Hi there. I got back into the Pokemon TCG since Breakpoint and this is the deck I've had the most fun with in the few months of playing. I'm mostly putting this up as it's going to be the final build I play of the deck at a casual tournament this weekend before the upcoming rotation.

Pokémon - 22

1 Shaymin-EX ROS 77
1 Carbink BREAK FAC 51
1 Carbink FAC 50 (Safeguard)
1 Marowak BREAK BKT 79
1 Cubone BKT 77
1 Marowak BKT 78
4 Gible BKP 68
2 Gabite BKP 69
3 Garchomp BKP 70
1 Garchomp BKP 70
3 Meditite PRC 79
3 Medicham PRC 81

Trainer Cards - 28

2 Fighting Stadium FFI 90
1 Town Map BKT 150
1 Skyla BKP 122
2 Professor's Letter BKT 146
4 Korrina FFI 95
2 Focus Sash FFI 91
1 Xerosic PHF 110
2 VS Seeker ROS 110
1 Lysandre FLF 104
3 Rare Candy PRC 135
2 Ultra Ball ROS 93
4 Muscle Band XY 121
3 Professor Sycamore PHF 101

Energy - 10

4 Strong Energy FFI 104
6 Fighting Energy

Total Cards - 60

Strategy:
Overall, simply hit hard, hit often. With quick setup thanks to Korrina, and multiple damage bonuses from Strong Energy, Muscle Band and Fighting Stadium you can deal a lot of damage.

Garchomp's one of the main hitters in this deck. It's easy to access a Garchomp and Rare Candy to evolve turn two by searching them both out with one use of Korrina. And since Garchomp already deals a fair amount of damage (especially to EX Pokemon), the extra damage ensures the OHKO on many occasions.

Medicham's the second star of the deck. While not hitting nearly as hard as Garchomp, Medicham can attack twice a turn with it's Barrage Ancient Trait. This means those damage bonuses make even more difference, causing an KO (or possibly 2!) in a single turn.

Carbink's merely a tech here. If an EX Pokemon's proving to be too much for me to handle, Carbink steps in and nullifies the damage done to itself, while also grabbing energy from the discard pile using the BREAK evolution.

Marowak, however, only sees action when a game lasts too long. If my opponent is winning the prize card race, Marowak gets me the comeback with Bone Revenge.

The trainers in this deck are pretty standard, so I won't go into them except for Focus Sash. Focus Sash enables me to survive an extra turn against the real heavy hitters, and often becomes a better option than Muscle Band. Plus, I can simply attach the Muscle Band after Focus Sash does it's job. This allows for more 2HKO potential.

So, what's in store for this deck after rotation?
On first glance I was thinking of scrapping the deck entirely as a huge chunk of the trainer cards in this deck rotate out. Then I considered adding more draw supporters in to make up for the lack of Korrina. This is how I found a card that not only draws, but also can make up for the loss of Muscle Band... Giovanni's Scheme.

Why aren't I running Giovanni already? Well, I had tried it instead of Sycamore, but drawing up to 5 wasn't nearly as effective as drawing 7, and with what I already had the bonus damage option was merely there for overkill. In other occasions, my Supporter for the turn would usually be a Korrina or Sycamore anyway.

I'm also going to increase the number of a lot of cards after rotation, including the Medicham line, Skyla, Sycamore, Ultra Ball and even a little more energy since I can't search out Professor's Letter so easily.

What's your thoughts?

Following are a few thoughts for your consideration:
  • Between the Carbink, Gibble, Cubone, and Meditite, you have too few resources to search and get these resources into play fast. A few Level Ball would help quite a bit, IMO.
  • Secondly, the 3 Professor Sycamore are woefully insufficient for card-draw support; more car-drawing Supporters are needed to maintain smooth, consistent deck operations.
  • The 1-1 Carbink and Marowak lines add more clutter to the deck than anything else. In addition, should either the Basic or Evolution be prized, you've lost the benefit of its Evolution or Basic Pokémon.
  • I too have run a Garchomp deck quite successfully at big tournaments and I've found that Focus Sash is far more important than Muscle Band. Focus Sash helps Garchomp survive a 1HKO which can be critical at times.

Suggested deck changes:

-1 Carbink BREAK
-1 Carbink
-1 Marowak
-1 Cubone
-1 Town Map - not critical in light of other, higher priority cards
-1 Professor's Letter - 1 should be sufficient
-1 Skyla - not critical in light of other, higher priority cards
-2 Muscle Band - not critical in light of other, higher priority cards

+2 Focus Sash
+2 VS Seeker - maximizes Supporter usage
+3 N - more card-draw support
+1 Professor Sycamore - more card-draw support
+1 Sacred Ash - to help recover and recycle Pokémon
- - or - -
+2 Carbink
+2 Carbink Break
+2 VS Seeker - maximizes Supporter usage
+3 N - more card-draw support

I hope you find these comments helpful.

Thanks for the quick response.

I see where you're getting at, though. Clutter... got it. I should be focusing more on what the deck does rather than using different techs. Pokemon's a different game compared to other card games I play which require more options in the deck to counteract the meta.

Increasing the Carbink line in exchange for the Marowak line sounds like the preferable option here as I don't have access to more Focus Sash, VS Seeker or Sacred Ash. I'll add more Sycamores and N to the deck and try that out.

Thanks again!
