Well, to put it bluntly, my last fic wasn't as great as I thouhgt it would turn out, and by chapter two was a filure. i have enjoyed writing fics and stories for ages, and would like to post a chapter of some work I have been writing,l if you guys like it, then I guess I'll ocntinue the fic...
I wanted to have descent length chapers, about 15 sides of book pages (A5) however, I discovered quickly that this was unpopualr among most fic readers, even though I myself would have like to have a descent sized story. If you think I should legnthen my chapters, well please tell me.
Sinnoh had been Ash’s best chance of victory yet.
It was the finals of the Sinnoh league, and a real thriller. The league had been a tough one and the final no easier. Ash had just scraped through the semi-finals, and was having some trouble here. Pikachu had been knocked out by Jordon’s Mismagius, after a very tough battle. Ash had to choose his second Pokémon now, and he was caught between Floatzel and Infernape. In the end, he through out Floatzel, and decided to leave Infernape to face Jordon’s Sceptile later.
“Let the battle begin!” called the referee, and Jordon quickly took the chance to get an early hit on Floatzel.
“Mismagius, Hyper Beam!” called Jordon.
“Dodge using quick attack, and go straight into Aqua jet!” cried ash back. The hyper beam missed Floatzel by millimetres, and whilst Mismagius was hit with a powerful aqua jet. Despite Floatzel’s direct hit, Mismagius recovered quickly.
“Use double team into areal ace!” shouted Jordon.
“No way can it use areal ace,” breathed Ash.
Sure enough, Mismagius, or the Mismagiuses, flew in the air and charged at Floatzel. A direct hit was inevitable, and Floatzel fell back into the playing field’s pool with the impact of the attack. At least it could be attacked whilst it was under water. Jordon wouldn’t let an opportunity like this go to waste.
“Mismagius, use psychic to get Floatzel out the water!”
Sure enough, Mismagius spotted Floatzel from it’s bird’s eye view easily, and Floatzel was lifted out the water.
“Floa!” it cried as Mismagius waved it up and down into and out of the water. Eventually, Mismagius let go, and Floatzel plunged into the water. Ash had to think of a way to get A powerful hit on Mismagius. But whilst he was thinking, was Mismagius attack time. The minute Floatzel emerged form the water, Jordon shouted, “Shadow ball Mismagius!” As soon as the attack was launched, Ash had a moment of inspiration.
“Floatzel, Blizzard!” he called. The icy air spread rapidly, and the shadow ball froze.
“Not bad,” called Jordon. “But watch closely. Mismagius, psychic!”
The psychic caught on to the frozen shadow ball immediately, and flung it back at Floatzel with twice the force.
“Floatzel, get back in the water!” yelled Ash. Floatzel dived in quickly, and the shadow ball dived into the water, missing Floatzel by a long way. Before Mismagius could pull off another psychic attack, Ash cried out to Floatzel, “Use surf!” A giant wave immerged from the water, and Mismagius was drowned in a powerful surf attack.
“Misma…” Mismagius was washed up onto the stepping stone, and the battle was over. The round went to Ash, but he was certain Jordon would bring out his powerhouse, Sceptile next. To Ash’s surprise, what Jordon through out of the Pokeball was a Linoon.
“Let the battle begin!” called the referee, and the round had begun. Jordon decided to take advantage of Linoon’s ice abilities.
“Linoon, blizzard!” he called, and Linoon froze the surface of the battle field. Whilst Linoon kept the grip with his paws, Floatzel slipped all over the place.
“Now Linoon, Hyper beam!” called Jordon.
“Liinoooo,” cried Linoon, and the hyper beam found it’s target without Floatzel dodging. The round was over quickly.
“The round goes to Jordon!” called the referee.
Ash was faced with a tough decision now, he could either bring in Infernape to finish of Linoon, and then retreat it to face Scpetile later, or he could bring out Muck. Either way, at the end of round five, they would change over the battlefield to a grass and rocky one, probably a better playing field for Infernape. Ash had used Pikachu and Floatzel, so his four remaining Pokémon were Grotle, Muck, Infernape, and Staraptor. He decided to go with Muck.
“Muck, I choose you!” he screamed, as Muck emerged form the Pokeball.
Muck groaned in his ugly voice, and Ash waited for the referee to call the round to start. This time he was going in with a plan.
“Let the round begin!”
“Muck, Rock tomb!” Immediately, the rock tomb fell form the sky and crushed Linoon. Linoon was almost out for the count, and ash just needed one attack to finish the battle.
“Muck, use Body slam!” Muck dived into the air, crushed trough the rock tomb and body slammed Linoon with 66ilb of mass boosting the attack. Linoon was definitely out of business.
“Linoon is unable to battle. The round goes to Muck!” called the referee.
That left them with four Pokémon each. Ash was confident now that Jordon would save Sceptile until last. He knew he could beat Sceptile with Infernape, and wanted to narrow it down to the last battle. A risky strategy, but if he could eliminate Jordon’s last two Pokémon, even if his went down on the way, he would win in the end. He would keep Muck in for now.
“Xatu, come on out!” called Jordon.
“Let the round begin!”
“Muck, explosion!” called Ash. This was the risky bit. As mucks body glowed with the light, he knew know that muck and Xatu would be knocked out. Was he prepared to let Muck go down now? Just so he could get to fight Sceptile? He couldn’t go back now.
“Muuu…………” and then he exploded.
The explosion was immense, and Ash knew from that very second he had made a bad decision. As the fog cleared, both Pokémon were visibly knocked out on the ground. The round had been tied. But that didn’t bother Ash, it was the outcome he had wanted from the round, as Muck could have never won it. The thing tat troubled Ash was that Muck wasn’t returning to the Pokeball.
“Stop the round!” he shouted at the referee. Ash went over to Muck and felt his body. Thank heaven, he thought, Muck was breathing, with a steady beat. Muck didn’t want to return, he wasn’t severely injured. The worried ash, and then he saw why. If Muck had returned, he would have assumed Muck was fine. But Ash’s hand had a large burn mark on, and it was form Muck. The explosion must have scorched him, and he needed to get to a Pokémon centre right away.
“I’m sorry ladies and gentlemen,” called the referee form the pitch, “But we will have a 10 minute interval while the battlefield is changed, and The trainers can take their Pokémon to the Pokémon centre.
***
“Don’t worry,” Nurse Joy said soothingly. All your Pokémon will be just fine. No damage at all. However, Muck will have to stay here over night so we can get his body temperature back down…” Ash knew Muck would be Ok, but he couldn’t help feel bad about what he had done. There was five minutes left of the interval, so he went back to the crowed to see Brock and Dawn.
“Ash…”started Brock. “There was no way just the explosion could have burnt Muck. Muck has used the attack perfectly before. He must have had a slight fever before the battle…” and then it hit Ash. Although strange, Pokémon suffer very different symptoms to humans when faced with minor illness, i.e. a stomach bug or a cold. The playing field had been solid ice, and Muck had been gripping on for two battles. He must have caught a cold, and when Muck gets a cold, it gets a fever.
“I should have thought it through more,” said Ash.
“Round sixe beginning!” shouted the referee through the speakers. “Will Ash and Jordon return to the battlefield!”
“Good luck Ash!” called Brock and Dawn.
“Let the round begin!”
“Grotle, GO!” called Ash. He wanted to take advantage of the Grassy field.
“Gallade, come on out!” yelled Jordon. This was going to be a good battle.
“Grotle, Leech seed!” The attack was launched imminently, and Ash thought it was unavoidable.
“Gallade, Teleport!” Jordon cried.
Gallade disappeared in a flash and reappeared behind Grotle.
“Now Rock Smash!”
The rocks fell quickly, and Grotle was crushed.
“ Now, use Psychic on the rocks!” shouted Jordon.
“Gaaaa… lade!” And the rocks smashed against Grotle again and again.
“Groo…”Grotle growled when the attack stopped.
Ash could see he was going to loose, so in a desperate situation, planned ahead.
“Grotle, Stealth rock!”
The rocks closed in on Gallade and the damage may have been small now, but later on this attack would help lots. Ash, however, wasn’t just giving up. Whilst Gallade was down, he tried a new tactic.
“Grotle, Solar beam!” shouted Ash
Gallade couldn’t protect himself, and the attack hit with much accuracy, even though it took a while to launch. Gallade was no where near done however.
“Gallade, double team into brick break!”
All the Gallades spun round Grotle, and he had no idea which to take out.
“Grotle, Withdraw!”
And Gallade’s attack impacted, but grotle was safely inside its shell.
This was the moment Ash had been waiting for. Time to show the world a new ear of Pokémon training.
“Grotle, Rapid spin!” The audience was stunned as Grotle spun round in its shell, and hit Gallade square in between the eyes.
The were murmurs in the audience of, ‘Can a grotle learn rapid spin!’ ‘Wow!’
As Gallade fell to the floor, Ash had another moment of Inspiration. Ash could see Gallade was far from beat, and so…
“Grotle, use Strength!”
Whilst in the air, Grotle built up an amazing amount of force and smashed Gallade into the ground. The round clearly had gone to Ash.
“The round goes to Ash of Palette town!” called the referee. Ash had three Pokémon remaining, whilst Jordon only had two now. Desperate times call for desperate measures, he thought, and threw the Pokeball dramatically. What came out was a Magmortar.
“Let the round begin!” shouted the referee.
The Stealth rock hit the second the round had begun, but Ash saw no scratch on Magmortar. This Pokémon was tough.
“Fire blast!” whispered Jordon.
The flames burst out from Magmortar, and flew right into Grotle.
“Groooooooo!” came the high pitched wail, as Grotle hit the ground. The round was over so soon, and Now All Ash’s hopes rested on Staraptor, or he would surely loose. He should have used Muck more wisely, but he couldn’t go back now. He had to win this.
Suddenly, there was a mass explosion and the field caught alight. The smoke was everywhere, the panic caught the crowd, and there were screams of fear and fury. The fire spread like… well wildfire, and everyone was rushed out of the stadium. Ash and Jordon were left to escape form the battlefield along with their Pokémon. Ash saw a flash of red and Magmortar was in his Pokeball. The smoke became thicker and there was a yell of terror as a green, poisonous gas merged with the smoke, and slowly, it became harder to breath, and there was no hope in being able to see anything. As Ash coughed and gasped for air, his last thought before he hit the ground was
‘I can’t hear him. Jordon’s gone.’
I wanted to have descent length chapers, about 15 sides of book pages (A5) however, I discovered quickly that this was unpopualr among most fic readers, even though I myself would have like to have a descent sized story. If you think I should legnthen my chapters, well please tell me.
