Framing Card Collections?

Hope this thread is posted in the correct sub-forum. Forgive me if its in the wrong place.

Have you ever thought OR have framed your Pokemon card collection? I went to photo framing shop the other day and I saw an entire EX Team Rocket Returns set framed up with the cards placed nicely and neatly. I looked through and I saw Mudkip *, Treecko *, Torchic *. Knowing that it belongs to someone else, I actually wanted to ask the shop owner whether I could purchase them. XD

Then I began to wonder is it a good idea to frame the Pokemon card collection especially when you are no longer active in the game. It does look nice when you frame it though especially if it consists of mostly EXs, LVx etc. Share your thoughts on this. =)

RE: Your Collection

There was a point in time a few years ago when I thought about framing some cards, but haven't thought much about it in the recent months. Now that I do think about, I would really like to frame one set that I've got, I think it would look really nice.

This belongs more in the Collector Forum I would think.

RE: Your Collection

Framing and displaying valuable cards is not a good idea in my opinion.
Displaying them on a wall exposes the cards to light.
This will accelerate fading, ruining the cards.

RE: Your Collection

I actually have one set framed up- the 10th anniversary commemoration cards that were released with the 10th movie in Japan (along with the matching Darkrai from the ticket.) It's nicely framed up, and they did a good job on it.

Really, if you frame them though, you must have UV resistant archival glass. Mine has that. It's been framed since 2007 and on a wall which gets sun in the afternoon in summer but there is no damage; and it's because I've got the right glass.

Most people don't get the correct glass, though, and that's where you see issues with sun bleaching. When you have archival glass, it's not really an issue. And I'm in Australia, the sun is pretty nasty down here even through the windows, but I've not had any problems.

tl;dr - Archival glass only or don't do it.

That maybe true but it will most likely depends on where it is placed though.

I remember the shop owner did ask me about what type of glass that I want when I went there to frame a jigsaw puzzle. I will take note of that. Thanks. :)

RE: Your Collection

I also worry about cards being exposed to air and humidity.
The edges of older cards stored in cardboard boxes have a brown tone.

I'm sure if done right framing would work but I still don't think it is a good idea.

RE: Your Collection

I keep my cards in my binders/folders, as for my spares (only un/commons & trainers) I keep them in a huge box & Pokémon/YGO tins.
Also I display my plushies/figures/wall scolls/posters/cosplay items (which u can see in my siggy under: Collections Site), so when I invite the few friends I've got over I an show it to them.

I was thinking of framing an Arceus line, but I wasn't sure how I was going to do it. I just may do that in the future, however. I don't think the cards will have a problem with the air and humidity and whatever if it's behind glass. I was going to keep the cards themselves sleeves and toploaders when I was thinking of framing in a glass-covered frame.

i think its an awesome idea, but only if you do it right and "professionally" like mentioned above get a uv resistant glass.

Especially with cards that arent used in the current game sure! id love to see the full base set framed on a wall thatd be sweet! if i had a complete set id do it.

And if you do do it, id love to see a picture of it! make sure to get a good looking frame too!

I wouldn't want to display the cards anywhere they'd be exposed to UV.

However,
I've been thinking about getting a complete base set and framing it to put on the wall in my basement. It'd be rather expensive and large though so I may just keep them in a binder.

(I do however, have RH's blu-tack'd up onto a section of my wall. Mostly useless cards of the pokemon I like though.)
