Hello Everyone,

I realize the cards I'm about to talk about are no longer allowed, but my cousin and I play for fun not in tournaments, so we're constantly using older cards.

If I have a root fossil or skull fossil out, can I rare candy/evosoda for cradily/ramparados like any other basic?

Thank You!

You are able to evolve pre-BW fossils (since BW and later fossils never become Pokemon) into their Stage 2 forms via Rare Candy, so long as the fossil has been in play for at least one turn. As for Evosoda, you could only get the next stage of the Pokemon, which in this case would be a Stage 1. So in your example, if you played Evosoda you would only be able to searcgh your deck for Cranidos or Lileep. To put Ramparados or Cradily into play, you would have to use Rare Candy or evolve into these Stage 1 Pokemon first.
