After GE comes out, will the Fossil Pokemon that used to be able to evolve from Mysterious Fossil able to evolve from Mysterious Fossil ?

What makes you think they wouldn't? The release of GE isn't going to magically erase "Evolves from Mysterious Fossil" from all those cards.

Well, because the card doesn't say that it evolves from Mysterious Fossil, well, hanks. :)

Perhaps you need to ask your question again. You first asked about cards that used to evolve from Mysterious Fossil, then said you weren't asking about them. /boggle

Okay, I forgot a tad bit from the question. :F

I think it's something like elekid & electabuzz. Electabuzz doesn't need to be evolved from Elekid, but If it is, you can draw the bottom card of your deck.

And how does that have anything to do with this? o_O

If the new fossil pokemon say that they evolve from specifically their own fossils (Dome Fossil, Helix Fossil, Old Ember) they evolve from those specific cards. If the text "Evolves from Mysterious Fossil" is not there, they can't be evolved from Mysterious Fossil.

A card will always tell you what it evolves from.
This does not apply to baby evolution and the pokemon that evolve through it. Since they can't really evolve from those cards. The baby's power just lets you put a certain card on the basic baby pokemon that counts as evolving. Two different things.

Ah, but what if you have the new Kabutops (which will say "Evolves from Kabuto" on it) evolve from a Kabuto from an earlier set that needed to evolve from a Mysterious Fossil? Furthermore, would one be able to Rare Candy a Kabutops onto a Mysterious Fossil because there is a way to backtrack from Kabutops to Mysterious Fossil?

There is no problem with an old Kabuto to evolve into a new Kabutops. It's a legal evolution line since Kabutops says it evolves from Kabuto. It doesn't matter what card is under Kabuto.

For the Rare Candy thing, as long as there is a Mysterious Fossil in modified format, I guess you are more than allowed to evolve a Mysterious Fossil into a Kabutops/Omastar with Rare Candy. But as soon as the Mysterious Fossil leaves modified format, the only ones left would be the Dome/Helix/Old Amber and you would be forced to use those.

This will bring up an interesting scenario, where you could be able to have 4 Mysterious Fossil and 4 of the new Fossils in the same deck.

This will be a matter to confirm when the cards come out, but I doubt they'll ban the whole Mysterious Fossil card from play :/ Or restrict the use of Mysterious fossil on the old fossil pokemon only. (That would be kinda dumb and really confusing to players.)

There's no reason to keep Mysterious Fossil in format if DP4 is giving us new fossils. It's like saying we should have kept Rocket's Meowth in format because otherwise Rocket's Persian ex would be unplayable.

I didn't say that they should be kept in the next format. There is still a Mysterious fossil in the HP ON format, meaning that when the new DP4 is released, we will have both the new fossils and the Mysterious Fossil as modified legal cards.

When the next modified format arrives, we will be left with only the new fossils. Of course the Mysterious fossil will not be kept in that format. Just like Rocket's Meowth was not kept.

good topic discussion .lol

no it can't evolve from mysterious fossil because it says evolves from dome fossil or helix fossil but the other evolutions can.
