Jukebox is a great feature) and has one of the saddest endings (it never fails to bring tears to my eyes).
Sky also has the added bonus of the mini-episodes, Spinda Cafe and other nice details.

My all time favorite game is Pokemon Conquest. I love the gameplay and the many "missions" you can do. Also I love the artwork of both Pokemon and warriors, and I like the way that you use "link" to evolve instead of levels.

White version or X version. I can't really pick just one.

White version had the largest update to the pokedex since gen 3 (which I wasn't a huge fan of but I still liked them) with many of them quickly becoming my favorites like Volcarona, Genesect, Vanillux, Garbodor, Liligant, Scolipede, Braviary and Joltik. I loved every minute of the new pokemon. It was also the first region to really feel distinct and just another part of Kanto, but just a little off the map. Everything was different and new and ridiculously fun. I also fell in love with Chargestone Cave. I know it sounds really stupid, but when I first walked into it I was giddy as a school girl about how awesome a place like that would be. But what I loved most was the story, and how truth and ideal are basically the same thing and when you try to look at them as separates, things go wrong. There needs to be a balance.

X version is absolutely stunning. I know GF spared no time or expense when it came to the graphical upgrade and it is presented very well. Kalos is so immersive, so interactive was very easy to get lost in the game. While I was pretty disappointed with the number of new Pokemon, I was very pleased the new comers were very, very well designed and and fit so well into the pokemon universe. My favorites being Dragalge, Aromatisse, Xerneas, Delphox, and Trevenant. The story line was also far more gritty and mature than they have been in the past and it was quite a pleasant surprise to see the main player actually being useful to the world, rather than just being super cool and the best trainer. The characters too, were so much better than in previous generations and fleshed out very very well. I really couldn't tell you the difference in personality between Prof. Oak and Prof. Birch and Prof. Elm and Prof. Rowan... (based solely on the games mind you)

Soul Silver, Black 2 and Emerald are my favorite games, I really can't say which one I like more. Soul Silver is my favorite for mostly nostalgic reasons, but I also think it is just the sheer length of the game that keeps this one at number one. Black 2 is a little bit more complex. I found it's pacing great, much better then most other Pokemon games, and the number of available Pokemon makes Black 2 one of the more varied games, especially for nuzlocke challenges. Perhaps even more important is the PWT, which not only made me respect the gymleaders more, but it turned out to be the greatest battle facility Pokemon has so far. The only thing that comes close to it's glory is the whole of the Emerald battle frontier, which of course made it one of my favorite games.

I do have to say that I tend to be picky about my games, Soul Silver, Emerald and Black 2 are truly the only Pokemon games that stand a chance on a favorite game list. I admit that I now play Pokemon X most of the time, which definitely is not my favorite game, but it is by far the easiest to train and catch my Pokemon on and prepare them for newer, better generations and/or games. So if we are speaking about my favorite game to train, catch and breed Pokemon, it is by far Pokemon X.

Also Pokemon X being the newest game also automatically makes it my preferred game for battling, simply because of new moves, items, Pokemon, etc.

X without hesitation. It is the best Pokémon game to date. It introduces tons of new aspects and features to the old formula of a great Pokémon game. Trainer Customization (Boutiques too), Fairy-Type, Battle Maison, PR Videos, PSS, Super Training, Pokémon-Amie, Mega-Evolutions, Type Chart Changes, Cool New Mascot Legendaries, New Evolution Methods, New Eevelution, Horde Battles, Sky-Battles, Inverse Battles, Ride-able Pokémon, Restaurants, Friend Safari, Chain Fishing, Photo Spots, and more are the new features added to the game and make it that much more amazing. The graphics and battling are comfortable, familiar, and innovative. The story is interesting (although it could of been longer) and satisfying to complete with great cinematic scenes. The characters had personality. The main villain was actually threatening and interesting to watch. That goes for all of Team Flare. Let's not forget about the great Pokémon. Unfortunately, there were only about half of what is usually introduced in a gen but the few that we got were awesome. My personal favorite is probably Xerneas and Goomy. Oh yeah, and the starters? They were all friggin awesome! You couldn't go wrong with any of them. There is plenty to do and you may find yourself with at least 50+ hours of gameplay (I have 389:11) filled with excitement and adventure. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y were just straight up amazing! I can't wait for the third installment.

My favorites go XY, HGSS, BW, Conquest, FRLG, XD, GSC, RBY, RSE, DPPt and Stadium 2. All of these are very close especially GSC and RBY.

Yeah the main reason I didn't mention it was because I only played up to the electric gym. And I didn't really feel anything for the game. Maybe I'll go back and finish it.

It's a good game, as it has way more stuff to do than XY, which feel quite shallow in comparison.

I'll have to disagree on that. Post game in XY is non-existent, but it's not as if B2W2 have such a great one themselves. Sure, it leaves half the map to be explored, but most of it is just that, map exploring. From one point of view, it's good that it has so many legendaries, because else it would feel boring.
For me, the best game has to be HGSS. Playing two regions is simply great, and adding both legendaries in one game as well as Eusine's storyline is a major plus. It's a long, good game, with a nice storyline and a few extra features to improve from the already good GSC, such as the Battle Frontier instead of the batle tower. All in all, the biggest and most interesting Pokemon game to date.

Obviously Learn With Pokémon: Typing Adventure. The game's easy and simple for idiots like me, and it taught me how to type. And only for the low, low price on Amazon of about 100 bucks (apparently used).

But seriously, HGSS.
The games are brilliant, and honestly, one of the most interactive as well. It isn't just the usual 'Catch, Battle, Get Money, Spend Money, Catch, Breeding etc'. You have the PokeAthlon which has 10 (?) minigames for you to play, your first Pokémon following you around, as well as the Phone (or whatever it's called), the crappy casino minigame and a few other things.

Although X and Y did have a lot of interactivity from Amie etc, it had a disappointing end game. With XY, you have the Looker Missions. With HGSS, you have an ENTIRE OTHER REGION to go through. It's literally two games in one.

Sapphire was my first game; it's the one I have the best and most memories of. So it's my favorite.

Overall, I'd have to say Conquest, mainly because it reminds me so much of Risk, but Pokemon integrated into it. The story lines are great as is all the diversity of Pokemon and warlords.

My second would be a tie between Blue Rescue Team and HG, as I had the most fun playthroughs on them.

X and Y I feel went much more in depth in terms of pre-credit storyline than many preceding main games, but lacked a thorough postgame story and many new Pokemon.

A little off topic, but I had a game called Mario Teaches Typing back when I was a kid. Easily the best typing game ever...except for Warcraft 3, the game that actually taught me how to type (practice makes perfect). =P

Anyway, my favorite game is probably Pokemon Gold/Silver. The new types, the large amount of content, and at least a little nostalgia make me like it. X/Y is a close second: it essentially took most of what's good about Pokemon and refined it into one game cartridge. 200+ hours can't be bad!

The best spinoff for me was Pokemon Trading Card Game. My friend and I spent hours on that game making different decks and playing against each other. We probably made just about every deck possible! I bought a Gameshark just so I could get all the cards on that game again (my old data got deleted somehow). Quite fun!

That's the problem. XY has no post-game and only 3 Legendaries per save file. It's just bland and what's worse, is there's only one area you can't go to til post-game, unlike B2W2 or HGSS, which hav a lot more places to go to and a lot of post-game stuff to do.

Cr*p, I can't decide between Emerald's Hoenn and both LeafGreen's and HG's improved nostalgia ...:(

LG stands last of the three because it's main atraction is the nostalgia factor. I could (and I was tempted to) say that back in the day the game was great and I loved it but in the end it was all because of replaying a better Blue version and now with my favorite Pokémon - Venusaur - in the cover and an associated title and all the memories and feelings associated with it. I love how the game gives the feeling that the cities are huge (after 4th Gen., perhaps because of game space, the cities were just too small in comparison to the player), the Sevii islands (and T.Rocket branch) were a great add-on but aside from that, it's nostalgia playing the bigger role and making me moving foward to see those amazing ending credits that are a summary of an amazing journey.


HG is second.
Before the editing, I was justifying it being in third by saying that despite being a good adventure I wouldn't like to repeat that at all but I was forgeting the Kanto post game and, more importantly, the main journey which, despite not being that great is rather good, namely by having the leading Pokémon outside it's Pkball (I hope this feature returns as an option).
HG has great music and nice places (most of them are kind of "meh") namely the japanese feel and looks from Violet and Ecruteak and OH MY ARCEUS, that National Park - it's one of my favorite places in all Pokémon games and I can just stand for an hour with my DS turned and enjoying the music!!! It's the best mix of great looking place and fitting and awesome music!). It has a new T.Rocket albeit with short appearence, and the Pokeathlon is a nice change.

Yes, my favorite game is Emerald.
Emerald has a diverse and fun region, a whole set of Pokémon that I like namely the Grass ones (it would be far easier to say which ones I dislike), a nice environmental plot fitting of the setting, nice gyms, leaders (Juan looks great and better than Wallace) & E4 (Steven being, in my opinion, the best Champion and I was sad to see its shortened role, even more seeing its come back and departure in HG), the gameplay mechanics are awesome - the diving sections are just magical with that music giving the feeling of something ahead just waiting to be discovered; using braille in the Golems' quest is just a great ideia and a way for us to learn something new while having fun; Berries makes us take a farming role; two bikes; Contests (I don't like them but their are a nice option) and the music...the music is simply amazing! And I can replay (new walkthrough) Emerald from time to time without getting bored.
... How could I forget the best thing of all times - secret bases. I loved the diverse options for locations, the amount of decorations and, once more, the music was just great and fitting, giving a warm and cosy sensation to the base, wether it's on a mountain cave or a pile of leaves. :D

PS: I spent more time with Sapphire and not so much with Emerald but that's because of releasing order. Emerald's small visual changes made the generation even greater!

I really loved the Hoenn region, which made me enjoy every play-through. The fact we could dive and have our own secret base was amazing. It was also the first game where I could catch multiple Pokémon of various types in the very beginning.

I loved generation 2 games (and their remakes even more) due to the fact we had 16 gyms, instead of 8. In the remakes I thought it was awesome we could have our Pokémon follow us and I’m still waiting for this to be possible in future games!

The first generation will always be in my heart, since they were the first games I’ve played, I got to use Charizard (my first Pokémon) and they are what made me love the franchise (along with the anime).

I also really loved the story in generation 4. It was much more serious than the previous games.

I enjoyed generation 5, but it didn’t stand out much for me. It had some nice new Pokémon and features. I especially liked the second generation 5 games with the Join Avenue and the adjustments to Black City and White Forest.

Despite that I have to admit XY are currently my favourite games. I feel like every generation just adds to the excitement for me. Each generation has new features to use and builds on what there is. There are some things that they don’t include in the newer games, which I still miss. However, the graphics always improve, the games become more convenient (EV training, IV checking, infinite TMs, running! Yes, I remember when we could not do that.., etc.) and we have more Pokémon to choose from.

Its tough to pick between Pokemon Silver and Pokemon Emerald. Silver is probably my favorite just because Lugia was the mascot and a big part of the game, and the return to Kanto right after Johto (especially back in the day when I had just beat Pokemon Red for the first time right before) and fighting Red were the essence of thick nostalgia. I will say the world of Emerald is absolutely gorgeous and was fantastic to explore, plus I enjoyed the newer designs in that game overall far more than Silver. Lugia is my favorite pokemon, but Emerald really ramped up the series and made the game actually seem incredibly detailed as opposed to other games.
