Ruling Fossils

A fossil card is only counted as a pokemon while in play. While in your hand, deck, or discard it counts as a Trainer card. And while in play, it does count as a basic Pokemon, but ONLY while in play.

However they can't attack because it is a Trainer card and they don't have any attacks. I can never figure out why they made the fossils trainers because they have HP but no attacks. Make sure you read the text carefully because it does tell you how the trainer works. At least on Mysterious Fossil it does but I am not sure if the other fossils are the same as Mysterious Fossil. I know the text is small but if you repeat it to yourself while reading the text it will sink in. It did for me. When I first started with the fossil set I had trouble memorizing the set symbol. Don't ask me why but I did.:)
